I just noticed how Colin put his leg up in between them on table, not that a leg would stop them in reality, but as a signal that the didn't want it to escalate anymore. What a great show.
The thing that really bugs me about this is that Greg was setting up a joke. Leary shit on his set up. Like what kinda comedian does that? Obviously there is a joke coming it's FUCKING COMEDY CENTRAL!
Interrupting jokes was kind of a hallmark of this show and one of the reasons I liked it so much. There's plenty of set-up punchline content out there. This show required strategy.
Denis Leary deserved this every time he stepped in the spotlight. The man ripped off America's GREATEST Comedian, who unfortunately was censored and ultimately passed away from Cancer. Bill Hicks was the best...and always will be.
I put bill hicks alongside George Carlin, as they were both very wise, but as comedians ehh... When I watch their specials I hear more clapping than laughing.
I might come of like a douche here but on my oppinion Hicks never struck me as funny. It just feels like he has no punchlines just rants. Not saying he isn't talanted the number of people that love his comedy speaks for itself.
At 3:38, Leary has this look on his face like "how did Greg flip this around on me." His expressions every time Greg says something funny are priceless.
I saw his the entire vide of all the roasts he was ever in. Without a doubt, you could tell how smart and brilliant he truly was. Not to mention he was a lawyer. He was incredible in every sense of the word. He is and always will be missed 🙏🙏
What's interesting about this is that Greg's "written" jokes that got the biggest laughs on the show, didn't get as big of a laugh as his improvised jokes! He didn't actually need to write anything. He could've just showed up one minute earlier and still be the funniest person on the show. RIP
I watched this live and was a huge Denis Leary fan at the time. Denis was a GIANT and it felt like he was giving to charity by appearing on a Comedy Central show that came on at 11:30. Not to sound condescending, but it was kind of a big deal that he was on Colin's little show. (BTW, I loved Tough Crowd and CQ), and this was appointment television. What happened next was a comedy disemboweling we have never seen since. When it was clear Denis came in to perform off-the-cuff and was willing to survive off wit alone (which I did think he had clever moments), Greg went in for the kill. Leary was no match for a smarter and more prepped Giraldo. Greg allowed Denis to stumble over his own feet and executed him standing. This is brutal, and hilarious, to watch.
I just love how Giraldo is IMMEDIATELY ready to fire back whenever Leary makes a comment- dude has the look in his eyes of a prizefighter who knows he's about to land a knockout.
Giraldo was trying to set up his Korean nail salon joke and Leary f'd it up by getting all serious. The "Big Russian War " was a brilliant & witty comeback.
If Denis Leary knew history or thought a little bit harder about Giraldo's comeback, he could have said, "Oh, you mean that Big War where millions of people were bombed or shot up in proxy wars?" Giraldo was trying to set up a joke, but I don't think Denis knew that.

@@dimebagdave77 oh, brother, you’re not alone. I am quite sure you noticed that comedy has died. I’m almost 40 and I know our best days are behind us regarding comedy, free speech, I could go on. I was arguing with some softie the other day, I told him to watch Rickles during a Martin roast. Just so he could see that people of all walks of life used to have a sense of humor, laughed, and gave it back just as hard.
You’d think kids grew up without proper parenting and teaching. It’s no shock we are where we are.
@@brettbaratheon9776 I'll give them this, it'll be real interesting to see what kind of insanity all this will lead too😆I took things for granted in the past, back then progressive meant being even more bold than the smartass that came before you.and the freakin horror movies RULED..
Dennis should have just took that first loss. He got but hurt about it, and then dug himself into a deeper hole
exactly, if you know you can't win the fight why continue to engage
@@slick3996 ego. Don’t underestimate it. Narcissists cannot compute getting a dent to their character. In front of people no less.
Too bad that Bill Hicks wasn't there to help Denis to make a comeback.
I'm surprised Leary didn't steal Giraldo's jokes when he past away
*passed. Sorry, I had a Bob Kelly moment.
He already was so rich from CK and Bill
he past
No, you got him all wrong. Leary will steal from you when you're alive to your face. The man was nothing if not a man of integrity.
