6:02 in a manner of speaking. Inferno is a last resort of the Sword itself. When Nightmare is gone and there’s no one it can consider a suitable wielder, Soul Edge the sword will essentially draw on the past knowledge of those who have used it in battle and manifest a physical form to fight.

Talim is one of my favourite game characters, specifically because she's a pre-colonisation Filipina. All her kick attacks have "sipa" in the name, which translates to "kick", attacks with her bladed tonfa has "hiwa" which means "cut", and finally, her fighting style, while not completely the same, takes cues from eskrima, the Filipino martial art.

  • @elvinmacospag6989

Soulcalibur's known for it's gameplay, customisation, and guest characters.
SCII had Heihachi (PS), Spawn (Xbox), and Link (GameCube) as guests, depending on the platform. The 2013 re-release made Spawn and Heihachi available for everyone.
SCIII didn't have guests but introduced Create-A-Soul, which would be a franchise staple from then on.
SCIV had 3 Star Wars characters as guests: Starkiller, Yoda, and FRIGGIN' VADER HIMSELF.
SC Legends had Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia.
    SC: Broken Destiny had Kratos.
    SCV had Ezio Auditore.
SCVI has Geralt of Rivia, 2B, and Haohmaru, who is arguably the blueprint for the "wandering ronin" archetype in video games.
As for the "stripper" Ivy, her outfit is like that because she debuted in Soulcalibur (the SECOND game in the franchise) so tech was kinda limited. They got her whipsword to work, but her outfit had to be as limited as possible due to hardware limitations. Hence, uh, that ensemble.

So to explain what happened to Kilik when Siegfried grabbed Soul Edge it released a powerful wave of darkness called the Evil Seed. This caused alot of people to become consumed with an intense bloodlust and made people go into violent murderous rampages. Only those with powerful wills, mystic arts granting them protection or with items to protect the soul from corruption were unaffected. Kilik however was consumed by this, and he went on a rampage till Xiang Lin gave him the belt you see on his body which is a mirror that protects the soul and drains evil energies. However she went on a rampage and he was forced to kill her. But whenever he does Soul Charge reverts back to the evil form but with limited control on his actions. It's why he says, "It shouldn't be like this Xiang Lin." because he remembers that he killed her. Now in the story he is able to conquer his darkness and not give in total bloodlust anymore.

The last 3 were guest characters, Geralt from The Witcher, 2B from Nier Automatica, and Haomaru from the Samurai Shodown series. Haomaru has been around since LONG before the Soul Calibur series so considering SNK has been pretty crossover happy lately it made perfect sense to have Haomaru in the most well known weapons based fighting game outside of Samurai Shodown. Samurai Shodown was one of the classic SNK games I played back in the day, so seeing him there made me happy. Soul Calibur's got a bit of a rep for guest characters since in Soul Calibur 2 there was a console exclusive character for each home console, PS2 got Heihachi from Tekken, Xbox got Spawn, and Gamecube got Link from legend of Zelda. Later Soul Calibur 4 would have Yoda and Vader be console exclusive for awhile for the Xbox (Yoda) and PS3 (Vader) both would eventually be DLC for the other console so you could have all 3 Star Wars characters in the same game on one console, the 3rd character being The Apprentice from the Force Unleashed games. Soul Caliber 5 would have Ezio from Assassin's Creed playable and then you could create and use Devil Jin via Character Creation.

So the thing with Amy is that she has a mechanic called Rose Perception. Certain attack strings that she has will make her throw either a red or white rose at her opponent. Landing these rose attacks will increase its respective color's pereception. Landing 4 of either color will max out that particular perception which will cause some of Amy's moves to become augmented. Amy has access to multiple criticals that also benefit from white and red rose perception individually as well as together (purple) when you have both maxed out.

I love Soul Calibur, but sadly i played only older games in series via emulators, cause my PC is not good enough for latest one. I played Soul Calibur 2 and Soul Calibur Broken Destiny and i had a tons of fun. Created many custom characters from different games, even from Mortal Kombat, which you can see on my channel if few videos. So yeah, Soul Calibur is fun game. Hard but fun.

