- Genya is the kind of character I grew to love more and more during my time reading Kimetsu no Yaiba, he reminds me a lot of Okuyasu from Part 4 actually and when you discover he's just been playing the tough guy a lot of his character clicks. Hopefully this video helps you appreciate him just that little bit more.

As a manga reader, I didn’t realize that Genya actually became a demon when he ate Kokushibo’s blade. I just thought that Genya dissolved when he died because he had ingested too much demon at that point, and had taken too much damage anyway.

As a middle child i was able to see myself in both roles and man i cried for 30 minutes
he was the only character i actually felt something for when they "died"
Honestly, it's true that the manga feels super rushed, specially by the end. However, I feel like the author did a completely outstanding job in making it still amazing even when it went by super fast. Every character had time to shine. Every character had memorable, emotional and badass moments. Yeah, I wish I lived in a world where the mangaka had the chance to tell the story she wanted to tell, but even when she didn't, Kimetsu is still one of the most amazing shonen mangas ever imo.

It's important to have at least 2 out of 3 traits, as having all three is extremely rare:
Be FAST
Be GOOD
Be NICE
Service jobs, products, team exercises, really interesting stuff it applies to.
If you're fast, you make yourself more convenient to others for access. If you're super good at what you do, you're chosen over others for your quality of work. If you're nice, you're more likely to attract more people. Doing all 3 simultaneously is taxing and encourages burnout faster, though it may not be impossible for some.
I just think it's cool that the concept encourages people to work with what assets are available to them instead of trying to fit into a perfect mold of what they're expected to be. You can be successful in life and your endeavors without sacrificing the core of who you are.

I love how genya became a much better and nicer character than when we first see him
Everything that happened after the time skip (the one where the pillars trained the characters, not the ending) the story went full throttle into the final fight which was amazing and I liked that like 90% of the characters died, but I feel like that wasn't supposed to happen until another 2 years if it wasn't for the author's family emergency that she had to end the series quickly.

@@iliketosaytruecomments3326 like I said, family emergency so she had to end the series soon because she didn't live with them, so had to leave the studio and go to her parents. Under different circumstances, the series would still be continuing but it's too late now, she decided to start a new manga series about space and robots. Obviously it'll fail but she doesn't want to make money from Kimetsu no Yaiba anymore I guess 😭
Genya is one of the underrated character I have begin to like as I begin to read the manga.
Even though he not a traditional Demon slayer like others, He is a one of a kind person that helped the main Group defeat some of the most dangerous Upper moons in the series.

Genya is my favorite boy, I cannot wait until he appears in the anime but knowing the fandom terrifies me TT
Not only that, compared to the main character everything about him makes sense (other than somehow now being able to use breathing techniques and somehow eating a demon makes him a temporary demon or smth), his backstory may have been the usual tragic backstory, but it properly effects him later on, his attitude makes sense (tryna imitate his brother) even though he might be violent towards others it kinda makes sense, his goal is clear, and he is flawed.
Compared to Tanjiro who is almost perfect to perfect, who for some reason can still sympathize for demons who have killed people in front of him and have harmed him and his sister, who wants to turn his sister to human which makes sense, but at the same time let’s her hide away rather than checking in on her every once in awhile to make sure she is okay.
In the end Genya should have been the protagonist, and I wished he had more screen time, or atleast lasted to the final battle.
In fact he and Tanjiro are the same when it comes to powers, Tanjiro has this ancient breathing technique that separates him from others, and Genya has an ability that can prove useful compared to using breaths at some points, and can overpower the demon if he is able to devour more of it, even an upperank, hence separating him from others
So why is Tanjiro perceived strong while Genya is perceived to be more weak and isn’t given the chance to do so, in his fights against an upperank demon? I know the author wanted to kill him off for Sanemi to break down, but they should have explored his power more, in fact have it used in the final battle and be close to Muzans strength, THEN have him die.
We all know Genya deserved better
This is why genya is actually one of, if not my favorite death in the series. I can't wait to see him get more animated.

