    Amazed at how many people say they only want to hear music played the same way all the time. I love Bruce and can listen to him play the way he feels every time. That's what geniuses do. And the schmucks that think it's being treated badly just don't get it. The Noisemakers are such a great bunch of musicians.

    B. H. is in my eyes the greatest contempory connector of classic, jazz and best pop music on piano. One of a kind.
    I love his extended poetic improvisations. Like a fresh shower of summer rain.
    And I like him sing so much. A wonderful smooth voice and phrasing.
    And his songs are b.t.w. simple awesome. I never get bored to listen to this music hundreds of times. Simple pleasure.
    Not to forget to mention that: This band ist phantastic!
    Look and listen what fun they all have e. g. from 33:10 to 35:00! Makes me smile broad to.

  • @stephenpuishys3482
    @stephenpuishys3482 Před 9 lety +38

    Seeing Bruce at many stages in his career I can say this, when he used the Range he played most songs as they were recorded. When he did his solo and then the band's he put together he let his jazz influences and the art of improvisation take front stage. Not all of his songs are performed that way but it's just like a solo for a drummer or guitarist in a show. He takes requests left on the stage and sits thru them and plays certain ones his set lists vary. He played a song I requested which was an older less known song so I know he tries to play what people want but in a different style. Not a selfish prick, he is an artist. Do you tell a painter or sculpturist how to do their art? You will like it or not but that's what makes him who he is.

    • @georgebarry8640
      @georgebarry8640 Před rokem

      Yes...I get it. And while I respect it...there is a reason why the label and everyone got behind his work 1984-1989. The material was great. The range were a perfect band to play it,too. But I wish he would return to doing short pieces that dont focus on soloing. A Motif,ok. But if 50% of the song is a guy blowing..well....I am not in for that. I say this, being a guy that writes,records and plays professionally . I respect Bruce...but i also declne to come out when it's isnt that condensed perfection that he distilled for us back when. There are few that can take the World and put it in 3:30. Bruce can. I wish he would LIKE to do that again (sans drum machine would be fine).

    • @IR-yb1tb
      @IR-yb1tb Před rokem

      Actually, now there are albums of a few of the 100s of live shows of Bruce & The Range on CZcams & Spotify- he was definitely mixing it up from early on, you know bits here & there in a show.

    • @IR-yb1tb
      @IR-yb1tb Před rokem

      @@georgebarry8640 Don't think you do get it. BH & The Range weren't mega successful actually, apart from 1st album. 75% of Way It Is & Scenes From the Southside album recordings were Bruce alone so there was no band sound. He felt limited by The Range & didn't want to be a popstar. If you don't like his shows don't go/don't watch online, nobody's forcing you to.

    • @tinfoilsuit
      @tinfoilsuit Před rokem

      @@georgebarry8640yes something to be said for this. But. At what point does an artist not give $hits about any of it? Like he doesn't have the bona fides? It's art. Shouldn't be limited. If mass audiences and Star Makers disapprove, ok.

I guess all of us are able to have our eyes opened and our conscience get a reality check no matter how old we are. I'm guilty of not being a fan of rap at all, but I just got a big reality check about the human creative process.

      @@georgebarry8640 He decided long ago who he wanted to be & has had to accept that being massively creative, innovative, always changing direction & being a total genius will not bring commercial success or popularity. He's the musician & singer he wants to be... can't make him be someone he doesn't want to be. He's got no nostalgia for The Range days or the songs, says he doesn't like the singer & 75% of first 2 albums were his demos + him on a drum machine. Best just to accept that... listen to The Range stuff but he's not going back. He's a brilliant one-off!

    I love Bruce, but it's pretty obvious that the general public is losing track of what real great music is. Because Bruce is doing a concert in Orlando Florida in a couple months, and there still 30 tickets available in the back of the theater. And it doesn't even really look like there's much more than a thousand seats? I'm amazed that thing didn't sell out in like 30 minutes? I'm also amazed at how little people know about great music, or Bruce would still be playing 5000 seat arenas

    Did Bruce really just say that Tupac Shakur was the one that wrote The Way It Is? Unbelievable, I honestly have to confess my dim view of what I thought about Tupac overall, I guess I am guilty of not being a fan of rap , but most of all I am guilty of not understanding that he was very creative in other ways