I'll be your lore guide to a degree for this. As you've just seen this is Soul Calibur 6 (SC6), the sixth installment in the SC series. The game franchise goes back to the PS1 as Soul Blade in the U.S. but as Soul Edge in Japan. The original cast was Mitsurugi, Hwang, Seong Mi-na, Sophitia, Taki, Rock, Voldo, Seigfried, Li Long, and Cervantes. It wasn't until SB/SE got rebranded as SC that Kilik, Maxi, Xianghua, Astaroth, Ivy, Nightmare, Edge Master, Lizardman, and Yoshimitsu were introduced. There was one other and that was Arthur who was basically a Mitsurugi clone found in the Korean version, few arcade versions and world releases of SC1. SC2 would be the debut of Talim, Yunseong, and Raphael. It would also be the debut of the series staple of guest characters; across the platforms at the time, the games would have console specific guest characters. Link from Legend Of Zelda on the Gamecube, Heihachi Mishima from Tekken on the PS2, and Spawn from the comic book series on the original XBOX. SC3 is where Zasalamel, Setsuka, and Tira debuted along with character creation which sparked the "create-a-soul" feature that has been present ever since. SC4 had the debut of Hilde (Hildegard) and Algol; but was mainly a promotion for Star Wars Force Unleashed as the game featured Star Killer, Darth Vader, and Yoda. SC5 was perhaps the worst game of the bunch in terms of story mode, and was an attempt at a new generation with Patroklos and Pyrrha, Xiba, Natsu, Leixia, Viola, and Z.W.E.I. Of course I'd be remiss if I forgot to mention Lizardman being renamed to Aeon who had dual axes. And here we are with SC6, the new characters in this reboot being Groh and Azwel; the story mode with your created character revolving around them with Azwel being the big bad, that story mode is called Libra Of Soul. Your actions have some consequences as you have a scale that determines if your soul is more towards Soul Edge, the evil blade, or Soul Calibur, the good blade, the ending determines based on which part of the scale you're on. But back to characters, SC6 has three guest characters, those being Geralt from The Witcher, 2B from Nier Automata, and Haohmaru from SNK's Samurai Shodown. On a side note, video games universes are merging, it wasn't too long ago you looked over Guilty Gear Strive, Baiken herself is DLC in Samurai Shodown (2019). Full circle, all roads are leading to Rome. Even back in SC3 in the character creator, Kos-Mos' outfit from Xenosaga Episode 1 was present, but I'm forgetting one guest character from SC5, and that is Ezio Auditore Da Firenze from Assassins Creed, and you guys did check on the AC trailers right? Yeap, good ol Ezio was in SC5 as a guest character, complete with a Soul Caliburized version of his theme. And if you two want to play SC seriously, you'll have to like a character less for appearance and more for being on par with their command inputs to execute their moves properly, some characters are beginner friendly with easy inputs, others require memorizing and muscle memory to play as them properly, and oh god the temporary stances into one-two inputs and to effectively combo them together. Yeah, bring some ice, your fingers are gonna get a work out on your analog stick, directional pad, buttons, you name it...don't worry it won't hurt your hand like Devil May Cry will. I'll tell ya more only if ya want me to.

With these fighting games our mains are usually whoever we can align with play style wise. Kung Lao was not Bethany’a favorite nor was the Flash but they both ended up being her mains because of playing 🙂

