Check out my other reviews I've done czcams.com/play/PLC0dZgVosHtsxPvzkIDswjw2YjCVodY6Y.html
in the dealership, l see quad bike, ever think about to try it?
How would you compare this bike to your gsxs1000
if you wanna review my 22 ducati ss lmk i gotchu or my ninja shifu 😅
How do I tell the difference between mt10 2022 and 2023 then ?
I owned one of the very first MT10's back in 2016. I've still got it now with 31,000 miles on. It's never missed a beat, not a single issue in 7 years.
Such an exciting bike
Same with my 2017 FZ-09. Yamaha really is the king of reliability
@@DB-sd3cw My 1st bike was a Yamaha FZ6R back in 2011. I rode that thing for almost 10 years and hit 59,000 miles before finally selling it. I did NOT experience any single mechanical issue with that machine!
Hey, awesome to hear, how miles did u get from a set of sprockets and chain? What r u on now?
@Colin M I've just fitted the second chain and sprocket set. I could probably have got 20K out of each set but after seeing an owner with a snapped chain and holed crankcase at 20K I like to be cautious.
Think a lot depends how your riding style and chain maintenance routine
@@Banditmanuk
Yeah, thanks 4 th reply. I thought chain's may have gotten better, over the years, but obviously not. Think l'll stick with a diff. I had a chain let go on me once also. Didn't wreck the bike, just some superficial damage, still rode it home after a temporary fix.
I'm a proud owner of a black older version and I love her even more than the first day I rode it. Capable bike for everything, may be a bit thirsty but perfect bike in my opinion. Sure it's a perfect third bike in your garage.
I bought a 22 last October and I absolutely love this bike.2016 R1200RT is for long trips with the wife.both bikes are fun in different ways.
Bought my MT-10 new in 2019. Now on 30k+ miles with daily commutes, week-long tours, track days and riding in all weather, all the time. What a bike.
Sintered road/race brake pads restore a lot of initial bite and feel-the stock pads are shocking. Rear suspension is set up soft from factory, so (correctly) firming up preload, damping and rebound makes the front end more planted.
Super reliable, agile for its size, fast as hell, and a crossplane howl to die for. No plans to sell any time soon…
These are incredible bikes, especially when you factor in the price and the bullet proof reliability. Brakes get better being bedded in. And a possible fluid flush including the ABS system gets you the rest of the way. I'm constantly bleeding my friend's brakes on brand new bikes and getting out an insane amount of air. Something to consider. Earlier MT 10's had pretty bad brakes but Yamaha seems to have sorted this out now. But what a bike. For what you get for the amount of money these costs, it's hard not to want one.
I love crossplane sound a lot! PS brakes will feel better once they brake in 😉
SP makes huge difference then you can adjust suspension settings on the go and has much more settings for your needs definitely suggest to get it.
I have an all black 2019 I bought new. You reminded me about the brakes. They got a LOT better after padding in. I solo tour mine with Shad luggage and a Madstad windshield. It is my little pal and I love it so much. But it is also frustrating because I’ve traded bikes every few years for a long time, and now, this bike is so good, I can’t justify leaving it. 🤔 The dark side is its ferocious power at higher RPM. This bike is for “mature” audiences only. 😅
Nice video! Just sold my modded out 2018 MT-10 and already miss it. I grew up in WV riding dirtbikes and streetbikes there on all the curvy roads, and it was a blast! Moved here to TX and bought the MT-10 and it just wasn't the same riding on mostly straight roads. The MT-10 is definitely a great bike though!
The MT10 is great! Can't go wrong with the MT09 either as a naked bike they just feel incredible to ride.
Had mine for a while now. A set of brake pads in the front fixes the brake feel and a good break in. The SP is nice but the stock suspension is quite good. I did a Penske rear shock on my 2017 but that was not even necessary.
Agreed. The stock suspension is very good. Not even tempted to spend any money on it.
