Cabinet Approves Unified Pension Scheme / +3 Admission Guidelines Changed / Heavy Rainfall
The Cabinet on August 24, 2024, approved the implementation of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), a reform aimed at benefiting approximately 23 lakh government employees. The new scheme , in addition to gratuity, will incorporate a lump sum payment upon superannuation. The Odisha government has modified guidelines and allowed students who have already taken admission after phase I of UG counselling, to participate in the phase II admission process under SAMS (Students’ Academic Management System). The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that several parts of Odisha would continue to experience thunderstorms and heavy rainfall activities till August 27, 2024.
