The police officers' tactical response to traffic stops is due to the number of drug traffickers in the U.S. who carry such large quantities of drugs, that they face major prison time if they're caught. Many of these drug traffickers would rather go out in a "blaze of glory" than serve 10+ years behind bars. The ones who already have felonies on their records stand to serve even longer sentences if they're arrested and prosecuted. Given the number of drugs coming into the U.S. with "Biden's open border provision", drug trafficking in the U.S. will get even worse.

This was so tragic & completely avoidable but that officer was obviously terrified beyond reason & he should not have been doing that job!
If you've been to a firearm training course, you know to think safety first at all times. The police never should have to wonder where your hands are. Safety first. Police are trained to think every situation is hostile first. They are trained to make it home. You can see videos of other officers who are more relaxed in approaching vehicles, and they never made it home. Even a child on video caught emerging from a vehicle with firearm in hand ready to blast AND DID. This is a tragedy, but once you inform the officer you posses deadly force capacity, then naturally tensions will rise. Put the officer at ease. Show him your hands BEFORE CONVEYING THAT INFO. Keep those hands in his plain view at all times. Dont move unless instructed to do so. And even then comply only if your hands remain in plain sight. Dont give them a reason to think otherwise.

This one still hurts. Its the worst killing even after all the new ones. I cried all last night i cant believe the officer told this man to get his id then shot him. He should of just said can you step out of the car like police usually do then none of this would of happened
Straight up murder. News flash: If somebody says they have a gun on them to a police officer, they don't plan on using it on you. 1) He informed the officer he had a gun. 2) He informed the officer he had a concealed carry license. This should immediately inform the officer that he has had a federal background check. 3) He was asked to get his license, after he had already handed the officer his insurance. 4) He was shot for reaching for his license. Murder.
ratbert90 I do not wish to start a large problem but what the officer did what what he believed he had to do watch a few videos of officers getting shot and how fast it happens
I agree. Being a police officer is a stressful job. However; in this instance it was unjustified. 1) He was antsy. 2) Philando had stated that he had a conceled carry permit. This should IMMEDIATLY tell the officer 2 very important things. 1) That he had no prior violent criminal convictions and 2) He had training to use the firearm in a responsible manner. 3) The officer asked if he could see his license. 4) The officer then immediatly shot Philando after Philando reached down to get his license.
ratbert90 you do have to take into account that he had been a suspect in an armed robbery case that this officer was a part of and that's why the officer pulled him over
Kane Knoles that is untrue. If you watch the entire video, the officer does not say or mention anything about suspected robbery. The pig's first mention is about a broken taillight. If he thought he was suspicious off top, he should have asked Philando to get out of the car and disarmed him if he needed. However, that's not what happened. Really, no sooner than the man announces his gun the cop becomes nervous. It is his nervousness that got Philando killed. You can clearly hear the man say "I'm not reaching for it". Now, for all we know he might have stopped reaching altogether, or he could have been getting his license out as he was instructed to do in the first place. What is crystal clear to me, is that people who decide the police are always justified in killing, will always find the smallest excuse with which to blame the victim for his own death. I just watched a video of a single police officer in an all out fist fight with a white guy, and never once did the officer even call for backup. Only after several minutes of fighting and wrestling did the cop shoot him, and it was not fatal at point blank range. He then allowed bystanders to medically assist the assailant until he did call for help. So can't nobody tell me this isn't racial. I hate these white supremacist talking points that come out when a black man is killed. He's automatically a thug, a low life, a gang banger. This man was carrying legally, which means he had a clean background check done. Why would he then go to the trouble of robbing someone with his family in the car? Also, you can save your response if you intend on explaining to me why this man should have been killed, and why it's really no big deal.
The officer was in fear for his life he didn't do it out of Malice he did it because he was scared you can it was murder but it was both of their faults
He should have asked him step out car put your hands behind your head retrieved the gun from him if he was scared. What's the point of gun laws if person who legaly carries informs someone they have gun. Also shooting into car like. That so reckless shooting car like that
The biggest mistake that Philando Castile made was "telling" the cop that he even had a gun. In Minnesota, conceal carry holders are NOT required to tell the police that they have a weapon on their person or in their vehicle until or unless the cop asks them. It's the same in Florida where I live. I do not have to tell a cop that I am carrying a firearm, unless they ask me. 14 months ago, the police stopped me while I was walking on the sidewalk because someone reported a "prowler" in my neighborhood. One of the 2 cops asked me if I had any weapons on me, and I said "No" which was true. I didn't "voluntarily" tell the cops anything that they didn't ask me.
Sounds like victim blaming. He was being an overachiever by telling the cop but that’s not a crime nor should it be a mistake to do what he felt was right by being honest. The truth don’t always set you free unfortunately.
He let the cop know about the gun so the cop wouldn't be scared just in case the cop saw the gun. But basically there was way more things that could of done other than homicide. So it's still the police forces fault.
hell no, I'm not reaching for my ID until I let the cop know what I'm doing. he sees through my rear windshield that I'm reaching for something, we already have a bad day. Don't listen to cowboy dude. Put your hands on the wheel or dash(if you're a passenger) then tell the officer exactly where your ID is and that you're going to reach for it.
frank ponds exactly hands on the wheel An let them control it step by step. Easiest thing to do. Smartest. I always keep my paper work An ID's out in the open a cup holder or whatever just to avoid this. I don't need to reach for anything on my person at all. It shouldn't have to be like that. But carried mine in the open like that before this even happened. The intelligent way