All I did to fix my mt10 brakes was to switch out the pads for brembo streets. Changed the feel instantly. ‘20 model. 👍🤪🇨🇦
I rode over 20,000 miles on a 2018 MT10SP through every weather condition going and around Poland for a couple of years
The bike never missed a beat.
Apart from a few finishing issues caused by electrical cable routing and few plastic clips breaking I couldn't fault it .
I kept it completely standard engine wise except hoses and brake pads.
Mirrors were the only thing I didn't like as they weren't wide enough to see behind you properly.
Great video and video's!
I agree, the bike is a 10 out of 10 but the mirrors are a zero lol if that’s the only thing I can find wrong with it, that’s definitely a win in my book
I just picked up a 2023 MT-10 in that same color scheme and love it so far. It's amazing to ride, getting the ECU flashed tomorrow to unlock it's full potential...
What flash? Did you do block-off’s or y-pipe?
@@JGr3asy Chris at Moore Mafia is doing the flash. You don't need blockoffs, just jam a marble in the AIS/SAI hose and that disables it 100%.
I am keeping the stock exhaust for now, will be nice to have a bike that doesn't draw a lot of attention... My other bikes, a 2022 Ducati Monster+ has the Termi 3/4 kit, my 22 ZX14R has slipons, and my 22 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 has loud exhaust. It will be nice to have just one bike that doesn't wake the dead... lol
Chris is doing all the de-restricting and crap, should pick up about 10hp peak, and more like 20+ out near redline, but keeping those throttlebodies open all the way...
@@SquireSCA
Sounds like an awesome garage Dave
How did Chris's flash go?
Njoy evry ride 🏍👍🍻
@@colinm1325 Flash went awesome as always, Chris is always great to deal with...
The colour scheme is disgusting can’t believe anyone likes this hot garbage look 😂
Also started on 1000 supersport, which I adore and still own. I agree with what you said about rather getting something more upright and light weight. I bought a street triple as a second bike a year later and most of the time that's the bike I tend to take out for a blast.
Outstanding review. Yamaha put all their bikes on a weight diet. The result is fun fun fun. All the reviews I have seen for the MT-10 and MT09 have been awesome. I completely agree about the far superior ergonomics of a naked, standard rider triangle, bike. Just so much less work and so much more fun to live with. I sat on a MT-09 in the dealership and it felt like it was made for me. I was laughing it felt so perfect. Light as hell too.
The brakes are new and have a coating on them you need to burn off. R1 as well. The wheel on the right controls you need to hold in for 5 seconds to open the menu.
Yes, it has cruise control.
I have 2019 MT-10 the brakes are good I got my wife a new MT-07 and the brakes just needed bedded in the brakes work fine after a few miles
I rode the 2022 last year at a demo event and fell in love. Yesterday I just traded in my 2021 Kawasaki Z 900 RS café for the 2023 MT 10.
Oh my God I’m in love. There is nothing about this machine that I don’t like with the exception of the mirrors and that’s an easy fix. The machine is an absolute beast!!
I'm currently on a 2022 Z900! I was also looking at the Z1000 but the MT-10 has the technology that I'm looking for. When the time comes and I like what I see with features and design, I'll get an MT-10.
Get the MT10 SP if you can 😉🏁
@@SirMountainpass lol I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
I bought my 2019 MT-10 as a second motorcycle after having a DR650 for a year. I’ve had the mt-10 over 2 years now and still fall in love every ride. For the power, reliability, electronics and comfort idk if someone could get a better bike for the price. I bought mine January 2020 for 11.7k it’s the previous gen so it doesn’t have as much electronics but I like it that way. What a bike Yamaha has created for a decent price is all I’m trying to say 🤙🏽
Likewise - I love my 2019 MT-10 and I ride it in the Swiss Alps and in the Black Forest (Germany)!
