RT’s streamer luck in a nutshell:
-Catch god with a level 7 piplup
-Find fly, making travel much easier
-Accidently softlock the fourth gym so that he can’t use fly and loses the challenge

Did Pointcrow use fly a lot? That's how he wins if that's the case, which would be really unfair.
@@Jhay052347968 Yes. Fly is really important for the end of the race. Think about it this way; both players written down where the gym warps are, but RT has to also remember the walking path it takes to get there, including any softlocks and dead ends, while Pointcrow could literally just, fly to the warp he needed to go to. It definitely lost him the challenge.

@@snomandonly in a way with how you put it yes because entering the front door is how you get to a living room, not sure how you enter it again when youre already in there but i dont think going outside of a building is entering a door exactly

@@JosefTBB In the video yeah, but during the live stream it took a long while, on top of trying to figure out Maylene afterwards before accepting that it was glitched.

according to the timer in the bottom right, it took nearly exactly 1 hour to find gym 4, which makes up for over 1/4 of race

God I love this exchange.
If RT had fly, probably would've won as there would be no hoops that need to be jumped getting between towns, but it was a fun run to watch nonetheless, although maybe it would have still been close with a few minutes difference, who knows.
Yeah he had literally found all of the necessary warps to the gyms and elite four, not having fly ruined everything
He also wouldn't have wasted 30 minutes searching the bugged gym leader if he didn't need to do that either.

God and Shnuggles are the perfect duo no one asked for, but we all desperately needed
I think we should get a rematch only because RT had to handicap himself because we all know Crow couldn’t handle the awesome might of the Drift king
I concur. RT still made really good progress despite his handicap, and if it weren't for the fact the 4th gym was bugged I think he definitely would've won. He had everything there but that bug really screwed him over.
Jokes aside, the 4th gym bug screwed him over. There definitely should be a rematch.
Just watched Pointcrow's video as well, they agree to a rematch and Crow says that he doesn't consider it a real win because of the bugs RT faced c:
i watched this live and honestly if RT had been able to beat maylene and gotten fly he would have smoked pointcrow, because pointcrow had spent so long looking for cynthia while RT technically knew where everything was, except he spent 30+ min searching for maylene who would not appear anywhere and after that he wasn't able to fly around to get the rest of the warps

This is honestly an interesting insight into how Platinum works, that it actually does check for the right badge rather than overall progression. Kind of makes me want to see a game that puts at least some of the gyms in no particular order and makes all the HMs traversal abilities so the region gradually opens up in different ways depending on how you play.
Its not intresting since thats how it has always worked in every single Pokemon game. It literally states you need to have a particular badge to use that HM move.
Was there for the full stream - Pointcrow announcing his victory crushed my soul. Watching you go through all that bullshit, the fourth gym in an inconvenient location, getting locked out of Fly, yet about to pull a comeback... just to have it snatched away at the last possible moment.
Damn sequence break. GG Crow, I look forward to watching the rematch.

pointcrow does have a tendency to get bad luck in races where RNG is involved

That 3rd Gym and lack of Fly after finding EVERYTHING was genuinely crushing. RT was so robbed.
This is very much deserving of a rematch. RT would have had much much greater chances of winning if it hadn't been for the bug!
Is it even a bug? You can't be at two spots at the same time, which happened here but weirdly not when I played Platinum.
@@samsungtab3977 it is a bug, he talked to her at the other location to get her to go to the gym but it was only after he already went to the gym and ig because you normally cant walk in there yet or something it bugged and wouldnt ever spawn her in there even after he returned, whereas pointcrow was lucky enough to talk to her before he found the gym. or maybe theres different loadzones for a gym with her and without her and somehow he only found the without her one, but i kinda doubt that
this stream was pure pain. just pain. he couldnt figure out where a single gym was for nearly 2 hours.
I think that's typical for these location randomizers, judging by what happened in the other location randomizer duels.
The frustrating searching is on par with location randomisers but the bug made it worse
It's like what would happen if Dialga and Palkia literally said "fuck you we're done making time and space happen". Everything's out of order, nothing goes where or when it's supposed to, but all you know is you gotta beat Cynthia.

I was playing Platinum right before the remakes got leaked which was a confusing experience, going from older style game with more content to newer style game with less content, since the remakes didn’t have Platinum content.

You can tell RT and Crow are great friends from the fact that Crow knew to ask RT if he meant Bidoof or Arceus when he said "I just caught God."
It was so unfortunate that rts game was bugged :/ I‘m pretty sure he might have won that round. Nonetheless it was really entertaining watching the vod and I hope to maybe see a rematch or some more randomizers like this!

I think the Marlene glitch was caused by RT seeing her on the way to Snowpoint City, before fighting her at her gym.
So close, he was ahead for most of the objects until that point. And with fly not being available, it really slowed down the later stages of the game.
Omg, I saw PointCrow do this with SmallAnt in Hoenn, it's so cool to see him do it again with you and Sinnoh! This randomizer is so insane I'm so freaking excited for this!!! I love these races! /gen /pc

It's wild; RT is normally so non competitive, but my god he comes through when the heat is on.
Platinum was my first pokemon game and is still my favorite one and until now I didnt know you could catch so many legendries in this game.
