    Love the boss harmonist pedal . I have 2 on my board .a swiss army blade of effects in that unit .I wish boss would make a bigger programmable version of this pedal with changeable multi settings at your feet .

      Definitely, something like a PS-500 or PS-200 with at least more footswitches and Midi.

      i remember trying both ways
      but could not make sound truly like HD yet Digital sounding if you know what i mean
      just loved when the original sound is louder than the Harmonist effect
      is hard to describe how i prefer this tones
      but i sure i prob never did used correctly
      sigh..

    do you know if they recorded with harmonizer pedals, or if it was simply two guitars in harmony?

    • @DIYguitarGuy
      @DIYguitarGuy  Před 10 měsíci +6

      James Hetfield double tracked all of his guitar parts, mostly even more than twice, so he probably did the same with harmonizing parts. And I don't think they had decent pitch shifters back then.

    Can I use this pedal to just generate a simple fifth up so if I play only one string, for example an open E, it’ll sound like playing an E5?

    • @DIYguitarGuy
      @DIYguitarGuy  Před 2 měsíci

      You can, but if you only want to use it for that effect, try the T-Rex Quint: it does that but better/faster and also has an octave down and up. So you can play regular 5 chords and really thick ones.

    I'm really interested in a pitch shifter pedal, Does that pedal can have the dry sound muted to listen the retuned channel only?

    • @DIYguitarGuy
      @DIYguitarGuy  Před rokem +1

      Yes, it has a balance knob that you can set to 100% wet, so that's the effect sound only. When you use both outputs, A has the dry sound and B has the effect.

    Nice pedal but i am missing some depth in the tone

    Do I put this pedal before or after my overdrive pedals ?

    • @DIYguitarGuy
      @DIYguitarGuy  Před 11 měsíci +1

      After. Complex harmonies sound better this way. Simple ones (fourths, fifths, octaves) can sound OK pre gain.

      @DIYguitarGuy  Před rokem +1

      I made a video about that a while back: czcams.com/video/XsyTuAlNbSw/video.html Too bad you need 2 pitch shifters for that, the PS-6 doesn't do the harmonic minor scale.

  • @godzilla964
    @godzilla964 Před rokem

    The Harmonist is best for diatonic scales, while pedals like the EHX Pitchfork and the Digitech Whammy are good for nondiatonic scales.

    • @DIYguitarGuy
      @DIYguitarGuy  Před rokem

      Yeah those other two are great for fixed intervals, while the PS-6 varies between things like the minor and major 3rds to fit inside the chosen scale, which is always diatonic, in Harmony mode. One thing the PS-6 really lacks is chromatic intervals in Pitch Shifter mode.

    I'm not a fan of this pedal, you can hear the delay between your dry signal and the harmonies.

    • @DIYguitarGuy
      @DIYguitarGuy  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hi Jason, with pitch shifters there's always a delay because the audio has to be processed. Some pedals like the Whammy also delay the dry signal to match up with the latency. That being said, the PS6 has very little latency in Harmony mode but it's quite noticeable in Pitch Shifter mode.
