    Just a little history from my time with a C3. It was used widely as a church organ so it's a little less bright. More mellow. I used a 145 Leslie when I had mine. The two pieces we able to fill large venue by itself. After you've played it for a while, you'll start to feel the organ talk to you through your fingers. I found it to make you play better. I hope you have fun with your C3. I know you'll love it the more you play!!
    Also if they didn't tell you, when you push down a key SLOWLY the draw bar tones come in one at a time. Just some little useless knowledge that you can put in the back of you head.

    • @julianreverse

    • @gregglynn3763
      @gregglynn3763 Před 2 měsíci +4

      @@julianreverse Yes they are, but through the years the C was more mellow that the B. Don't know how or why. The C that I had, and I don't know the year, was one of the mellow ones. I found a diagram in Keyboard magazine way back when that was supposed to bring in a little more of the brightness and it did. But through the years even the B had different sounds. Maybe it was because somebody modified the B or even the C. It's not a criticism of the Hammond B or C. It's just part of what we all love.

    • @ImnotgoingSideways
      @ImnotgoingSideways Před 2 měsíci +1

      From what I understand, it's either a Bench (B) or Console (C) with 3 effects (Vibrato, Chorus, Percussion). But, I can imagine with the design and age, every Hammond is going to have its own voice in one way or another. Same goes for the speaker box. I have a pair of Leslie 122 boxes and one definitely had a harder life than the other.
      Adding to the useless trivia: Hammond was a clock maker. The tonewheels can't be tuned and practically can't fall out of tune. The mechanism is driven by a synchronous motor which is tied to the electrical mains frequency. As long as the power grid is doing its job, the tonewheels will always be right.

    The church where I served many years ago first as an organist and then as a minister had a Hammond which my mom played for decades. During my years it was already broken and someone sold the Leslie. I had to content myself with a more classic, Italian organ, and synths/keys with Hammond emulations. I never could get the Hammond repaired, but those guts are so familiar to me, although I had no clue about much of that stuff. I had the joy of playing in some working Hammond later and can make some sound of them, but actually learning this technician explaining those parts was so precious, thank you so much. Please make more videos with deeper content on that B3, that is so rare nowadays with everybody concerned only with SEO. Thanks again.

    14:00 I, too, have a birth certificate that old. YES! This Hammond is as old as I am :) CONGRATULATIONS, it's beautiful! I never owned a tonewheel Hammond, but in the 1990s I had a kind of jazz rock Blues band (High Tension Generation) and we played old Graham Bond and Manfred Mann covers. Back then, I bought a Hammond X5 which was a transistor-based one from the 1970s. Even that thing was damn heavy, and I have a dodgy back to this day as a memento of touring Europe with it. I'll never forget going to see it before buying it. I pressed a single key and was in love with the sound. There's nothing quite like a Hammond, man - it's worth giving up the studio space, believe me. I'm so jealous!

The junkers are great to harvest parts (transformers, tubes, speakers, bumblebee caps, etc). The point of being known as the guy that will come and get it even if it is junk is that when the person you've helped gets rid of their heavy and huge organ they go back to church or wherever and spread the word. Despite numerous trips to the dump with stripped out Baldwin, Allen, etc, I have been able to cherry -pick some notables. Great video, love to watch you work. The Hammond was my dad's weapon of choice back in the 80s. Seeing and hearing it really reminded me of the times we would visit the organ shop where he taught people to play on a Saturday.

    Love the way he plays it like his other keyboards. You can tell this is his first time owning an organ. You can tell an organist immediately

    Fantastic, that`s the same Hammond from Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep).This is a monument of sound electronics. the tones are generated in the tone generator by acoustic short circuits. Unique!

    Congratulations on your new instrument! Such historical and musical contextual significance! While I personally love the sounds of the Rhodes more... the iconic Hammond sound is right up there for me in terms of loved sound!

    I learned more about Hammond organs in this video than I've ever known in my life! This was such a fun ride to see all the insides and how it works, including the Leslie speaker. This was so much fun!! Thanks for sharing with the world, Doctor Mix!

    Congrats Claudio!!
    Every time a new modern Keyboard or VSTi comes around and you get fooled into thinking, “ok they really got it now” and then you hear the real thing and realize it’s not close. Then if you get a chance to be in the room with a real Leslie and everything it really makes you realize what an amazing thing it is.
    One time I got to play with someone who brought his full Hammond rig to a gig. I also got to help unload and load it on to the stage. That was Herculean effort. The thing that most impressed me was how it cut through drums, multiple guitars and bass during a jam where the volume got a bit loud. You can feel it.

    If you talk about people who plays/played Hammond Organs. Don´t forget Jon Lord of Deep Purple. He was a great player.

    The most amazing musical instrument that will ever exist (Hammond B3/C3/A100 series) organs were made between 1955-1974.
    You're a lucky man to be able to share a part of your life with one of these rare beasts.
    I wish you much happiness 👍