With the accessories catalog you can turn it into a sweet little solo tourer too. OEM windscreen and side bags or a top case. I'm thinking of trading in a S 1000XR for one. I'd go standard also for the black version. In 5 years I've used dynamic suspension setting twice, road is still plenty stiff for most riding.
I just traded my Hayabusa in for this bike 3 days ago. I'm getting too old for the sportbike riding position. I love the sound of the CP4 engine, the standard riding position, the tech, and the easy maintenance. This is my favorite bike so far. My first street bike was a VFR800 from 2002. Nothing beats the thrust of that 2008 Hayabusa. I'm so happy with my Yamaha MT10. I'll keep it for life.
It's funny you mention that I have a 2005 GSXR Hayabusa now and I'm really old I don't look at but I feel like crap LOL I talked to the guy down Libby's Yamaha dealership they got a brand-new mt10 Gray mine's 2005 GSXR Hayabusa I just can't ride anymore my body gets beat up bad how does it compare so far is the power there will I be okay and how's the position for your back
@@richardcerritelli9657 It has great response at low to mid speed, but it falls off around 120 and doesn't push past140. The Hayabusa is the freeway dominator for sure. The riding position is standard, so it's very comfy. The seat will bust your ass though. The quick shifter works up and down without the clutch and it is addictive with the howl of that engine.
Hayabusa looks awful like a bathtub
Tester Schaaf of 1000PS TV has selected the MT10 as his bike of choice for a major tour from Austria to Sardinia island (3’500 kms) based on the power on tap and the comfortable riding position 😎🏁🏁
Speed triple is lighter weight, more power, more torque and comfortable riding position.
If I would take the SP version which makes totally sense for that bike! As it also has the Steelflex brake cables which should make at least a bit of a difference and the SP have the electronic suspension if I remember right. Or you take the new S1000R. Which should be an allround great bike. Not sure if you had the new or the older model of the S1000r as you said in the video.
I did the same thing went for a 1000 cc 2002 fz1 for a first bike and was a wrong choice. I wrecked it in a corner the first month I had it. I wish people would listen to what we have to say it's to much for a beginner. Thanks for this video I'm about to buy a mt10 very shortly. I'm 42 and love the upright stance. Tim Patton from round Rock TX
Yes sir you learned the hard way, liter bikes are not for beginners. I love my 2023 MT 10 but it’s definitely no beginner bike
Since you brought up learning how to ride. I firmly believe dirtbikes are the way to go. You really learn how to become one with the bike. You learn situational awareness and how to deal with a ton of obstacles. Also when you crash it's more forgiving.
I ride a 22 MT 10, with an ecu flash and a few other mods. Hands down the funnest bike I’ve owned for solo riding. No need to ride ridiculously high speeds to have a blast. Enjoy if you buy one.
I agree. After personally owning over 30 bikes and my life my 2023 MT 10 beat them all hands down. No questions asked
I have the 2017 FZ10 with a competition werkes exhaust. Thing is an absolute beast to hear and a pleasure to ride.
I have a 2018 and put quite a few miles on It’s the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Hi Greg! I really suggest you to try the new Triumph street triple 765 RS before you go for MT-10! Less power, but smoother triple engine and very refined parts. Greetings from Hungary (EU)
another review said the SP suspension is more compliant on the street, which is a + for me. i think it widens the range of operation for the bike vs a static setup.
One of my all time favourite bikes.. great on road and awesome on track
I know a lot of people griped about the last gen's looks (I love it) but this looks like a huge step backwards. My next bike will be an MT10, just one before 2022. I guess the upside is I'll save a ton because ill have to buy used, silver linings.
Planning on getting the SP currently riding R6 but I want a up right bike, the MT10 will be ideal plus the crossplane sound is awesome!
Did you ever get one? I’m planning on selling my r6 for a 10 as well.
Just found an all black one for $11,899 NEW! Going in tomorrow to work out details on sale. Can't wait!
got 2018year version, prev was mt-09. In love with mt-10 dream bike.
