- I introduce my daughter to amazing sci fi classic The Matrix.
I remember watching this in the cinema when it first came out, knowing almost nothing about it... This blew me away when I first saw it... Will Maya enjoy it...will it go over her wee head, give this a watch to find out!
#moviereaction #movie #reaction #thematrix #25thanniversary - Zábava
She went outside growing up?
Good Girl!
After watching this I showed the movie to my daughter, we had a blast, I can't believe she had never seen it, or that I hadn't showed it to her. Really looking forward to watching along with you both
I second The Animatrix. Personally, I think it's by far the best sequel (and also prequel)!
The whistling nose thing got me, that and the monsters inc reference:) Love your dynamic, I would have loved to watch more movies with my dad. Having my first child soon can't wait to introduce them to all the amazing films and art out there
"What about sushi?" You know what...? You've actually changed my mind. That's a valid point.
Sushi is always worth the risk of an entire rebellion falling apart 😌- M
She is a uncover Zyfer😂🤣
'They fly now? They fly now.' There is only one movie in the world.
Also appropriate in Dune: Part 2
You two are fantastic. So glad to see Maya caught that all the guards and police defending the building where Morpheus is kept are just regular people. Most viewers don't catch that.
Some don't catch it... and some just don't want to think about it. 😁
It's true, but, as Morpheus mentioned, the only adult they've ever managed to successfully extract from the Matrix was Neo. All others were simply too inured. For a more-recent parallel, think "Game of Thrones" and how Ramsey Bolton created Reek as psychologically-maimed to the extent of actually being terrified of his own agency. A more realistic and somewhat milder version might be long-term prisoners who become "institutionalized", a matter explored in "The Shawshank Redemption".
The guards here may seem like people, and may even think they are, but, at an essential level, that's simply no longer true. They're as programmed as any Agent, if not moreso. Part of one of the philosophical levels on which this narrative operates.
Ah yes I love The Matrix…. If you watch more be sure to watch the Animatrix, it fills in a lot of the back story.
I will definitely be showing her that, I wish they had made more of those shorts
Its interesting to see your daughter take on this, i remember it blow my mind when i see this movie when it came out. Great reaction
Oh same here, I remember all the adverts being really cryptic, "noone can be told what The Matrix is. They have to see it for themselves"
@@mayaandgareth absolutely, then you see it and youre like: WTF this is awesome!
You can't stop at the first, truely. The first two are essencial.
We will definitely be doing the others :)
No, no. The first two will be fine.
@@blammular I also think Revolutions is the weakest. The problem is that Reloaded is half of a movie.
The Nokia fell down the skyscraper like the company after the iPhone
You're skipping a few generations of phone there bub. The Nokia phones were dominated by Blackberries, PalmOS phones, Motorolas, Windows CE phones, Symbians, and other smart phones long before the first iPhone ever hit the market. And iPhones never really dominated the market. It was Android OS that took off worldwide, gaining at one point up to 85% of the world market while Apple held about 10%. In 2013, Nokia sold their phone business to Microsoft who was still trying to market its own OS. The iPhone only ever enjoyed a strong, competitive presence in the United States. Even today, Android has about 71% of the world market share with iPhones in a very distant second place with about 27%.
@@Mr.Ekshin a joke is funnier if it is presented fast and short
Sometimes I think "The Matrix" succeeds so much as an action movie that people forget to look a little deeper (though credit to Maya for wanting to take some time to let it "sink in". There's a lot here, not all obvious). For instance, many would say that the Oracle tells Neo he isn't the One. But does she? If you listen close, you realize that she uses an old "cold reading" trick of getting the mark to answer their own question and then validating it as the reader's own "premonition". What does that mean, and what might it imply about Trinity's "true love's kiss"?
On a similar note, does the Oracle actually speak to Neo at all? Or is she talking to Thomas Anderson? Why might it matter? There are quite a few literal university courses structured around these questions.
Never noticed the nose whistle. Can't unhear it. #ThanksMaya
Maya: I would be worried if their would be dust in the water.
Gareth: I would be more worried about the drug i just took!
Lmao 🤣 🤣 🤣
Gareth: what are you doing?
Maya: Nothing!!! Wiping her mouth.
Im Dead! 😆🤣😂💀
Loved this outing with you. Would absolutely love to see ya do Speed next 😂
I think Speed would be fun, especially as she is already invested in 2 leads off screen chemistry....it's weird right..that she's watched lots of interviews of Keanu and Sandra on the press tour for the movie and yet not seen the movie haha
@@mayaandgareth They've already done two flicks together and both had a thing for the other without 'bothering' the other person about it, lol, so...
Maybe she should try their other flick, The Lake House, maybe on her own time if she wants more.
Umm, phrasing?
Yuen Wo-Ping did great choreography for this. He made a name for himself in classic Hong Kong action movies and was the one who gave Jackie Chan his first major hit with _Snake in the Eagle's Shadow_ (1978), which also just happened to be Yuen's directorial debut.
