Wasps fan here. Sharks dominated Gloucester, tho I feel like they were just done after that season. A well earned champion’s cup spot for the sharks. Glad to see a South African team fight so hard and win one of these competitions. Good for the health of the sport.

I had my doubts about him. He has not played in a big game with presure on him. Boy did he shown that presure is no problem. I am now a fan. His composure, decision making, skill and goalkicking is jaw dropping when you consider this is his first season in a really big club. Since he replaced Bosch he has turned the Sharks into a winning team. I don't think the Sharks have lost a game when he was on the field. I will have no problem with him playing for the Springboks. There might be more presure but it is clear presure is not something that affects him. Libbok has a problem.

When they say 'europe' they mean the cup competitions between all the European teams, like this. Also, remember it's English commentators talking about the history of their teams being successful 'in europe' vs the UK leagues. And while this game was played in the UK it was a European game. A little confusing made worse by the fact that the UK doesnt' really consider itself part of Europe. Stormers won the URC league but no SA team has made a final or won a 'european' cup match before.
They said European Silverware - meaning this is the equivalent to winning the Europa Cup.

He was fantastic. His composure, decision making and skill is amazing. That crossfield kickpass was even better than the Manie kick against Scotland. Masuku got the ball going backwards, he had a player infront of him who blocked his view. He literally had a split second to look up spot Mpimpi and execute a perfect kick. This in a final white a team that has been shite this season. His goalkicking is just outstanding. Pollard, Masuku and Sacha are all deadly goalkickers and they have incredible skills. A year ago we where looking for a flyhalf and now we have four really good options.

I think that's kind of our problem tbh. Boks aren't hungry enough. Especially with a world cup hangover
Esterhuizen and Jenkins is going to make a massive difference. However I think the Sharks biggest problem is their backrow. Venter, Tshituka and Phepsi just doesn't work. Maybe the new Tshituka brother will do the trick but I doubt it. With the Sharks backline their lossies have to give them quick frontfoot ball. They just don't seem able to do that. They don't dominate tackles and they don't have a strong carrier that consistenly gets over the gainline.
Compare the URC stats with Roos. When it comes to:
Successful carries, Roos 2nd, Venter is 26th, Phepsi 50th, Tshituka don't even make the top 100.
Total carries: Roos 4th, Phepsi 46th, Venter 71st and Tshituka not in the top 100.
Clean breaks: Roos 47th, Phepsi 59th, Venter and Tshituka not in the top 100. Defenders beaten: Roos 6th, Phepsi 70th, Venter 85th and Tshituka not in the top 100.

great save by etzebeth but it probably would not have been a try as the player lost the ball........the beauty of downloading and watching on a computer allows you to go frame by frame it clearly shows that their was seperation from the Gloucester hand and ball but it probably would have been missed as it was extremely close to call

Calm down this is only the Challenge Cup. Congratulations to the Sharks for deservingly winning this year, however before you get roo excited this is the 2nd tier competition for those teams that didn't make the Champions Cup competition. Gloucester is ranked 9th from the 10 teams in the Premiership and lost yo Saints last week by 90 points . Sharks too have been as poor in the URC, so without diminishing thei Sharks achievement of winning this tournament it does demonstrate how poor quality this Cup is .
The Sharks real gain by winning is not the Cup but qualification to the champions Cup next year where they ca be properly be tested .
Clearly you haven't followed this tournament thus year
2 premiership teams made it to the semi final of the Champions Cup losing to the two finalists demonstrating a good representation for their league .
