Any time they hit the wall it concerning . Was a minor hit , I’ve seen in years passed many devastating crashes in the wall before they installed the soft wall . Super glad he’s OK !!

There should be a concussion protocol just like in the NFL!
I mean, they literally get evaluated at an onsight medical center. They also really don't need a concussion protocol in racing, because no one is being forced to go back out onto the track immediately after crashing into the wall like that. The car isn't even drivable.

Changed an engine in the morning. He ran a few laps in the afternoon, but was slow.

That's NOT a "big hit". The team can have that fixed in no time. It'll practically buff out. For a " big hit" see Marcus Ericsson's crash later on Thursday.
My daughter was at the Indy 500 Practice today for a field trip. She saw the crash. Happened during her lunch time.

Its still a bad crash
For IndyCar standards, it’s “soft”, but there’s nothing soft or easy about hitting a wall at around 200 mph no matter how safe the cars and wall are.