I actually have a little theory on how Genya is able to become a demon. Kokushibo said to Kaigaku(ch 145 pg 4) how there are those who are resistant to demon blood ,so like Genya sort of is on a safety net that is above water. the water being the demon side. so hes able to reach out and touch the water and have the properties of a demon but doesnt fall into becoming a real demon
That would make sense, combined with his special organs that make it possible for him to consume demon flesh. Makes you wonder what's with the Shinazugawa's since the eldest is a powerful marechi and Genya is... Genya.
i wonder if like nezuko, genya could have resisted the sun, cause nezuko was able to resist it cause 1. she did not consume flesh nor blood of humans 2. she was fully in control and kept her memories and ego unlike most other demons and 3. she had a reason to keep going and live aside from selfishness, nezuko had tanjiro, zenitsu and inosuke and she wanted to keep living not because she was selfish but because she was selfless and wanted to protect her loved ones. this is what differentiates nezuko from other demons and what i belive to be the criteria to resist the sun and genya also fits all these catagories.
and before u say she can resist the sun cause she has sun breathing blood or whatever she dont, yoriichi is only a family friend who taught the sword art, she aint related to him and she aint ever used sun breathing. neither tanjiro nor nezuko are fit to use sun breathing, tanjiro could only use it through great effort and struggles, they aint related to yorrichii.

But Genya is seen turning back to the human side each time he eats demons, even when he was dying his eye colors revert to normal meaning even when he eats Upper rank demons he should have turned back into a human after exhausting his internal blood supply.
As the person above your comment stated it seems that Demon Eaters have a unique ability in that they can't fully become a demon through this process as you eat them instead of turning thru blood, as getting infected (by anything invasive) through your blood and stomach are two entirely different ways your body defuse things. Stuff in your bloodstream has an easier time effecting your WHOLE body whilst eating it usually brings it to where you store different junk and it gets stashed there. So most likely what they're doing is similar to how certain drugs effect your body (in this case because it's the most studied and used I'll make the case with Marijuana) if you eat it, it rushes to your stomach before getting stored in your fat cells, and also getting sent to certain parts of your brain to give you that 'tingly feeling of sensation' which results with less effecting your actual blood stream because it's hitting other parts of your body.

I really liked the story as a whole but didn't really feel the sense 5(tanjiro and co) were so close as the mangaka tried to make them with a panel or two of them hanging out aside the main three as we never saw them together once in the main storyline.
He was a great character in his different powers and his brother became one of my favorites of the pillars.

@@superblanco444 yeah a lot of the demon pillars became great but some too late like the snake one being my least favorite while giyu tokitou and rengoku just being great overall. Ur my favorite male and female are zenitsu and nezuko overall as zenitsu one shotting his evil senpai who ruined a lot of people while in color is one of the best moments in the manga. Nezuko overall was just great and cute as it went while the flip of her stopping tanjirou was very nice
@Hans Hanzo yeah genya should have stayed to his brother and tanjirou but I still won't say it was good to try to force the sense 5 group as friends as they really aren't even with that one panel forced in as it was a miss overall. At best tanjirou is everyone's friend while everyone of the other 5 are not so close aside zenistu to inosuke.
His brother was better overall and glad he survived barley seeing his family aside his dad as it's a better twist than genya living being set up as the main 5.
Well tamayo did make him a demon so it wasn't anything bad so if he dies one die he should be fine but sad for uzaki who was justified in my eyes seeing what the dojo did to his love and father. Zenistus senpai can burn in the underworld for being so evil to many people and glad he lost in a one shot.
I'm sure the anime adaptation will give the group more time together. It's expanded on the spider family despite them being irrelevant past their own arc, so I feel confident it will improve.
@@commonviewer2488 yeah but that's not a fix to the original story as a whole especially with how they took one chapter and made it into two episodes which throws off pacing pretty much and that's not even when they added the spin off chapters or it.
Overall the 5 don't hang out much in story as we see next the brothel arc and train with just the main 3 while tanjirou and co more so talk to unohana I mean flower pillar than eye girl.
Beat guess for when the cast of 5 senses can hang out is right before muzan slaughters everyone as they are all in one place but that would not make for a good cast of friends unless they extend the training scene to show it but by then we want the upper moon battles.
Overall it's hard to find a good place as it's either recovering or training seperate for the 5.
Bleach would need it in the later half of the anime to fix up the ending aside the final chapter that is fine.
He was like a keystone in a bridge. If you took him away, the pressure of the bridge would shift and completely crumble.
It's sad that he died, but he saved many lives doing so.

