Came looking for this after Donald Sutherland died recently. Absolutely loved Backdraft. One of my favourite films of my youth. Had the soundtrack on a cassette and used to listen to it on my Walkman!!!! Watched the movie again recently after Donald died and the music is as good as ever.
I bought this cassette when it came out in 1988. Great album start to finish. I pulled it out of my 400+ cassette collection for the first time recently after almost 34 years. Completely forgetting how great it was and how beautiful this song is. I greatly appreciate it now that I’m much older. Bruce did an interview some time back with a radio host explaining what the song was about. Now every time I hear it, I get lost in the words and paint my own music video. Just a beautiful song all around.

10 years ago tomorrow, 20 children and 6 teachers and administrators were murdered in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. I had no connection to anyone affected by this tragedy, but like everyone after I heard the news I felt a numb sense of grief and despair at such senseless killing the rest of the day. As I sat on the train to go home at the end of that day, this song by Bruce Hornsby and the Range came on in my headphones at the exact moment the train started to pull away from the station. I'm down a serious BH worm hole, listening to all the great songs that moved me decades ago. They feel fresh all over again, emotive and fantastic.
From my childhood to date, this band still tops on my play list. I love their music so much ❤️, and everytime I play any song by the band, something inside of me moves n I realize my eyes are filled with tears.

10 years ago tomorrow, 20 children and 6 teachers and administrators were murdered in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. I had no connection to anyone affected by this tragedy, but like everyone after I heard the news I felt a numb sense of grief and despair at such senseless killing the rest of the day. As I sat on the train to go home at the end of that day, this song by Bruce Hornsby and the Range came on in my headphones at the exact moment the train started to pull away from the station. It felt like the soundtrack to the sorrow of the whole day.
