  • Don Carr presents the PRS 509 solidbody electric guitar. The 509 boasts an amazing array of humbucking and single-coil tones, thanks to five single-coil pickups mounted in the carved figured maple top. The easy-to-use electronics package lets you switch between nine different tonal variations via a 5-way pickup selector and two mini toggles. The 509 also features a mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, 25.25" scale length, mother-of-pearl bird inlays, and a PRS Gen III trem.

Anyone know if the control knobs are push/pull pots?

No they’re not. That’s what the mini toggles are for

Does this add any additional tonal possibilities over the 513? Great playing as always.

Darrell McMillan-thanks for the nice comment! To answer your question, the 509 actually has less possible pickup combinations than the 513 (9 vs 13) but one advantage to me is the individual coil taps for each pickup. With the taps pre-set, you can switch from neck humbucker to bridge tapped or vice-versa in one switch-move. On the 513, you'd have to move two switches to do that.
      Thanks! Don Carr

Hi Rodrigo, they can be found directly below the 22nd fret ;-) Thanks for watching!

Does this guitar suffer from neck diving

coil taps? really? ... I would've expected coil splits that make the neck-most and bridge-most coils active

They’re actually 5 single coils. They’re not tapped. They’re split

It's nice, and I'd consider paying what I pay for a Japanese made Ibanez prestige for one, maybe.
