In the manga it wasn’t Whitebeard’s mustache that blown half way off it was half of Whitebeard’s face that got blown off.
This one is exactly like the one with Vigo's broken toe, but still true. The manga was more badass in this storyline.

Marco is really smart, he saw that everyone was depressed that they had fought for nothing and that now nothing was worth it and he gave them a reason which is to protect Luffy because Ace wanted to protect him. Yea, he'st the first commander not for nothing. But in hindsight I'm kinda disappointed that Oda didn't foreshadowing enough about the former 2nd commander.
Im always get chills everytime akainu speaks. His VA is one of the best in anime voice acting.

Akainu as a villian is just so great. His appearance looks so normal in anime- but espacially in one pieces zainy art, he is the only one that looks like a guy that you’d find as a manager of a liquor store. He doesn’t fuck around- goes stright to bussiness. He’s not evil for the sake of evil- he truly is just doing his job.
There’s this great scene where oda makes it clear what akainu is- when a ship carrying the children leaves ohara, it was akainu that gives the order to sink the ship. Kuzan protests this but akainu say something that is so chilling: “if even one person knows about the void century- then the whole destruction of this island and killing of all these people would have been pointless.” It’s such a cold logic and it’s also something that makes sense but we can’t help but think killing kids is still bad even if robins whole existence exonerated akainu’s thinking as because of Robin surviving- ohara’s buster call truly was point less death.

i do like how luffy just shuts down, our guy has been through it, nearly killed, pumped full of enough adrenaline to probably kill most large mammals, and been fighting almost nonstop for a day. no wonder he just shuts down when ace dies.
and yea seeing akainu's face when whitebeard appeared behind him was just beautiful.
Most op fans don't appreciate how strong akainu is, he just tanked whitebeard's strongest attacks yet he still stand strong and continued to chase luffy against all wb pirates
It's mostly Anime fans only. Manga fans DO realize how strong Akainu is, since he and the other 2 admirals never had any trouble with Old Whitebeard in the Manga. Heck, Whitebeard had to sucker-punch Akainu in the Manga to finally get a (cheap) shot in, unlike here in the Anime, where Akainu literally craps his pants (nice one, Toei).
Also, look at the wounds they give each other: Whitebeard hurts Akainu, yes, but the latter falls into a hole, which temporarily stops their fight, and then appears again to confront the entire Whitebeard crew while looking fine again. Whitebeard, on the other hand, gets an actual mortal wound (half of his head gone in the Manga) that would've killed him eventually (the Blackbeard pirates just accelerated his death).
Whitebeard won the skirmish, Akainu won the long-term battle. And again, portrayal matters. NONE of the Admirals had trouble with (old) Whitebeard. It took one sucker punch to finally hurt Akainu. And yet, for whatever reason, Toei completely changed things up, and now, Anime fans think that the Admirals are much weaker than Old Whitebeard. Toei will have a hard time now making Akainu look like a threat, because they made him look like a b*tch to Whitebeard in the Anime.

@@Incog2k6 Now Luffy in Gear 5 is an emperor, he toyed with Kizaru and the Gorosei, we don't care anymore about Akainu's power, the only real treats are Imu and Blackbeard (the character must have a plan in the end to steal more ower and become one of the strongest in the verse)

I think the 3 Admirals are all designed based on real famous Japanese people and Oda himself are kinda of a fan to the person they based on, that is why the Admirals get treated so well in the story

Man I hate how they censored it. Just an FYI when Akainu launched that attack that showed fist shaped balls of magma going through the smoke, the one that hit whitebeard's epic mustache..Yeah that was censored. In the manga half of his face and head was blown off. In the anime you just get half his mustache. Censorship like that really ruins it imho. Fighting with half a head is way, way more epic than fighting with two holes in your torso :/

Actually, in the manga Whitebeard never gets the second hole. They probably added it into the anime to make up for not adding the head thing. It's still way less deadly than getting your face blown off, of course
@@hasty3132I know this is an old comment, I just wanted to add my opinion. Would WB getting not just 1 but 2 holes in him from a magma fist be less damaging? Magma, at its lowest temperature, from what I’ve been able to find, still burns around 900 degrees Fahrenheit, and in the anime WB took 2 hits from a fist made of the stuff. Plus, it looked like Akainu looked like he expanded the magma in the second hit to the entirety of WB’s chest. With the head wound, from the manga, it might’ve made more sense that he could keep going because the magma would’ve cauterized the wound closed and adrenaline could keep him going until it wore off
Not let this distract you from the fact that in the manga Akainu removed half o Whitebeard face.

Fun fact. In the manga, Akainu took a portion of Whitebeards head, when he used hell hound (In the anime, just a piece of his mustache was removed.)

It was Akainu (Sakazuki) who was a vice admiral at the time and used a cannon to blow up a civilian evacuation boat in Ohara, Robin's hometown.
The most impactful thing about Ace's death, it's that almost everybody expected luffy to get angry and power up and fight Akainu, but Oda just made him break down like a normal human, at that moment he's just Luffy a guy who just lost his brother.

@@mastouriedam5845 BB's defense is shit, he takes x2 dmg and yet he still survives too. But i'm fine with BB because he recieved just a slash and a quake by an almost dead WB. My problem is with Akainu, WB's rage and AoE was insane in that last attack until the point of shattering Akainu's body 🤷♂️

Akainu make me realised that marine is a real deal in OP world. Because before Akainu introduce, they portrayed marine as a punching bag or feeder for the pirates.
They definitely give that ”final obstacle in the series”-vibes, by how insanely strong they actually are, even though their ranks are full of cannon fodder.

Akainu has a Logia fruits, the only way to touch and harm him is using haki. In this episode Whitebeard used haki all the time against him but strong enough to make him dream to quit the fight. Akainu was lucky that Whitebeards wasn't at his strongest...

It's crazy to me how people are in such disbelief at Akainu not getting taken out from a punch, but are perfectly OK with Whitebeard taking a sword straight through his body, taking magma punches to the gut that completely destroyed his internal organs, and getting half his face and brain blown off (chapter 575) and STILL GOING!!
well because he's the worlds strongest man, so of course he's still going.
I feel like once you see later stuff it's pretty obvious that people with a lot of willpower and determination can get back up from so much damage.
This is just the first time where we actually see a yonko level fight which depending on the endurance of both parties can last days.

Akainu doesn't overpower Marco onscreen in the manga. It is shown they are clashing equally before the scene cuts away.

Prime white beard was equivalent to roger but even this saying “easily” is stupid. Killing an admiral would be hard battle for any 1 character. But at marineford, it’s completely possible that akainu was the strongest person in the whole battlefield with only Mihawk being able to overpower him (from what we know now).
