Thanks for a great overview. Btw, the app does include h.265 format. HEVC is another name for H.265.

whats crazy, I seen you put it on 1/50 Shutter speed inside but when you showed it outside on the other video, it went all the way up to 1/2000 shutterspeed on the black magic app video you did, that same thing happens to me when I use either apps, is that suppose to happen and if so how are you suppose to film in a higher frame rate for slowmotion?
After I select my shutter speed, it changes when I adjust anything else. What am I doing wrong?
i keep TRYING to use the app but… idk. I have an xs. The focus gets all grainy and fluorescent green when you manipulate it… i need other option (aside from dslr)

Do you know any manual camera app for iPhone besides Filmic Pro that allows recording 100/200fps slow mo? iPhone's native camera with its 120/240fps results in really awful flickering while used with artificial light sources in Europe.
Hey. On ios Cinema P3 Pro Camera does. Only in 1080p but no app can do better than that anyway. I have a bunch of tutorials on Cinema P3 and there's a free version to test out before using the one off paid version.

I am not sure. I wish every app would right '10 bit' though next to the correct colour profiles ect.

I just paid £3.99 in app purchase for the long exsposure bulb mode and got billed but it has NOT downloaded and installed this feature but did take the payment. Not happy with that but love the main app
Please try using the "restore purchases" option in the app if you haven't already
How can I lock the exposure on a moving object as the moon, in a video and time lapse?
Just to lock the exposure on an object or a view without loosing it when moving the camera.
The only thing you can do really is lock the exposure on the moon itself. Any shifts in lighting during a timelapse is the nature of a timelapse in certain environments.

How compatible is this with the standard iPhones (that is the non pro models)?

i have an xs!.. im a newb but man,.. i just dont like this app. Does your focus get all grainy and turn bright green as you “focus”?
Also, the way auto focus is on here. i dont like that either… i always switch to the native app, and it ALWAYS looks, and auto-focus / focuses better. I wont rent apps either (filmic).

Hello, I’ve been facing a problem with this app. When I connect my lav mic to the lightning port, the Moment app doesn’t seem to record with that. Instead, it uses the iPhone mic. What should I do?
Hmmm. If you are selecting the mic to be external then that shouldn’t be happening. Perhaps delete the app and the re-install it. That often fixes things like that. Otherwise I would drop Moment and email.
Hi buddy! I have a lot wasted videos using this moment app. Most of them are overexposed (with sharp whites on nights shots) I don't know why they are different from the actual shots. Any idea?
In daylight are you using ND filters?
Does the log format only available on iphone 15 models?
Apple log is iphone 15 models only but they have their own log which is for older models like my iphone 12.

Depends on your budget but Blackmagic is free. Filmic Pro has the most high end features but is the most expensive and Cinema P3 Pro Camera is the best one off payment app.

If you are using an anamorphic lens then yes. Otherwise you'll need to add black bands in post.
hey rob can you please tell me if the app has any issues with stabilization or its smooth as native camera app . does it create any jelllo effect or not ?

I haven't noticed any jello effect using stabilization at all. It seems as smooth as the native app I would say on my iphone 12.

That must be a glitch. I would uninstalling the app and then re-installing it. If it still doesn't work after that then email Moment.
How do I use cinematic mode on my iphone from this app?
Well, the point of this app is full manual control, so having an auto mode that is already done well in the native app would be pointless. If you want the cinematic look, you can just use the manual controls to get the same look as in the native app! Orrr you could just use the native app

No problem! Unfortunately it doesn’t shoot in either. They did tweet asking for update suggestions though.
We now support Dolby vision HDR, ProRes, Apple Log, and more!

One payment only. If you want to make timelapses then you need to pay a little extra which is also one payment only.
I just bought an iPhone 13, I have been an android user on the past years. I have watched many CZcams videos about the Moment Camera App, my only concern is that will it be worth it? I only have a regular 13 and not the Pro models. I have been using the Lightroom Camera to shoot RAW but the only option is a DNG (I don't like it because it gives a lot of noise to the image). Now, I'm wondering if I can shoot a true RAW image to the app. Please help me to decide, ΤΙΑ!
You can indeed take photos in Raw when using the Moment app.

I tend to use apps for videos and as I don't take many photos to be honest. I imagine you would get more control over your image using the moment app.@@youlookgoodiwillnotlie8448

Moment is not available on android but MCPRO 24FPS is.

I believe they have just included pro res in their latest update yes.

Unfortunately not. It doesn’t look like it will happen either.
Do you use an extra lens?
Not for this video. In narrative films I often use a tele photo lens though. Sometimes an anamorphic and/or macro at times.

I want BeastCam for android
0:14 *major fail* in minute one. You never talked about switching from photo mode into video mode. You just assumed the viewer is already in video mode. The app opens in photo mode by default and it's not intuitive how to switch to video mode.
Bought moment camera, played with it about 1 hour and sent it back. Din't like the app at all. Here is why. 1. App is more than 4 times heavier than competitor. 165 mb vs 37 mb. What did they put in there? 2. I had a strange feeling, that app is lagging on my 14 pro max. 3. When I switched video capture to 60 fps, the screen remained 30 fps. It was horrible. 4. No dolby vision support. Recorded videos just look dull. 5. Not good interface implementation. Had to dig into menu to turn on/off function I use often (bracketing).
ProCam 8 I bought next is much better, imo. At least it doesn't have those flaws, lightweight, fast, convenient interface and 4k dolby vision.

Cinema P3 seems like a much more complete app in this non-subscription price range. To me this seems like a pretty weak offering.
I would say Moment cover the basics really well and for a good price but yes Cinema P3 is definitely more advanced.
I was disappointed with CinemaP3 because some videos recorded at 60fps settings actually ended up being around 43-47 FPS and that resulted in choppy video that was unusable. This happened using an iPhone 14 Pro Max 🤷🏻♂️
