      7.5 strictly due to missed tackles caused by being a little over his skis at times. One highlight hit doesn’t make up for 3 missed assignments but he’ll get better every year with that..pro bowl potential

      PLAJ has the best Jets content on CZcams right now. Honestly don't really care for all the gossipers who never delve into true football analysis and breakdowns. It's like watching reality TV or something. I like watching football. Jets X Factor is similar in that they actually show football, but their presentation style leaves a lot to be desired. PLAJ hits everything perfectly.

    Even with the 14% miss tackles, he did a much better job than his first season with the Jets. We all hope that season 3 under Saleh & Brick can bring out the greatness in this defense. Like always Mate, thank you for the break down.

    Luke, you keep crushing it my man. I don't know what to make of Quincy, my hope is a 3rd year in the system and he takes a TJ Edwards like leap in his play. In recent memory he's the only LB I can think of that made a significant jump in their career at around the 26 - 28 year old range. So I'm crossing my fingers that at the end of the year, what many ppl thought was an "overpay" just to help retain Quinnen Williams looks like a bargain or a solid deal at worst.

    • @PlayLikeAJet
      @PlayLikeAJet  Před rokem

    Love your work man. One thing with this video: to me the splash play and the missed tackle are related. In the last play for instance he dips his head and leaves his feet. It’s a split second thing. When players see him coming and can juke there’s a split second where he should breakdown but he can’t tell the difference between the situations. If he broke down every time he wouldn’t be making the splash tackles as often. Question is whether he would give up any more yards. I’d love to see examples when he does breakdown and then form tackle. I’d love to know if the rate increased from 21 to 22.

    • @PlayLikeAJet
      @PlayLikeAJet  Před rokem

      I agree 30000%.
      The reason the big hits and misses happen is directly correlated.
      Off the film I watched, I saw no change in form from year to year

    Where did you pull the Missed Tackle Rate % (MTkl%) from? I was searching to see how others on the Jets did and the number I found is different. I’ll post a link to pro football reference where I found 7.8% not 14%; down from 9.8% in ‘21
    My bad if I am reading it wrong or have a different stat from what you are addressing here.

  • @justycegordon4288
    @justycegordon4288 Před rokem +2

    Don't think the issue is dropping his head because he does it even with the great plays he makes. The bigger issues are him overrunning the plays trying to make the big hit everytime instead of staying on the instead hip hen taking his angles, and its also wrapping up like you mentioned which the entire team struggled with last year. Hopefully Saleh gets in their ear about it cause it was a big problem

    • @PlayLikeAJet
      @PlayLikeAJet  Před rokem +2

      Dropping your head leads to an inability to deal with change of direction, especially when you lose your feet.
      It’s feast of famine

    • @justycegordon4288
      @justycegordon4288 Před rokem

      @@PlayLikeAJet Should've been more specific..dropping your head as a defender is a bad thing like you said, but he does that with the tackles he makes too. The bigger issues are his angles and not wrapping up, when hes coming downhill he's angling to the outside shoulder trying to make the big hit which is giving the ballcarrier a choice to make a move in either direction, he needs to angle toward the inside shoulder to eliminate the inside lane which will make it harder for the ballcarrier to make him miss with a move and give him a better chance to secure the tackle, Wrapping up is an issue as well with the entire team.

  • @thomasscannell8549
    @thomasscannell8549 Před rokem

    Both of the missed tackles in the flat where due mainly to leverage. If he uses the sideline and tracks the inside hip, he use his God given ability to close with elite speed and I believe he makes both of those plays!!! (obviously dropping the head is huge problem)

  • @RobEffbrady

    this LB room is very interesting, probably because I have so many questions..lol .. I don't think Nasirldeen makes it this year ....where's Chaz Surratt at ... can Marquis Waters / Trey Dean/ JBC have the position flexibility to get some looks in certain situations..can Zaire Barnes step in immediately and take some reps in that Kwon role .... and then there's a guy I been pounding the table for them to bring in since he got released ( I know it's a crowded room but give him a chance to compete) and that's Tae Crowder - the only other hit that I've seen demolish Derrick Henry ..lol go check out the hit 🔥 ... great work as usual Luke

    Thanks man, can't argue with facts, like you said get that athletic ability under control, new season let's see if he's learned from his over zealous play,, you have to think the Jets coaches and players have brought it to his attention, but I agree superman and I'd lovevto know why he wears # 56 which to me could be the most dominant player ever, LT , love the breakdown! now ill be watching ,,,

    You are not right about the first “bad” play you commented on vs patriots. He was downhill, the guard basically hip checked him as he was about to unload on Stevenson and knocked him off line. Keep in mind, 5’11 225, has to play to his strengths. Can’t be getting tied up with guards, he shoots gaps and got hip checked

    There seems to be a lack of situational awareness when determining when wrap up and get off the field or make a splash play. Has to be play smarter. Can that be coached?

    Thankfully I think this defense could use a player or two like this…maybe not last yr but NOW we’ll have the chance to play riskier in order to force some turnovers, and if he puts his helmet on the ball more it could pay huge dividends…plus he hypes the rest of the D when he hits gold

  • @gwell66v2AnimeReviews

    3:10 I think he got himself caught off balance and the NE OL got enough on him to eff him up. Still, cant lose balance there when outside contain is needing you to help.

      I don’t think he’s an overpay. Never said that.
      Just that he’s still a highly inconsistent player at this time in his career.
      He can take another step by irradiating the bad missed tackles