A grip a lot wider than a wallet? There are some large wallets out there. If you govern over a place, be sure to deal with these situations well. But don't let idiots hurt people innocent of such crimes nor unrightfully damage things just because of something that happened elsewhere.
One of the first things that police recruits are taught at the shooting range is "Know your target and what's behind it." In addition, most police use "jacketed hollow point bullets", that are designed to explode inside of a body, and not go "through it."
"Wider than a wallet" Is a gun handle not thinner than a wallet? The fuck? I know mine is thicker than a gun. Who even keeps a handgun in the same pocket you would keep a wallet? Nobody realizes that makes no sense?
Why did this cop not say right sir please put both arm's out you window has i am going to cuff you for both our safety , I just want to secure your firearm and then we can all relax and have you back on your way in no time....Job done...From that moment the cop would know if the fella had any worry has he would not comply with putting his hands out the window...This poor fella never saw it coming...Failed brake lights , pulled over and then death...Wow that is madness....
For those people who are saying he shouldn't have reach the pocket after acknowledging them he has a gun, remember police officer was the one who told to get licence and insurance .So if he did not acknowledge them that he has a gun, you would say he would be alive, no that nervous officer would still shoot him instant he saw the gun in the vehicle. What I implied was that the jury arrived at the wrong decision. I'm saying that the gentleman who was legally carrying a hand gun did nothing wrong yet the cop panicked for no good reason and fired his gun 7 seven times: that's an execution. My point was: Why would a man announce that he was carrying a pistol right before attempting to draw it and shoot an officer? It's absurd. If he wanted to kill the police officer, then he would not have reported to have a pistol. The cop needed to be convicted of all charges and be sentenced to the maximum time. The cop was wreckless, beyond wreckless. The "I feared for my life" defence needs to be applied against a standard: How would any well trained, reasonable officer have responded in the same scenario? Or better, how would a well trained, professional and highly esteemed (by the community) cop have responded? Get this: I checked out the statistics regarding cops killed feloniously (a small fraction of cops killed are justifiably killed in self-defence). In 2013, the murder rate of taxi drivers was 8 per 100 000 full time employed drivers, while the rate for cops was 3.5 per 100 000 full time employed members: taxi drivers are our heros, yet they kill an ever so tiny proportion of U.S. citizens.

Testimony of the use of force officer who testified: The state's use-of-force expert, Jeffrey Noble, said in his testimony that Yanez was not "objectively reasonable" in shooting Castile, and repeatedly mentioned that Yanez did not instruct him to put his hands on the wheel or dashboard of the car after disclosing that he had a gun. Noble also criticized Yanez for not telling other officers he had allegedly seen Castile's gun before shooting and called his claim that Castile matched the description of a recent robbery suspect--black with a wide-set nose--"bogus."
I mean it is understandable, there are bad guys out there with guns. The guy really should not have said he had a gun. Bad move in this incident. The cop should be fired. This should be a lesson to anyone out there especially in Minnesota.

The cops communication skills cost the mans life. if someone tells you they have a gun. you tell them to place their hands on the dash and keep them there. why he was asking for id from the passenger is beyond me since, he wasn't driving anyway and doesn't need to show identification unless he is being arrested for probable cause. The police officers' tactical response to traffic stops is due to the number of drug traffickers in the U.S. who carry such large quantities of drugs, that they face major prison time if they're caught. Many of these drug traffickers would rather go out in a "blaze of glory" than serve 10+ years behind bars.