I love the look on Giraldo's face...he had that comeback ready. You could see he was just waiting for the quiet before he induced the storm! lol Love that guy, and the comedy world misses him badly. I don't think the comedy world even noticed when Leary was gone from it.
Greg Giraldo was the best "no name" in comedy. You can tell a genuine talent by the fact that all his peers loved him.
Giraldo owned him. No two ways about it.
This was awesome! Greg was an assassin.. Dennis was livid to say the least!
Greg was an "assassin" but he was a decent guy too...Leary is neither. Just an unlikeable egomaniac who steals jokes and can't take a joke.
@@Mikekramercomedy the worse kind of “comedian”, a true hack. I agree, man.
Maybe Leary will get some more work if another Ice Age comes out.
this wasn't enough versus. Colin Quinn should have put his knee back down and let Geraldo finish off Leary
yessss.
a+ comment
Agreed, woulda loved that.
fuck leary that worthless unfunny bill hicks rip-off copy cat parasite! rip giraldo, one of the fucking greats!!! he woulda fuckin' pounded leary into the ground with insult jokes like atomic bombs ...man i miss giraldo, mitch and patrice so fucking bad!!!
Quinn smothered and killed a great segment.
Dude was trying to act like the coolest guy in the room so fucking hard. Glad Greg got him rattled.
Wow, he's so cool. He's wearing shades indoors. What a cool clever guy.
The way Colin puts his leg up on the table was a subtle way to defuse the situation.
Not so subtle
"that big russian war"
hahahahahahh leary always makes an ass out of himself
3:27-4:28 is the best part of this clip. I watched this show often when it aired in 2002-2004. I miss Greg. He deserved more recognition and success than he received. Respect to you, Mr. Greg Giraldo. You left this earth way too soon in 2010.
I remember seeing this live and thinking: that's a classic moment in comedy TV history and it's gone forever, now here I am watching it again
I forget who it was, but one of the cellar comics summed up this entire ordeal perfectly. Greg didn't even have to use the the nuclear stuff - the joke thievery. He was smart enough to riff circles around Leary.
Damn... Leary got stomped *hard*... and he had nothing... just a pissy little "did you ever have a show?"
What a failure of a comedian. It's no wonder he bailed on stand up comedy as soon as he got big.
I still think No Cure for Cancer was complete genius, I laughed through the whole show. Why can't we love everyone and not pick sides? I find certain things funny with Giraldo and certain things funny with Denis. I am not going to hate one just because the other one said a better joke on a topic. Example I watched a stand up video with Kat Williams, though I wasn't amused I am not going to say I hate him and call him a failure. Look at it this way he has accomplished more then you have. You know who he is and no one knows who you are. How can you fail when still alive? Anyone can rebound if in the slums of life. My truth..

e3IZrZ or if a better comedian dies and you're able to steal part of his schtick to boost your own comedy routine. I found his specials to be funny, but there not completely made up of his material I've come to find/notice. You got a little overly philosophical there for a youtube comment defending Dennis Learly lol.
Ryan Orbinson
I agree I did, but someone has to make a stand.
I liked that routine better when Bill Hicks performed it.
@@e3IZrZ Nope, nothing changed because of your comment, it was pointless and useless, it wasn't "taking a stand".
Here from the Hey Babe Pod 👏🏼😂
I love how Dennis says "let's go in" the guy has never been in the army or done any form of public service and says "let's go in" like war is no biggie
Colin should've asked him whether he's ready for the military draft after that "let's go in".
Let's go in. Hundreds of thousands possibly millions will die, with the added benefit of nuclear holocaust, let's go in!
He's is the 90s early 2000s equivalent of modern right-wing comedians complaining about "cancel culture" when they slightly criticize for saying racist shit.
After that Russian remark... Denis Leary's next special... Denis Leary: yeah remember that big Russian war we had with Russia.
Greg was an awesome comedian he was hilarious. His memory lives on with his comedy and videos of him roasting others, his stand ups he was great
I just noticed how Colin put his leg up in between them on table, not that a leg would stop them in reality, but as a signal that the didn't want it to escalate anymore. What a great show.
