Thanks, Brian. I think you’d find much to admire in this volume. I was surprised at both the descriptions of the landscape and the way that the narrative kelts shifting so adroitly. Hope you have a great weekend!

Charco Press such a wonderful publisher! Another title on my TBR!

I agree, Rainier. Charco Press might be one of the 2-3 publishers I trust most in terms of their output. I’ve really enjoyed the works I’ve read from that press. Do you have a favorite?

@@ramblingraconteur1616 I liked another book published by the same press, The Wind that Lays Waste by Selva Amada. Also loved the very passionate Perla by Carolina de Robertis, set in Argentina.....A tight simple story, very Gothic... I have a few on my tbr but am embedded in The Books of Jacob currently , a fantastic, absorbing but long novel, so those will have to wait...

@@hesterdunlop3982 fascinating! I read Selva Almada’s Dead Girls last year and have continued thinking about it, so I plan to read more from her. Brian from Bookish mentioned another work from Carolina di Robertis, so I’ll have to see about reading one from her.
Where are you in the Books of Jacob? I have finished the Book of the Road and am really enjoying it.

That is wonderful to hear! Which of the three parts did you find most interesting?
Also, how did you find out about it? I’m curious if it was the Booker International shortlist that has spread the news or if more folks are talking about it.
I hope you have a great weekend.

Intriguing! And great review, Jack. It's on my shelf, will have to pick it up pronto. I see Feebleminded behind you - did you get to it yet? It was quite the trip. Tender is up next but I think I need a bit of a breather. 😅

Thanks! I am going back to Harwicz in about a week. I was enthralled (and horrified) by Die, my Love last year, so Feebleminded has been looming. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
