After pretty a long time am watching telgu movies as I am. away and out of telgu language to a large extent but still I have attachment to the south movies and songs as it remembers me of my grandmother's days of the southern land which I miss. Watching this movie is very interesting better than the movies of
this generation as the old movies have a realistic approach and theme which one must watch.

Bhanumathi was like a volcano, full of energy. Unusually talented actress, writer, singer, director, music director, producer. Unique film personality of India. When I met ANR few years back, he talked about her, how great she was. Of course, he spoke highly about Suryakantham garu too. PB Srinivas doesn't match NTR, only Ghantasala matched NTR.
Movie shows the contemporary scene of early 1960s.

I heard this film financially did only an average business. But that is very unfortunate. It is far better than many 'masal films and is a class in itself. worth viewing even to day after 55 years of its first release

Movie is really nice. Thought it is a very predictable movie, the way it starts till it ends taking us from one scene after another with ease and interest, makes it worth a watch. What more added to it is the characterizations that the actors strictly adhered to, especially by the leads. ANd Bhanumati garu was a treat to watch with her nuances and NTR garu was a delight to watch in such a reserved portrayal. Dialogues are so so so so beautiful and meaningful highlighting the personalities and the ideal perspectives ..... Maa Illu Bangaramganu .. Bhesh Movie

At that time Bhanumathi was 40 years old and NTR was 41 years old. Suryakantham is actually younger than Bhanumathi.

Acting of NTR and Bhanumathi was pretty reserved and hence was really great to watch. Maybe because the film is a remake of a Bengali film. If it were written by a Telugu writer and was directed similar to other Telugu films of the time, they both would have over-acted, especially NTR and it would have been awful to watch.
Yes. It is a remake of Saat pake bandha 1963 Bengali film with Suchitra Sen and Soumitra Chatterjee. Both have given fantastic performances. It as again remade as Kora Kagaz with Jayabhaduri and Vijayanand. But the original is the best.

She is a timeless and shining example of Indian female lead/protogonist till Hindi film industry destroyed this beautiful trend of bringing the concept of flesh and heroines as equivalents. As always, Southies emulate Northies, and Indians emulate the West. That's an unfortunate trend that killed real talent with meat.