You cut out a key event dumbass
Exactly keep ur mouth shut don't say anything unless they ask and even then I'd lie
Good question
In 2013, the murder rate of taxi drivers was 8 per 100 000 full time employed drivers, while the rate for cops was 3.5 per 100 000 full time employed members: taxi drivers are our heros, yet they kill an ever so tiny proportion of U.S. citizens.

What are you going to do? If there is no talking or going to court? I'm assuming you mean you are going to hurt the officer which in all honesty, would get you right where your son would be or.... The Penitentiary for oh ya know, life...
Prosecutors are full of it and need to do their jobs as well. This officer should be in jail.
Exactly 💯
A biracial country music singer..Well, that clears that up..Smh..White people still see him as a black man..That was so unnecessary to even say..
This poor man.. Had to deal with that idiot as a mother.. Followed by the other idiot (that offered him no comfort/kind words) as a girlfriend "fiance"x..followed by death by firing squad.
Wait why did they got pulled over ???
For a stupid rear light out... He lost his life over a fucking light & it could've been the little girls life too considering he didn't know how to handle himself... That poor baby will probably never forget this day... & I cried listening to her talk to her mom in the back of the cop car 😢😢😢
@@hollyhummel3086 not to mention the COP didn't know how to handle HIMself either. Philando probably was never educated on how to handle himself in a traffic stop. The officer has NO such excuse!
@@edwardmiessner6502 I couldn't agree with you more!! That was no cop, that was a little boy playing dress up! He never should've even gotten a badge!!!
the city didnt kill her son the cop that shot him did
Go and research who public officials represent you idiot.
I Almost Had A Damn Stroke Reading This .
The problem in the US is that a lot of people are allowed to carry guns legally with a background check by a FFL holder but when the new gun owner sells his gun in private no background check is needed according to the Brady act. Besides this a lot of guns got stolen too and so a lot of looneys now have guns which causes the police to be on edge and have one hand on their service weapon at all times.
Lmao stfu victim blaming that cop is a pig
Dude you need to go to jail because they going come after you he had a permit for gun if he wanted to shoot you he would not have told you he had gun
cops don't like it but this is why I get my paper work out before that pig gets to my door. no need to reach
With the citizens start handling it like citizens and not subjects don't be surprised.
They could of at least got the kid out of the backseat
Not only that, but they handcuffed the lil girls mom & put her & the lil girl in the back of the cop car and the mom couldn't even comfort her daughter... & to top it off the mom was cussing and screaming and the little girl begged her mom to stop before they shoot her too... Poor lil baby
he had the excuse to murder him!
tron punk wtf?
The amount of fires shot was just inhumane, 7 rounds? Point blank? Its clearly that the officer was scared or nervous smh
What's needed is a policy that requires the driver to exit n stand to the rear of his vehicle with the required docs.
No, what SHOULD be done is WHEN there's situations like this of preventable murder by police, there's either a mandatory 25 years to life sentence or death sentence depending on the circumstances of evidence. The reason WHY they feel as tho they can do whatever they want is because the justice system supports them. It's a brotherhood sort of speak. Until there's real consequences for the action, they'll keep killing
@@shaunphillips3236 that’s not how the justice system works…. For anyone..
@@Czarwinters3313 that's the premise of what they tell us that the justice system is from it's foundation to the highest offices. That is their ideology but they don't live up to their own words. They're hypocrites just like the entire political & justice system
Training won’t help. Hold them accountable for there actions
Even if he was reaching for a gun why would you open fire with kids in the car, back away and reassess the situation, are cops even trained or do they get their badge from a box of cereal?!?!
if he was reaching for a firearm, it is protocol to neutralize the threat, by firing as many rounds as necessary. in my opinion, both parties are in the wrong here. the officer was obviously scared and uncalm, and the victim reached for ID literally right after he said he had a gun, and the officer told him not to reach for it.
We need to see the trail transcript
Those trainings teach cops that every citizen is a threat. The more training we fund, the more they will act as an occupying force.
Murdered " can you stand for that in America". Always ends up dead blackman for nothing. Cop should be in Jail.
This broke me.
The city killed our son. what are you doing about? March, protest? Where that has led you. It's time to change tactic. We can expect diffrent results by doing the same thing over and over. It is time to not asking anymore it os time to take as they are taking.