I've got a '14 FZ-09 with some power adders but I want an MT-10 so bad! Cruise control, comfort, power! What more do you want?
Upside of the MT10 SP is the steel braided brake lines, Ohlins auto adjustable suspension and a belly pan. On the downside it only comes in one color scheme.
I know I just picked up the 2023 MT 10 with the liquid gray, black and teal wheels. Probably the most popular color. I believe Yamaha calls it cyan storm. I was considering the SP model but I’m not a huge fan of the color. I really love the teal wheels on my MT 10
How do the brakes compare to your 701?
The 21 mt09 was a great beginner bike for me. I Will be adding a 23 MT10 beside it here soon.
I have an '18 MT-10. Decat with Moore Mafia ECU flash and its sublime the power and sound! Only downside is mine only has QS up not down. Amazing fun bike! Want a new SP tho lol!
I have a 2020 MT10 with Leo Vince decat, Factory muffler, and also flashed by MooreMafia!! Got that QS upgrade and it is instantaneous now! I don't mind not having auto blip because I enjoy downshifting myself and blipping that throttle to rev match....sounds amazing!
+1 on cruise control, Greg. 👍
if you keep the MT-10 under 7500 its a pussycat above the bike opens up I think its a good fun bike one thing I struggle with is the engine braking I dont know if the engine shuts off under decel or what Moore Mafia flash block off plates it runs and sounds very nice I also brought the forks up per Dave Moss still stable at speed tips in quicker now I have several bikes the MT-10 is my favorite
I got a tune they reduced the engine braking. It helped. They wanted to eliminate it. But I told them to leave some in. Now I wish I’d listened. It is 2 different bikes above and below 7500. You nailed it.
How do u compare this with the new s1000XR taking account mostly the sport riding and total fun and thrills that those bikes give and ofc taking account also the amount of money these machines have..thanks in advance
Such a great bike but I just can't get over that front. Hope the aftermarket comes up with SOMETHING. If you put an Akra on it you'll be rewarded with one of the best motorcycle sounds today.
I sat on one when o bought my 22 gsx. They feel amazing. Almost to it for a ride.
I have a 22 mt10 and have to say it is one of the most exciting bikes but also the most well rounded sport bikes I've ever owned . It constantly wants to give you more and has been such a reliable bike . Would def recommend.
My 2019 is pretty awesome
@@MotoJitsu they're all spectacular #cp4
the more I ride my bike, the more I like it
apparently better pads make a huge difference with the feel. steel braided lines may make a difference too
They DO have an all black version of the MT-10!
LOL grew an inch?? Previous reviews you say your're 5'9 and now you're 5'10
Very impressed
I started on a Hawk 250 then the Duke 390 now MT 07 and might get the Rebel 1100t as my 2nd for more comfort
Everyone hates the front, but I think it looks like a Transformer. Unusual, but I kinda like it.
You liked this a lot more than the GSXS you owned? The GSXS seems to hard to pass up @ given the price point
I've bought six bikes there... back when they were South Bay Motorsports. Ted and I went a long way back. I visited del Amo when they took over, and they seemed way to cold and corporate. Am I wrong?
I've been riding for 45 years, and over the last 5 years have had to make some serious changes. The first was I had to get rid of my ZX-14R, I hated to but it was just too hard on my neck and knees. It was OK though, because I still had my GoldWing to cruise around on, comfort with cruise (I call it ticket control) and a decent stereo. Unfortunately my knees and ankles finally said ENOUGH, time to get rid of the 850 pound beast. I was starting to get scared at stop lights about catching that much weight, I've abused my body a lot over my life. So, one of the toughest decisions I've made, last month I sold the Wing and got a 2023 MT-10. The seat could be a bit more comfortable, but the riding position is great and it handles like a bicycle compared to the Wing. I don't know that I'd spend the extra 2 or 3 thousand for the SP model, the standard MT is expensive enough. My short list was the Honda CB1000, the Kawasaki Z900R, and the MT-10. While I was making up my mind the Kawasaki sold, so that narrowed my decision down. I decided the electronics and cruise control on the MT-10 were worth the extra $$ over the Honda. The bike is a blast to ride, I never thought I could be comfortable on something as "small" as a 1000 but so far I love this bike. Oh, and mine is the solid black.