I don't think he did Matrix Resurrection...he was sorely missed from that film
That was nice 😁❤️i don't think i ever watched The Matrix with my daughter, but now I do😂👍i saw this film in 99 in the theater, and it absolutely blew my mind 😂i had never been to a movie before, when everyone was quiet and frozen in their seats, just trying to process all of that for about 5 minutes while the credits rolled🤯😂 great reaction 👍😁
I loved this in the cinema, I knew almost nothing about it before it came out. One of my favourite cinema experiences :)
"What after?" Isn't that always the question? And most people's answer will simply be: It will be better.
Everyone starts from scratch, don't give up, I hope that one day you will become a great CZcamsr.
Saludos desde la República Dominicana excelente vídeo 👏👍🇩🇴
You did good raising her.
Good dad
Maya's humor reminds me so much of Aaron and Jo. I thiquenk those are good questions to ask and will probably further invest someone in the sequels more than others.
Yeah, definitely need to check out the “Animatrix” before you watch matrix reloaded and matrix revolutions. 👌🏿
Speed is a great movie
you guys need to do bill and ted. yes, all 3.
Oh yes, I love those movies, I know Maya has never seen them, thanks for the recommendation!!!
Cool.
That kiss is not (just) the "prince who kisses the princess" (or the opposite as in this case), with the meaning we all know, it's something different, thinks on her name and what it means (this movie have multiple reading levels). 🍺
This film series is rife with biblical motifs, sadly though the most recent one lacks the deft touch and subtly found in the original and to a lesser extent the earlier sequels. The pew pew and kicking remain fun throughout :)
It's not that deep. He's dying but not really dead because the matrix isn't real and he's not really shot. She talks to him and kisses him which gives him a lifeline to come back (what with him being the one, and a man🙂).
@@blammular Again, this movie it has multiple readings, on different levels, it's a complex topic to deal, specially through some comments on CZcams (in my case, also in a language who is not mine). 🍺
Half of a reaction channel is the reaction, and the other half is having a watchable personality...
You have half a channel.
I seeee what you are saying, we gotta work on that reaction, thanks for the feedback :)
really nice reaction!
Not like the usual kiss-up
american reaction.
*subbed*
Great reaction!
She's quick! :)
In the fight scene between Morpheus and Neo, you mentioned Neo was cocky. I believe what he did was changing his technique to drunken fighting that he learned.
And in doing so I believe he may have displayed a whiff of cockiness ;)
Pre-watch comment: So happy to see you are watching this! Free your mind...
Post-watch comments: The Monsters, Inc. reference made me lose it. Well played. "They fly now!" My reaction was the same at the end the first time. "What about sushi?" crushed me. Like living in the Matrix is worth it because of the little luxuries of life... Thanks y'all and stay awesome.
A movie from 25 years ago, accurately predicted the present and even the future of the human world
“Do you know what that means? It’s Latin… it means know thyself.”
-Mother Matrix
Right. Check out the Animatrix for some perspective on both sides of the story. Gives a great insight on the different perspectives on the sentient beings and the human experience, plus it leads right into the Revolutions. Thanks for the reaction and the laughs. Keep on keeping on and Gritos from Tejas.
“… oh, sh*t.”
-Neo
“Yeeeeeeehhhhhhhs.”
-Morpheus
…and sub.
15:55 lol...every girl has the exact sane reaction to this scene lol .. love her lip rings ... I got just the stub ... guys can't get away with hoops ....only Chester from Linkin Park could pull it off ... RIP ... 😢
Looks awful, like a spider trying to crawl out of her mouth.
Check out Keanu in "Hardball"👍😉
Nice reaction as always ;)
Don't forget to watch "the animatrix" next, before matrix 2 reloaded :)
Gen z is so cringe. It's no wonder none of them have seen this movie, they literally do not have the capacity or attention span to appreciate it.
Oh totally...Gen Z? more like Gen Get Off Your Phone!!!! Who's with me??? 🤙
LMAO, this comment was amazing! @@mayaandgareth
Right, because when you were 20 years old, you totally knew every movie released prior to your birth, even though there are far fewer of those for you than there are for Gen Z.
If you're gonna be ageist, at least put some thought in.
But did you know who sang the song
Man, this movie is amazing
You two are fun. Subbed.
Hey thanks so much :)

the tragic irony of someone named "Maya" not recognizing the metaphor of the Matrix 😭
I don't think the metaphor of the film was lost on her...just that sadly she would prefer to live in a fake world where she can get sushi rather than live in a wasteland without it....is the fault of her bringing. Without question!
@@mayaandgareth well i cant fault anyone for wanting sushi. looking forward to the sequel vids!
I too vote for Sushi over freedom!!!
It's the only way forward 😌🙏 - M
It wasn’t “the kiss of life”… all that has too happen in the matrix for you too be alive is for your brain too think it is alive therefore you are alive…
Comment. 👍🏽
He doesn't play Nick Fury. Samuel L. Jackson does.