4:20 one of the best lines ever in live tv...maybe the best.
He needed him to repeat it in order for him to write it down so he could steal it for his own act.
@@charissarooks1739 sorta. Most follow the ‘yes and’ rule. They might have a rebuttal but it’s accepting the premise of the joke.
Doesn’t surprise me watching this that Giraldo went to Harvard and was a lawyer
and Leary was a dumb shit
Lawyers are lucky he chose comedy
"America's GREATEST Comedian" Hicks is overrated. But Leary ripped him off alright.
Hicks death was faked. He is living as Alex Jones now. :-I
Man agreed. Hicks was ahead of his time. Hicks, Carlin and Pryor top 3.
I'll never forget this. Thank you for posting this. Everyone was great, Lenny Clarke is great and r.i.p Greg Geraldo.
At a Last Comic Standing audition, Greg Giraldo told me that I had potential. He will always be one of my comedy heroes.
At 3:38, Leary has this look on his face like "how did Greg flip this around on me." His expressions every time Greg says something funny are priceless.
When you resort to the , "Yeah my show, did you ever have a show?" insult. You know you got your shit handed to you. 🤣
RIP
That big Russian war. Leary OWNED!! Absolutely priceless
The late great Greg Giraldo! Quick on his feat, funny AND making valid points. RIP
Greg was so fast, he had a response ready as soon as Dennis closed his mouth
Feel like Dennis still thinks about this every day 😂
4:08 body slam for Giraldo. Miss that guy.
You play with the bull, you get the horn.
Sad Greg is gone. He was a Legend. My favorite. I was too young to ever see him live. But still listened over the radio. Good times.
RIP Giralddo. You made me laugh.
One of the greatest comedians of his generation. Roast in peace Greg, you are missed.
I feel that too many have forgotten Greg. Fantastic comedian
Come back to this every few years to feel the pain.
Leary admitted on his own later on, that Giraldo got the better of him here.
Trending InterActive Studios ....but he's still an enormous twat.
Trending InterActive Studios Yes, but what else could Leary say?
@Brazilian Atlantis That's true.
But he probably said if after Greg passed
I noticed Bill Hicks wasn't mentioned once during the Leary roast. I wonder if that was a prequisite for him agreeing to do it.
It never gets old watching Greg putting Leary in his place
I can now see how being a trained lawyer and an experienced comedian would be great attributes for either profession.
This is brutal, and hilarious, to watch.
greg is and always will be the dude. so quick to come back at leary in this segment and pretty much embarrassing for dennis
IMO There was nobody better at insults than Giraldo
Giraldo was justifiably merciless in vanquishing one of comedy's most prolific hacks.
I like how Colin got in between them at the end of the clip.
Bryan Vokey and the No Sir I Dont Like It podcast sent me here and I'm so glad lmao the look on DeNis face when Greg clapped back was priceless
Guys imagine if patrice was here on this episode too. Greg and patrice as a duo were my favourite part of tough crowd.
I just love how Giraldo is IMMEDIATELY ready to fire back whenever Leary makes a comment- dude has the look in his eyes of a prizefighter who knows he's about to land a knockout.
We need this show now more then ever.
Giraldo was trying to set up his Korean nail salon joke and Leary f'd it up by getting all serious. The "Big Russian War " was a brilliant & witty comeback.
I don't understand the joke, please explain.
If Denis Leary knew history or thought a little bit harder about Giraldo's comeback, he could have said, "Oh, you mean that Big War where millions of people were bombed or shot up in proxy wars?"
Giraldo was trying to set up a joke, but I don't think Denis knew that.
Leary was, is, and always will be one of the biggest comedic hacks in history.
Its funny how Dennis is all but forgotten about, and Greg is still a legend.
Leary has had a long career in TV.
@@5wheels178 and he’s still alive, unlike Geraldo
That Russia comment really pissed Leary off . Thought for sure Giraldo was gonna call Leary a joke theif when he went after his joke writing