One other complaint is the rear view mirrors. I have very broad shoulders and I couldn't see anything behind me, but my view of the lanes next to me was fine. I went to a set of bar end mirrors and that made a huge difference. It's nice to see that the car coming up behind you isn't stopping, or the car behind you is a cop. This bike will get you in trouble quickly!!! The quick shifter is better than I could have imagined, and once the brakes bed in they are superb.
Gday John, sounds like uv had a reasonable run with bikes thru ur life.
Was it only the weight factor for selling the wing? How is the comfort and suspension on the mt10 compared to the wing? Njoy ur ride.
👍🍻
@@colinm1325 Obviously they're two totally different bikes. I'm enjoying the MT-10, it really handles, accelerates and brakes well. My only real issues are seat comfort and the rear view mirrors. The bar end mirrors make the bike look much better, and now I can actually see. Yes, the bike is a bit wider, but that's not an issue. The seat will have to take some time, it might get more comfortable as it breaks in and my butt may get used to it. If not I'll start looking at aftermarket seats. So far because of weather I've only got a couple of hundred miles on it. This is one of the smallest (wheelbase & weight) bikes I've ever owned, I've had at least 6 V-Max's, several Wings, a couple BMW K1600's, a Ducati Diavel, and a couple KZ1000's back in the day. I've ridden almost everything with 2 wheels. The MT-10 is a hoot. The cross plane crank does give it an interesting feel under about 3,000 RPM, almost like a twin. Then it spools up and revs like a maniac. At half the weight of the Wing it's like riding air. So far, with no adjustment to the suspension, it rides great. I may need to give it a hair more rear pre-load. as I'm not a little guy, but even out of the box it's been fine.
@@johnfriend862
Hey John, yeh, was just wondering if u can make a comfy ride as well as continuing to be a hoot to ride.
Haven't tried one yet as such, but had a short ride on an R1 which was very tasty👌 So the sit up posi with the power, as u say, must be a hoot.
U hav had a good mix over the years, u did like the VMax, old and new models? Hope u hav many gr8 rides ahead of you. Njoy.🍻
Make please the review for new Yamaha XSR900. It's really interesting what opinion will you make about it)
It has a speed limiter too. got mine last November in Tech black.
I get far more low back pain with a naked 🤷that up right position kills me, far more comfortable with more weight on my wrists.
There's something to nakeds that's always visceral. Wind blasts apart, naked always ups the ante..
Hello to everyone
Im planning to order one like this mt10 so im interested does someone have experience with a passenger, how is the comfort for both. I know that mt09 is terrible for that question.
Thanks a lot
Horsepower, torque, engine configuration, top speed, modularity, wind protection configurability, baggage configurability, aftermarket options, recommended modifications, price range?
How would you compare this MT-10 to the GSXS 1000 you used to own?
Damn Greg grew an inch overnight, yesterday he was 5'9". lol
I'm sorry but did you do a test ride from a dealer in CA? Unheard of here in LA county.
hi, just a real newbie here... so is it OK to shift up & down without the clutch ( see it around 4:20)???. DO I have to lower the throttle rpm??
Quick shifter and auto blipper obviates the need for using the clutch at speed. The more rpm the better they work. Once you have both, it's hard to go back to the old way.