    • @Otaku387
      @Otaku387 Před 2 lety

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Well SC6 is different from most fighting games because SC has an eight way run mechanic built in which allows side steps and diagonal movements; plus attacks have height detection for high, mid, and lows, you can normally block high and mid, but low requires you to crouch. Then there's lethal hits on counter which can do armor breaks. Every character is unique. You have rush down fighters, power fighters, grapplers, in fighters, out fighters, and zoners, so the weapon isn't just associated with style and inputs, but also attack reach and length, it can get technical but not Tekken technical. For example Setsuka is a speedy rush down character who's attacks manipulate stun states and capitalize on enemies by out pacing them and attacking while they're down, her parasol also allows her to Mary Poppins with a temporary hover stance which can make her oppressive and unpredictable. Then you have Seigfried and Nightmare who are canonically one in the same but their styles differ. Seigfried's strength is in his reach, heavy damage potential, and step stances, Seigfried has four stances to shift between fluidly for setups and counters. But Nightmare has a temporary forward step stance and two standing stances, Nightmare is just sheer unga-bunga....but Astaroth is a grappler who is the epitome of "NO! BIGGER UNGA BUNGA! TRY TO TECH MY GRAB!". Personally I'm a Mitsurugi style main and he's the only character who has an auto counter to projectile attacks, in truth Mitsurugi is the fairest style in the entire game, if you lose to a Mitsu then you just suck, most characters have gimmicks but Mitsu's only gimmick is shura state, it isn't like Seigfried at low health or Nightmare's "get off me" explosion...which Mitsu in sheath stance can counter as a projectile proct. But yeah, Bethany said Cassandra was like Sophitia, yes she is because in game they're sisters, Cassandra is basically a more aggressive Sophitia. But of course there's Ivy and Cervantes and they're daughter and father. Cervantes is basically the M. Bison of SC and Ivy is a zoner because her sword is also a whip....and she has painful command grabs. Talim and Taki are high mobility and combo oriented characters...Voldo is just pure "what the fuckery" and can hit like a truck if given the chance, just pure skidaddle skidoodle. Haohmaru is like a mix of Mitsurugi and Seigfried with the "oh nice health lead you have, shame if I B+K you on a counter hit for MAXIMUM DAMAGE." No amount of flex tape will repair your dignity when you get big chonked into a k.o. from it. 2B is just combo madness....she is the only character who can launch an ultimate while in mid air and air combo, it should be illegal but here we are. Groh, Mr. Double Saber himself, his slogan is "spin to win." followed by "super sonic speed" when in soul charge....like Haohmaru, "nice health lead you have, shame I'm about to shift into maximum overdrive...and I installed the turbo this time." Raphael and Amy are adoptive father and adopted daughter, both are fencers with flare and rush down but Amy is just the meme of "you better stop". You saw the screen split for her ultimate, its because she has roses that she throws, its like Johnny from Guilty Gear hitting you with coins, but roses, if she hits you with red roses, her ultimate shows red roses, if she hits you with more white roses, the rose graphic is white, but if both rose counters are maxed the graphic shows purple roses and boosts the damage of her ultimate's final attack. Kilik is like a pendulum as his temp stances require half quarter circle inputs without button presses, and Seong Mi-na is basically Kilik but better and has a soul charge that doesn't drain health....yeah Kilik's soul charged state drains his health over time rapidly instead of burning his soul meter, so he can just spam break attacks all day...Mi-na is the safer alternative. Xianghua might look cute but is secretly a monster and her rush downs will just fuck your feelings with no condom on...just like Setsuka...but in Chinese flavor...consider the panda poked. Hilde is a mix of an in and out fighter with her spear and short sword combo...and her free unblockable....which can be spammed. Yoshimitsu is in the same camp as Voldo with a mix of Mitsurugi and a kick so powerful it can field goal your lower jaw to Amsterdam...just like Sophitia's kick...but Sophitia's kicks can do that to both your jaw structure and ankles. Oh boy this post is long.

Yes, the best fighting game franchise!!! This one was a nice return to form after 5 was a bit of a letdown. My personal favorite is 4, but the fact that Yoda is one of the cameo characters might have something to do with that!😁
The games are basically historical fantasy set in the late 16th/early 17th centuries.
Some background about some of the characters and their connections:
Cervantes (undead pirate) and Ivy(stripper you guys said, though dominatrix would be far more accurate 😁) are father and daughter, with no love between them, if memory serves.
Sophitia and Cassandra (sword and shield ladies) are sisters, with Sophitia being the elder. They're Greek, and both super fun to play as with quick, bouncy, bashy styles.
Recognizing Taki (ninja lady) as one of the best makes me happy!🤗
Siegfried is Nightmare's original human self given new life, or something (been a while since I actually played any of these)
Yoshimitsu(played baseball with a soul) is most likely an ancestor of the same named character from Tekken.
Raphael(fencer guy) is always one of my mains, I like his fighting style a lot, even if his story is a little dark and creepy. Amy is his ward or something, but the circumstances are complicated and there's perhaps some questionable intent on Raphael's part. It's weird. Do like playing as Amy as well, her style is similar to his.
Voldo is everybody's favorite bondage demon!!!😄
2B is a guest character from Nier: Automata, which is an example of a sequel being way better than the original, Nier. She's an android from a post apocalyptic Earth.
    Cheers!

Actually Bethany is 100% wrong. The "stripper" is... Setsuka, the one she assumed had everything together. Setsuka is a Consort, and to put it lightly, her life is a trainwreck of concurrent tragedies. The one Bethany thought was stripper is Ivy, and not only is she second wisest character in Soul Calibur behind Zasalamel, she's an alchemist, a botanist and an engineer. As for the outfit, she knows what *she* likes, and she's not really worried about what anyone else likes. She's also the daughter of the undead pirate, Cervantes; so modesty really does not run in her family.
Cassandra and Sophitia are sisters, and both are acolytes of Hephaestus the god of the smith, which is why they have similar weapons.
This Yoshimitsu is the same Yoshimitsu from Tekken.

