Australia Pre Eddie (in chronological order) all away from home
Beat Scotland by 1 point, lose to France by 1 point, lose to Italy by 1 point, lose to Ireland by 3 points, beat Wales by 5 points
    Eddie Jones comes in
    - Lose to SA 43-12, lose to Argentina 34-31, Lose to NZ 38-7 , lose again to NZ 23-20, lose to France, 41-17 in that order before the RWC
    - Selects 1 debutant flyhalf in the entire rwc squad who was the flyhalf from a team that came 9th/12 in a pathetic super rugby competition
    - Leaves Quade Cooper, Foley, Pete Samu among others out after 3 years of building towards the rwc and they have to find out via the team announcement on social media
    - Spend months attacking Rugby League in the media to the point they RL starts discussing introducing Cap space exemptions for Union players to join League teams (sorry NZ)
    - Spends months telling everyone we're going to win the world cup, has his face plastered on all ads, bus stops, everywhere (no players were the ads it was just Eddie jones)
    - Takes a meeting with Japan 3 weeks before the RWC and then proceeds to lie about it for months
    - Comes out again repeating Australia will win the world cup and that he would hate to be the opposition
    - Has an media interview where proclaims he wont leave
    - Lose to Fiji and an average Wales team 40-6!!!
    - Don't make it out of an easy pool
    - Comes out that he did in fact meet with Japan and that he lied. Spend the next few weeks blaming everyone else
    - Leaves.

As a long time close watching WB fan I say Eddie's biggest error for RWC was the appalling squad he selected. There were 11 players in his squad who clearly did not deserve selection. These were Nonggorr, Fa’amausili, Uelese, Gleeson, T Hooper, Kemeny, Arnold, Leota, Fines-Leleiwasa, Petaia and Vunivalu. Eddie never spent enough time in 2023 looking hard at these duds. I'd been watching them for years. He then left home the real worthies like Lonergan, Ikitau, Lolesio, M Hooper, Toole, Brown and Neville. Eddie said he was selecting youth but that was wrong. Most of the players he left home were younger and better. Eddie then did not select a single Test standard goal kicker. Donaldson, Gordon and White were all 2nd string goal kickers for their provinces. Lonergan should have been selected for his goal kicking alone plus..... he was younger and much better than Fines-Leleiwasa anyway. Eddie's squad had NO logic to it. As soon as I saw his squad I knew WBs would not progress from their pool.

I understand the Aussies’ frustration with him, but it’s not fair or accurate to put all the blame on him for the current state of Union down there. However if a coach has much experience as he has, surely, surely he must have known that his world cup strategy was doomed. Eddie Jones is the most rugby of rugby men.
Love him, even though he looks like he can be a right c..t at times.
Is he waiting for a hip replacement or has he stubbed his toe?

Say what you want to say about Eddie Jones I respected him he was very successful and it's just a shame that he was remembered for his purple patch instead of the successes Australian rugby was in decline log before Eddie went back they're to coach there's just no other way to put it
