It's not even from the same language family.
Something like 95% of all entertainment consumed in Finland is American-made, so people learn American English at an early age. I'm about the same age as Darude, and I learned English by watching Masters of the Universe.

There is a hardstyle bootleg of the song which is so amazing. Whenever it is played the crowd goes crazy. Since it's no offical remix it doesn't get played often though

I was there when this first came out, I remember it being at the top of the charts for so long back when the charts were something people paid attention to. Me and my family used to watch a show called top 30 hits in ireland in the 90s and that's where I remember it from. I'm sure we commented on how long this stayed around. A song doesn't have this kind of staying power unless it really is a work of brilliance or just a meme, and memes weren't around back then in the way they are now so I say the former.

Whenever i hear sandstorm i think of when i when i was a child. My parents took me to a familday at a farm school where they had alot of posts and activities. But what was stuck in my mind was the showoff of the horses riding obstacles with sandstorm in the background. FYI, the music was faster than the horses. But still it stuck so hard that i relive that moment everytime i hear sandstorm.