I think all I need to start every day now is Ken to just look into my eyes and say "Heeeeey, you! :D" lololol
I've put it off a while, but I may need to finally pick up Soul Calibur 6. I know there's a metric ton of DLC now too, so breaking into it with everything ain't gonna be cheap...but man, the previous games were SO fun. I don't usually go for the super bright colors flashy moves type fighter games, but Soul Calibur has always hit a little different for me and I'm not sure why. And getting to play as my boy Geralt sounds pretty dope too, so maybe I should stop stalling lol.
Couple quick notes related to the characters you guys mentioned :D :
1 - There ARE two different sword/buckler characters, Sophitia and Cassandra. They may look kinda the same because they're sisters, with Cassandra being the younger one. Sophitia (the elder) has always been one of my favorites in the series, I dig their whole Greek thing they have going on and Sophitia has always been a bouncy badass with a lot of really fast flurry attacks and a lot of good low/high mixups. I kinda miss her lol...and it's definitely been too long since I've seen her signature "weaponized face-sitting attack" lololol. Some of the stuff these characters do, while never explicit...can border more on the "M" rating than "T" lol.
2 - Like Ivy, the "stripper" character you were talking about lol. She's less stripper, more "Dommy Mommy" lol. She's like in her 50's and still built like THAT, with a very clearly defined dominatrix theme lol. A lot of her voice line callouts use words like "suffer!" and "discpline!" and "squirm!" lolol. Her and Voldo (the creepy mask-wearing weirdo with the fist weapons who likes to spin around and crab-walk) make a good pair, they're both around the same age and have the same fetish gear thing going on lol.
3 - I think I've always kind of slept on Setsuka a bit. Her "sword hidden in the handle of her parasol" thing is a pretty cool idea and blends really well with her really distinguishing vibe of "graceful, reserved beauty that can shift into absolute savagery at the drop of a pin". She's honestly an absolute badass, and manages to pull off the series' pretty standard "everyone is sexy as heck" theme while still being classy and elegant.
Another thing I've always really enjoyed about Soul Calibur games (at least the few most recent ones, from about SC3 on) is the extensive character customization. In the past you've been able to make custom outfits for main characters, or make an entirely new personal character from scratch using a bunch of armor/outfit pieces and the basic weapon/moveset template from one of the story characters. All the customization options are usually separated out into DLC packs that will nickel and dime you into poverty, but it's still pretty cool and I've seen a LOT of really awesome custom characters designed to look like other famous pop culture fighters. A lot of room to get really creative, and one of the big reasons I've always loved the series. :D

I forget if 5 had a guest character. I have 5 but really didn't vibe. And as you know, only had 6 for a night 😂 Kratos is also in one of them somewhere.
Sophitia is guest character in Warriors Orochi 3 which the Warriors games are my favorite franchise of all time. I wouldn't say they're top tier games, but I love em. When you can end a five minute battle with over 1000 kills and people constantly telling you how awesome you are is something I enjoy immensely.
Ivy who always has that dominatrx look is considered the hardest character to play in the franchise. So I remember hearing this so I just googled to make sure I was right and all I get are clear "nice guy" written articles, but I heard that each game they made her breast bigger until 3 or 4 and that's when they were like... alright that's enough. But now I can't find that so maybe I just made it up. Also from the quick Google I did I just found out that the developers themselves released a chart of all the women's breast sizes. Ivy is the tallest women at 5'10, and has the largest breast at E-G cup. I don't know why they put 2 letters, maybe one EU and other US or maybe cause they're just guessing with no band size. But let's just go by letter here for a moment. She is 9 inches taller than me and 6 cup sizes smaller. Let me tell you there's a whole section on the wiki for her alone causing controversy of unrealistic body images and showing to much skin. Fuck them I'm a gnome with titties, and buying clothes that fit is hard. I stand behind Ivy... even though she hates her dad, which relatable, and I main Cervantes... which is her dad.
Maxi is also top tier for me. He's a button smash character 😂

What's the difference between an umbrella and a parasol?

Parasol is for shade and umbrellas are for rain generally. All parasols are umbrellas but not all umbrellas are parasols 🙂

Fun Fact: Tekken and Soul Calibur takes place in the same universe, though hundreds of centuries apart. In their creation, Tekken is based on MMA which the moves were choreographed into the games, whereas Soul Cal was more weapons based which before the characters were made the weapons came first.
