WHY "KIRK HAMMETT" SUCKS AT GUITAR PLAYING…or so they say....

- Here is 5 reasons a lot of guitarists seem to dislike Kirk Hammett's guitar playing abilities. Personally, I think Kirk is a really good player and has written some absolute classic guitar solos with Metallica. What do you think?

We all know that he have limitations in terms of technical skills and improvisations. His live performances sometimes are complitely out of tune like fade to Black 1991 in Moscow or And Justice .... In Seattle 1989. But He was great on Black Album, especially wherever I may roam or my friends of misery and the unforgiven solos are fantastic.

He's continuously devolved. I admired his work in the '80s.

Stick at it man, there is so much information online these days to learn guitar. I still use mainly books because that’s how I started, just learning stuff from tablature books and theory/technique books. 🤘🎸
@@GuitarGodzUnleashed I have been sticking with it! It’s fun and I enjoy it. I got a few books on scales on modes I think I’m just not there yet because I do not know how to use the scales or modes to create a solo… but I’ll get there eventually. I use my Gibson app to show me how to play and learn and I use Songsterr and Ultimate Guitar to learn songs. Which I find fun learning the music I have listened to my whole life!🤘🏽
Best music he did was ride the lightning, even the black album Bob Rock had to push hard to get anything good out him. The producer on the last few albums just agrees with anything they all do and in the making of the hard wired album you can see Lars telling Kirk what to play.
Lars is the master of puppets pulling the strings…Twisting Kirks mind, smashing his dreams! 🎸🤘
Maybe playing out of key at the Jeff Beck tribute show would be a good example? look at the bass players face behind him when she realizes he's screwing it up.
Used to love kirk when i first played guitar. That was 26 years ago though. As i have aged and got better at guitar, yourealise how his style and skill is pretty average. Saying that, the unforgiven solo is on my top 5 solos of all time. Most of his other solos and phrasing makes me cringe though. His vibrato and sloppy choice of notes bugs me slightly. He's a nice guy though.
any university jazz graduate can play much better. in high school the regional arts students rang circles around Kurt’s stuff! No, Kurt has not improved in 60 years. Alex and Marty are educated, creative and such virtuoso guitarists. Larnell Lewis was a student of mine❤ We won’t even get into LA or Nashville session players.happy picking all.

All guitarists are unique in their own style of playing, I prefer all the older Metallica music but there have been a few good songs over the years by them, but lots of their music sounds the same, but as a band they are awesome.
Better to see them live than the studio recordings imo? 🤘🎸
@@GuitarGodzUnleashed yes thats right, i'm from Wales but anyway my nephews drove to Munich via the channel tunnel to watch them a few weeks back and they said it was an awesome concert. Also myself listens to many guitarist's such as Satriani which I seen, and then you have the unique John5, Vai, Batio etc but also great guitarists such as Yngwie I have heard playing sloppy especially on the acoustic and some of them are awful for a guitarist like him I just cant listen to them, when Yngwie is plucking the strings its just sounds like TINK TINK TINK TINK at high speeds haha.
That’s cool man Metallica are def still worth seeing they’ve still got it even though they are becoming old now.
Yngwie seemed improved on his latest tour but a couple of years ago he was playing a lot more sloppy for some reason. I’ve never liked his acoustic tone on those Ovations, the tone sounds real paper thin and you can’t really hear the notes that are being played with any clarity or sustain imo. The acoustic sound he had on the first couple of albums, such as Icarus Dream Suite was really nice, I wonder why that was? 🤔🎸🤘
@@GuitarGodzUnleashed yes they are still doing well and his vocals are still strong unlike Axel Rose haha... The slappy tappy tinking stuff that Yngwie was playing was awful it did not sound good at all and yes you are right as could not hear some of it, maybe it don't sound to bad in a smaller room but not for big concerts, and his older music was great like the ones you mention Suite op is awesome, dreaming etc. Also another great guitarist that we don't hear much about is Tosin Abasi, he is very different than others and got his own style as many sound the same.