I have had the squishy go away when you break in the pads in my Versys 650. Wonder if after time they would get better.
on the MT10, for me after the break-in period between 30 - 40 miles the squishy feeling went away or maybe I unconsciously got used to it.😁
What a beast...I love it. *Cries in broke boi*
I always advise anyone that truly is just starting out on motorcycle to get a very small dirt bike and learn to ride in the dirt even a 100cc single could be PERFECT. Everything your body learns on that little bike is directly applicable to larger heavier bikes the ,main thing is MUSCLE MEMORY where your BRAIN is unconsiously learning to reverse throttle twist and apply brakes to stop ....cause that HAS to become automatic and by all means take motorcycle courses! Of COURSE! But practicing with a small dirt bike can up ones confidence and ability expotentially faster than anything else I can think of! a little race track after you have built confidence can REALLY improve your raw riding ability fast also... something about trying to go faster is not only addictive fun but it really starts your brain learning the physics of it all.
I remember Kenny Roberts teaching yound racers (the cream of the crop winning young racers that is) on little 75cc dirt bikes... I think they were maybe XR75 or similar ...I mean think about that! He was able to reach them the tricks of the trade on such a diminutive bike because? Its all the same physics whether having huge horsepower at life ending speeds OR small horsepower at relatively very safe speeds. Because with a little bike you can experiment to learn what works and what does not ...things you should probably not want to try at crazy speeds or with ridiculously heavier and more powerful machines
enjoying the videos thanks you. If you run out of big bikes to ride maybe show us your take on the ninja 650. race bike look, naked bike comfort, and what i hear is perfect for the street not to much and not to little. Thanks to you I have became a rider with many tools (some i wish i never have to use) I use daily that make riding to much more enjoyable.
I was thinking about the ninja 650. Loved the looks and comfortable seating position. But it's just got no soul/character, if you know what I mean. Engine really needs an update. It sounds anaemic. This is just my opinion of course. I want my bike to sound great and be engaging. I felt none of that on a test ride. Shame.
@@amococ2487 i know exactly what i mean i want tp do work to my 650 but i think im better off getting a different bike.

I’d seriously have to get those rims painted
I am surprised you didnt audition the BMW S1000R. BMW S1000R and S1000RR both have cruise control.
Probably the only inline 4 bike I'd consider for street. But I wouldn't have one over my 22 Tuono V4 Factory.
@motojitsu how is the comfort on this bike compared to the Zx-14r? Everyone always talks about how “comfortable” the Zx-14 is, but is it comfortable for a sport bike, or just plain comfortable?
totally wondering this as well. i saw on a zx14 and loved it, they didnt have one of these, but, if it's as cool, i'm going to go looking
It depends on what you're used to and how tall you are. I'm 5' 6"! I find mine is like a comfy sports bike but I'd still like 20-30mm bar risers at some point. If you're over 6 foot then you might find yourself a bit scrunched up and feel it on longer rides but bar risers can work wonders on that too.
They're epic bikes in every way and can live with most in the twisties despite what you may have heard off people who don't know any better. Just get one, you'll never regret it 🥳

Did my safety class in that parking lot you rode to ha!
Could the reason the breaks feel soft be that they aren't bedded in yet?
Of course. I'm surprised that Greg does not know this^^
Today he grew an inch as well.
In some other reviews in his series, he explains (of I remember correctly) that bedding in may be an issue sometimes, but that some bikes do manage to come with good braking performance immediately and are therefore at least a bit better.

Is there plus and minus against the MT09? I am looking for an MT09 SP but should I be looking for a MT10?
I rode both, 9 is more fun bike to me. It's lighter, it turns easier (180 vs 190 rear tyre). The only thing I like more on 10 is the sound of the engine.
I replaced my 2021 MT09SP with the regular MT10 last week, I really loved the MT09SP I only replaced it because my mileage was increasing rapidly because my riding style has changed from commute to semi-touring, and even on Mode 1, I was demanding more power than the Bike can deliver. Currently, I am still trying to understand the MT10, all I can say is there is power everywhere, it feels slightly heavier but still flickable and it adds some noticeable extra inches in seat height. Also, your gas and insurance cost goes up. Finally, the bike pulls men, it really pulls, you really have to be conscious of your speed or else you will be getting speeding tickets constantly.
Great bike
