I forgot to subscribe after the Bohemian Rhapsody video but I was excited when I saw this as your 2nd reaction. I'd love to see you react to the Evolutions of Music, Beyonce and Michael Jackson to give you a good feel for them and also their newer ones, Hallelujah and Imagine are great starters as well. And YES...headphones are a must. You will certainly notice a difference and you will likely be blown away even more. Love to watch the birth of a new Pentaholic, we are loyal to reactors, the more you do, the more we will watch! Welcome to the fandom!!

You should react to their Imagine, Hallelujah, Cheerleader, Gold and No.
Yes, they harmonized together perfectly and it's a pleasure to hear them live. You can watch their Silent Night (live), they sound like angels in this.
Also check out Beyoncé by Superfruit (it's a side channel of two guys from Pentatonix, Mitch and Scott)

Hi Regina! Great recommendations! Can people react "No" now? I LOVED watching them but they all got blocked or they had to be pitched due to copyright. Either way, you guys should watch it regardless of a reaction. Be careful with the Christmas ones, though. I suggest maybe checking for other reactions of christmas songs - some are ok, others are not. Silent Night Live is ok (and AMAZING!!! Live in a church) but often the christmas ones get blocked due to copyright. Can't wait to see what's next!

I love watching new baby Pentaholics being born!! I'm so glad that you guys had such a great response to the "Boheman Rhapsody Reaction Video" that you chose to do more!!!!! I can promise Pentaholics while flock to your channel to watch your reactions. I'm not sure why, but watching new reactors discover Pentatonix is a favorite pastime for Pentaholics across the globe! The group is made up of Scott Hoying (the blonde), Kirsten (NOT KRISTEN) Maldonado (the girl), Mitch Grassi (the little guy with the soprano skills), Avi Kaplan (the bass) and Kevin Olusula ( the beat-boxer). And just to note .... out of approximately 70 videos, they only have instruments in about 5 songs. "Radioactive" featuring Lindsey Stirling of America's Got Talent and CZcams fame plays violin while Kevin plays his cello (he named Beyoncé). "Papatoui", a French song Pentatonix did for the French fans, in which Lindsey once again collabs. And their cover of "Say Something" as well. I'm sure I forgot a couple, but the rest are instrument free and ALL voice, clap, stomp and finger snapping (using only their bodies and voices really). Hope this answers some of your questions!! Keep up the PTX videos!!!!!!

Also, the beatboxer's name is Kevin. He is INSANELY talented! He does this thing called cello-boxing where he plays the cello and beat boxes at the same time. It's NUTS! If you ever want to react to the solo members projects, they all have individual stuff that's all amazing. Kevin did a cello-boxing cover of Sam Smith's Stay With Me that is incredible.

    @HBKCommish Před 7 lety +67

They are VERY talented. They practice a lot to get their timing down. Especially Avi and Kevin are constantly making sure the beats and timing are down. That being said, their timing isn't always perfect when they are live, but that's not coming from a critical standpoint. I personally like that, because it shows that they are ACTUALLY live. But videos like this one, mostly likely had HUNDREDS of takes, and through editing they clean up the timing a little bit. They, almost always, avoid overlaying tracks of the same person though, because they like to be able to actually perform it live. Can't do that if you're overlaying multiple tracks out of the same person. There is a few occasions in their studio tracks where they will overlay one of Kevin's beats with another beat, but it's rare and the few times they've done that, it was literally for only 10 seconds or so.

They won a Grammy for this video. They spent maybe 500 dollars on the video. It was all filmed in a kitchen and a closet, a lot of it just using an iPad. Raw talent is what saw them through. They can take anything and make it a treasure, that's their talent as a group.

They've had many, many years working together to perfect their harmonizing. The way they do their songs is by working together instead of one of them doing it alone, that way they all find their special parts and tones in that song. They sound just as good live as they do in the studio because of it as well.
Anyways, please react to their Hallelujah and GOLD covers.

