2)Tillering phase
- Tillering of sugarcane in tropics
- secondary sprouts are underground buds
- in strong -bushy varieties 20-40 sprouts
- in medium -bushy 15-25 sprouts
-in weakly -bushy 8-12 sprouts
3) Grand growth phase
- 5-8 months
- cane formation
- leaf production
4)Maturation and ripening
- this phase lasts for three months
- in tropics ,by harvesting time the sugarcane stems accumulate on an average up to 14-16%sugar
