32:50 if you use a medium, a varnish or dedicated fixer, it will indeed change the look. Two products that keep the look almost completely are IPA (be a little careful to not damage the paintjob of your mini) and white spirit (won't harm the acrylics at all). The reason I tend to use IPA is that it preserves the look of the dry pigments a little better. IPA also smooths out the surface a little (which scale wise looks better to my eye). Both options don't actually "fix" the pigment, but they will help keep the pigment on your bases compared to now fixer whatsoever.
This is super rad! Staying tuned, hoping you eventually do a 30k/ grimdark alpha legion in the future. Too many nmm schemes but that HH artwork purple-blue to green🥵
@@ThomasWinslove I know, I know, but Tamiya acrylics are using different medium as far as I remember (I use them for bigger models cause they work way better with an airbrush and chipping mediums) and every single scale model shop says a huge no-no to mixing them with Vallejos / Citadels / Anything less toxic than my ex.
Micro sol is really necessary. It completely changes the transfer and makes it look so it isn't a transfer. Your transfer is really very noticeable you can see the lip all around it even with gloss varnishing. I don't even have to varnish over a transfer for it to be completely flat after using micro sol. There's a reason why scale modellers swear by it and have done for many years!
As always a great video, sir! I have a question regarding your palette: when I am painting, sometimes the colours tend to separate with the water after some time and pool a lot more than on your palette. Do you add dish soap to your water or why do the colours behave so much different for me?
I don't add anything to the paints apart from water. Mostly I keep stirring them but it might also be that you have too much water in your wet palette. Also, some paints are different to others and more prone to separating.
Why use tamiya thinner with citadel paints? Can’t you just use normal, cheap airbrush thinner? Thought tamiya was specially formulated for tamiya paints or something.

Richard struggling through GW paint names continues to be my favourite thing!
It is actually quite funny :-)
Thanks for creating such fantastic videos and inspiring average painters like me.
Happy Christmas Richard. Thanks for the terrific videos this year. All the best for 2023 to everyone who's been watching along with me as well!
I like the shot of the pallet in the corner, it really helps and you seem to have really nailed keeping everything in focus.
Absolutely beautiful.

‘I do have a DG army…’ which juuust happens to include the gold award-winning large model from Golden Demon 2019? The mind boggles. 😂
It has a few Golden Demon trophy winning pieces in ;)
At 15:06 did he say "a bit of a newb painter like me". The best never quite realize it do they.
Rich, I'm glad I'm not the only one who slaughters GW's paint names. 😂
Thanks for the video, and I hope you had a great Christmas weekend!
This is prefect, thank you so much.
No problem 😊
I’d love to see you approach a salamander - particularly some flames (actual flames, rather than patterns on the armour). Merry Christmas! 🎅
Awesome, I was waiting for this one since I'm eyeing some HH DG models.
Love it - really enjoy the commentary and your painting is beautiful!

Another fantastic video and incredible piece! the colors are just so nice!
Always enjoy your videos keep up the good work.
Can you do a Death Guard Praetor for Horus Heresy?
Jesus Christ that is smooth
Merry Christmas Richard
Merci pour la vidéo
Looking forward to this..also, could not avoid to notice the typo on the title.
It should read "Death gourd", an affectionate name for their distended stomachs
Oooh this should be good! Richard did you mention you were doing a Cadian shock trooper at some point?
It's actually interesting, cause every single information I've found on Tamiya X-20a is that it shouldn't be used with water-based acrylics :D

Since I don't have an airbrush, can I skip the first part and go directly to priming white with AK primer Spray White?
Ya rhinex hide instead of black for chipping ya i like that more to.
Richard, would it be possible to have a video(s) showcasing your freehand work? Thank you
I think he put one up on patreon recently - the patreon is absolutely terrific if you want to learn to paint to a higher standard
@@battspaints Ah right, thank you, that makes sense now I think of it.
It's match with stippling technique ?
Id really like to know what brush you use for your chip highlights.
What do you reckon would be a good colour for "contrast washing" purple/magenta?

Can we get a raven guard video
I will be doing one!
@@demonrich the imperium thanks you for your hard work

It says "Gaurd" in the thumbnail. No idea if you can fix this easily.
Step one... Use MKIII
Jk, looks good, about to start a DG army as I've nearly finished my 3k SoH so this is a great help

So you've definitely quit using oils?