They are acapella. No instruments. Four voices and a beat boxer. They won 'The Sing-Off' in 2013. Also check out 'Home Free' which is another acapella group that does mainly country. Their best boxer, Adam Rupp, is considered one of the best beat boxers of all time. Their bass, Tim Foust, is one of the few five-octave singers in the world. Chronologically they began as a group the night before they auditioned for "The Sing-Off" season 3 . the 3 main singers had sang together forever. Scott wanted to try out for The Sing Off, and they needed a bass and a beatboxer. So the trio met Kevin and Avi the night before, back in 2011, and they won the show. Those amazing moments on stage as a group performing before an audience and National TV are chronicled on CZcams as "Pentatonix, The Sing-Off, Season 3" and are referred to by performance number. I recommend MrDuckBear 11 (or was it 13? 🤔) for the best playlist. You HAVE to wear headphones for these or you can't hear the bass (Avi) and he's freakishly talented. listen to the judges comments, and wait until the video runs totally to the end for the group reacting backstage after most performances. Their Video, "Daft Punk" was filmed and recorded in a closet and a kitchen, respectively. This video won them their first Grammy Award! I love your personalities!

PTX sounds just as good live. All 5 have been singers/musicians since they were kids. Scott, Mitch and Kirstie grew up together and sang as a trio in high
school. So they had their 3 part harmonies down before PTX was formed. Avi and Kevin have rounded out their sound to give them the bass and beat that lets them sound like a full band but on some songs like 'Imagine' PTX does this unbelievable 5 part harmony that people always says sounds like a chior from Heaven.

After your first reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody I immediately subscribed. Most of the original fans of Pentatonix saw them on the Acapella competition show "The Sing Off". They won that show and there are 10 or 12 songs (I don't remember for sure) for each step of the competition all on CZcams. If you liked the guitar in Bohemian then you will love his horn in the Marvin Gaye classic "let's get it on" right at the beginning. Plus you can see what they looked liked and hear the story how Avi and Kevin joined them for the first time just 24 hours before the competition started. I hope I got all my facts straight. If not, I'm sure I'll hear about it 😀

They rarely use instruments, except in a few of their collaborations and a little with Kevin playing the cello, but they're more likely to give him space for some solos.
They all have separate projects going. Kevin released some of his music a year or two? ago. Scott and Mitch, as Superfruit, released part one of a two-part album this month, I think. Kirstin has just released an album, and Avi, as Avriel and the Sequoias, released an album in June. Avi has also announced he is taking a step back from Pentatonix as of the end of their summer tour. There's a video where he makes that announcement, and he is surrounded by the other four members of the band.

I love your ptx reactions. This group is so talented and creative and amazing. Sadly, Avi (the bass) has decided he can't keep up with the incredibly busy Pentatonix touring and travelling schedule, and is leaving the band. Ptx said they will look for a replacement, but they are all busy with solo projects at the moment, so no one knows if or when that will happen. Avi has just put out his first solo EP, which has its roots in American folk music. He will stay with ptx through their summer tour dates, then will stay closer to home and focus on his solo projects. Kirsten just put out her first solo pop single, with an EP coming out in a few weeks. Scott and Mitch have a channel on CZcams called Superfruit, and they also put out music as Superfruit. Kevin, the beatboxer, has had a couple of side projects over the past couple of years, too. I hope you will continue to react to Pentatonix, as well as to the individual members projects. :-)

Kevin is the beat boxer and Mitch is the tenor. Avi is bass. Kirsten, Scott and Mitch have sung together since high school and have been composing too. Bohemian Rhapsody was done around 2018 or so before Avi left.

Just in case you didn't know, Scott (the blonde) and Mitch (the little guy with the angel voice) have their own channel called Superfruit. They do skits, chat, singing, and other things on their own channel. Also, Avi has announced that he is stepping back from the group.

I'll recommend all the 'evolution of' videos they did, great gateway drug for Pentatonix. *laugh* Also their Sing-Off performances for their early days.

So literally no instrumental or auto tune to their voices. It’s amazing how they can make the normal voice to electronic.

Yes!! Watch everything people are recommending on the comments cuz it's all amazing, I mean you can't really go wrong when choosing a PTX video to react to. And if you want you can also check out the solo projects they each have cuz everything is also awesome! I recommend Kevin Olusola's Stay With Me cover and Julie-O (this performance czcams.com/video/3gBjDEiBGFY/video.html), Avi has his own band now called Avriel and the Sequoias and they have awesome videos out already (my favorite is Sweet Adeline though), Kirstin has a debut single with a music video called Break a Little, and Superfruit (Scott and Mitch) have some songs out too and soon will have two EP's out (I suggest reacting to the video to Bad 4 Us).

Yup- they're always acapella (only voices- no instruments) unless otherwise mentioned. They've done some songs with Kevin's cello or Lindsey Stirling, the violinist, but otherwise they're always all voices.
