songwriting, a lot of his stuff just wasn't radio friendly. He had a poet writing lyrics and they were really disjointed I feel and most people couldn't relate. I thought the stuff was brilliant. He was a musicians musician. Not only that but it seemed at least in the states, the radio just wouldn't push him enough. There are a lot of great songs on those first three albums, not to mention the Max Webster stuff.
There are some songs that are just damn good, this is one of them. In fact, I can say MANY of those come from Canadian Rock bands, if not most of them.

we were on summer vacation, driving from Regina, Sask to NFLD, and were stopped in this crappy little greasy spoon diner somewhere in Quebec. there were these skinny dudes in tight black bunny hugs sitting next to us eating. they staff seemed to know who they were. went in to the bathroom, and had a pee next to the singer. turns out it was kim mitchell., this was right before patio lanterns hit big. had no idea. nice guy tho!
