What Bernie and Biden have done is actually applying capitalism too the pharma companies. They have to compete for the favor of customers rather than the costumers having to compete for their favor. The way medicare was organized is kind of backwards capitalism and was just bad to begin with.
Personally though I am hoping Biden will do more drastic things in his second term. One idea from Trump that I do like is energy independence. Of course Trump is too stupid to understand that but for the US to get energy independence oil has to be nationalized. The US doesn't control it's oil, the international corporations do and they won't sell cheap oil to the US if they can sell is for more to Europe or China. The cheap oil in the US is actually the result of massive government subsidies. The oil subsidies are over 4 times higher than the green energy subsidies.
Nationalizing US oil would turn oil from a massive net loss for the government to a massive net gain.
Why in the world would the US pay subsidies to the petrol industry?

Many of us tried. I worked hard, supporting his presidential campaign on my feet and financially. Many people here in the US are blinded by propaganda and lies that are fed to us by corporate-owned media. Much more is going on in the way of bribery and pure corruption led by the wealthy.

Helping Americans also helps corporations. It's not a matter of choosing one over the other. It's more so a matter of choosing short term gains or long term ones. Trump choose short term with his tax cuts that give the stock market a sugar high but peters out and leaves the government with less money for investment and the people to pay more taxes to compensate which means they have less money to spend.
Allowing big pharma to price gauge not only is cruel but it's also just bad for the economy as that money isn't going to other things and it means people with health problems are forced into poverty. People in poverty are a net loss for society since they can't pay taxes and are reliant on welfare to survive.
The US actually spends a huge amount of money on welfare, almost as much as Denmark does but that's mainly because it enables companies to pay low wages and for them to price gauge consumers. US welfare is more so an indirect form of corporate subsidy.
Another reason US welfare spending is so high is because the system is a mess. There are way too many programs and many are severely underfunded and also burried in paperwork from excessive means testing. There should be welfare reforms to keep the spending the same but get more out of it. For one remove a lot of means testing and use tax compensation for the rich to off-set the money they receive in welfare as that is more efficient since you already collect taxes anyway, it removes a layer of bureaucracy. Also cut about half the welfare programs and transfer the money to the remaining half. A handful of well funded programs gets you way more than a huge number of underfunded and overly specific ones.

Pharmaceutical companies along with medical equipment companies, and all businesses currently in the healthcare industry. Healthcare has become the new cash cow in the U.S. I was a Republican when the GOP did that, as well as when they took money from Social Security, manipulating their way around the laws protecting it. Now they started insisting it's an "Entitlement." Social Security, or FICA, aren't tax dollars, but that's how the GOP destroys any legislation or federal program. It happened when they passed the healthcare legislation resulting in the screwed up system we have now. I have been watching it for over fifty years, and am now an Independent because of this corruption and theft in the Republican Party. They're more evil than big government.