I'm rewatching this video after watching it when it first came out 2 years ago. It kind of might sound ridiculous, but Genya means a lot to me. I have NEVER had a character stick with me as much as he has after the manga finished a couple years ago. He has been in my thoughts RENT FREE ever since. He hasn't even made a major appearance yet*, but here I am with way too much offbrand merch of this mf. I am absolutely overjoyed for the Swordsmith Village arc in April. I've been anticipating my boy getting more screen time for a good while. I hope Gotouge has a say in the anime to an extent, because I'm really hoping she help to add more scenes of him and other underutilized characters later down the line. I don't think he was wasted, by any means, but we deserved more of him. He's a great character. He's also, by far (to me at least), the most unique character in the series. I also found he really is much more MC material than Tanjiro ever was. Really interesting to think about. He truly did deserve better both narratively and literally.

Not gonna lie, Genya may have become my favorite character, (My favorite used to be Rengoku) I don’t know, characters that take massive damage and still keep living is just so fun to watch. So characters like Garou (From OPM) and Guts (From Berserk) are normally my favorite characters and I’m always excited when I see them on screen.
Rengoku is still my fav but yes you can’t help but love characters like this and Genya so easily misunderstood at the beginning, those thug outer persona with big hearts just really become favorites so easily.

I always wanted to read a series that challenges Japan's view on guns as a weapon, or at least acknowledges the American narrative of it being the great equalizer weapon.
Tons of Anime have prominent gun combat scenes. But the reason why the majority of battle shounens don't feature guns prominently as a method of combat is because the gun is too powerful in a fight. It can one-shot anyone instantly unless they have some sort of power to guard against that, so in a fight with a gun, the author is forced to give the characters some thick plot armor, or make the guns useless at hitting targets, both of which just take you out of the story. I mean, just look at Star Wars. I can count on one hand the amount of times a main character was actually shot by a blaster. Or for anime, look at JoJo. The only time a gun ever did anything in the entirety of JoJo were 3 fights in Part 5.
Zus Frankenstein guns exist in my hero and it doesn’t seem like anyone has any inherit resistance to bullets so i have no idea why only one person uses them. can you imagine how busted someone with a precision/accuracy power would be with guns
@@elanadeshina7521 We've seen like 3 gun users in the series one being the hero Snipe who does have homing bullets btw and while the guns are effective against people who don't really fight/are relatively normal like Shigaraki it just has zero utility on the top tiers. Deku casually shrugged off automatic fire in the first movie so there existence is just invalidated by nearly all the main cast who matters.

If your planning doing more demon slayer videos soon, I would love if did one on the upper moon demon one kukushibo, I just find his path into becoming a demon so fascinating and when really think is kinda flip to the old shouen formula.
Darryl Dawkins Yea Kokoshibo reminds me a lot of Bakugo but a very realistic version of him. Such a great character.
He needs to make Akaza first. Don't get me wrong, Kokushibo is amazing, but Akaza just has the best backstory in Demon Slayer.

Bl_ Rosé sorry I was late on this. He was raised that he was the best much like Bakugo and became extremely bitter once his knowingly “weak” brother at the time showed him up. He also still aspired to be the best which is why he became a demon unlike endeavor who was prioritizing his offspring to be the strongest.
@@superblanco444 Endevour still wanted to be the strongest in any form and treated Todoroki as tool for that ideal(not as a son). Both essentially discarded their family to reach their goals. That's why I say they're so similar.

Genya is also really creative. Using the Nichirin metal to make bullets, and abiltity to maintain himself while consuming demon flesh. An honestly overlooked demon slayer.