"But what about Sushi?" is the best reason to take the blue pill I have ever heard 😂😂😂
Red pill from dad.
They are a S.W.A.T. team.
Finally… an honest reaction on CZcams. I was beginning to think that everybody loved everything 😂
ANIMATRIX ANIMATRIX ANIMATRIX
Почему она смеется в некоторых сценах, в которых вообще не понятен этот смех?
Disgust at the metal in the body. #IronyRules
More like hypocrisy, but yeah.
22:36 ~ Charmed completely ruined this scene for me 😆
What's with the handles on the lip? Is that really a thing nowadays?
There is a world where she could be really hot. I can see it. Like that movie she's all that. But no instead she wants to look like a tackle box face. 🤢🤮
@@WheresWaldo05 Oh my god you mean to tell me I don't look....COOL??? 😭😭😭- M
@@mayaandgareth No it detracts from your insane natural beauty. Lots of "hot" girls take off makeup and look ugly. You are better than them. Make it more known! 🤤
Man the girl was so fun to watch react but I literally love this movie and she ruined it for me at the end of the movie
One of my favourite bands is Nickleback, trust me just ignore anything I say 😂 - M
Looks like your daughter thought The Matrix was a comedy
that's great :D
Ive got to the woman in the red dress scene, which is around 12:17 and between the pair of you you have said about 3 sentences and a few exclamations like eww
This is not a reaction video. This is watching someone watch an edited version.
Extremely poor.
Our reaction at that point was silent appreciation, we get more chatty after.
Thanks for the feedback though x
18:20 ....now I love her lol .... she gives good goose neck u can tell
Maya is not wrong, if it werent for the "hero trope" I guess, the dialogue amd character building, esp with regard to the relationship between Neo and Trinity is pretty bad… maybe "anemic" is a better way to describe it. But yeah, pretty tropey.
That said, I love this movie, andnthe rest, I think I need to watch them again. The "philosophy" in the rest is a bit unpolished, but is probably enough to get a discussion going! Great reaction you two. I love these multigenerational reactions!
Samuel l jackson and Lawrence fishburne looks nothing alike at all.
Knowing nothing really about the matrix I genuinely thought that Samuel L Jackson was the one that was cast as morphius so was laughing at the fact that it was someone entirely different when he turned around 😂😭
Exodus 13:12 That thou shalt set apart unto the Lord all that openeth THE MATRIX, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the Lord's.
Mixo
Keanu isn't a bad actor, it's that his range is extremely limited
I gotta say that the whole humans as batteries thing is nonsense, not just because using humans as batteries is going to take more energy to make it work than they are going to get out of it, but because that explanation is from the human perspective of why the machines did that to humanity. But they didn't do it for energy, that was just a side bonus, they did it for 2 things: 1, out of spite, to take revenge on humanity for using them for their needs all the time before it, and 2, to power the matrix, for what the matrix is built, plus so it is at least partially self-sustaining in energy. The whole point is the matrix itself, the machines have built it to get to the bottom of the human psyche. To see what makes us tick, why we exist, why they exist, etc. The animatrix explains that well. The matrix costs them energy to keep running but i think they have plenty of means to produce energy(like geo-thermal). The whole humans as batteries thing is never addressed again anyway.
We were discussing that afterwards, it's a fun concept but when you think about it, It falls apart pretty quickly
@@mayaandgareth From what I hear it also wasn't the first option that the Wachowskis had for what the humans should be. But the other option was too complicated, so the bigwigs made them just call them batteries.
@@lockekappa500 @lockekappa500 Originally they wanted to build a neural network out of all the human brains, so they would use them for computing power. Would fly way better today with all this AI stuff going on.
@@Hosenbisla Yup, definitely would have been fine nowadays.
they're supposed to be CPU's, not batteries. and no, the finite state machines were never able to construct a finite CPU with more power than the organic analog human brains.
Matrix 2 is decent, but don't bother with and more after that, they are terrible, ridiculous CGI, and oiss poor thrown together for quick box office! They are laughable! 😂
Avoid the other ones, they're terrible. Well, The Animatrix was good.
Thank you.
Personally, and I mean no offense to Mr. Reeves, I have never thought of him as a great actor, entertaining certainly, worth the price of the movies he appears in absolutely, even when he utterly fails at the accent he is attempting, but a great actor no. I suspect though - from everything said about him - he is a much better person than he is an actor, and that that would please him. On that note, please take a look at "Parenthood" (1989), where he is part of an ensemble cast.
Ironically enough his best role is in a video game, as Johnny Silverhand. He really gets to flex his acting chops even moreso than in other movies. It's the least Keanu Reeves role he's ever taken, and it's probably his best for that reason.
@@lockekappa500 I saw one quoted review that ranked him as one of the best three Hamlets the reviewer had seen onstage.
