- Chinking is a long and hot process in the Georgia heat. Thankfully I had help from Melonie of "Mel of the Mountains" for a few days. More of the process is detailed in an article on my blog: survivalsherpa.wordpress.com/...
Thanks for watching, and, as always, keep Doing the Stuff of Self-Reliance.

Great job on the chinking, Todd. Extra nice when you have help. Happy Thanks giving. Stay safe and stay warm
Hey, good to see you back. I just mentioned you to a friend, told him you did nice work with a long handled double bit.
Chinking, like icing a cake. ROFL, that may wind up on a shirt.
The cabin is looking great Todd 😃👌🏼
Thank you, David!
Here’s my nickel 🪙. I want that tour with Steve. Lol.
Nice ... curious to learn what the actual materials used in the chinking process? Thank you
we're using mortar for the chinking
It’s looking great close up but why no shot of the whole cabin are you hiding a helipad on the roof or something? Seriously I can’t wait to see a full view.
I'll have to shoot a walk around for you, Steve. Give you the nickel tour. Just keep the helipad to yourself please.
Really coming along. Are you planning on living in it, or is it just a getaway spot?
This cabin was a test for my retirement cabin that I'm currently building, which will be a lot bigger.
I missed the roof build I’ll have to go back and look for it
I haven't edited that footage yet. I'm way behind on posting.
@@SurvivalSherpa ha. Ok
Hey! You have the comments turned off on the log wizard vs spud video. I liked the cable suspension thing but I reall dislike the log wizard, had one and found it was a pain to sharpen and tied up a saw, so I needed to keep two saws on the site. It does have a place but I try as hard as possible not to use it, so much so its now lost in the clutter of the shop, I know I couldn't put my hands on it if I wanted. Yes winter logs don't peel at all with a spud, but spring or summer logs will slip with ease. You must give us your honest opinion with details.
Hey man! Hope all is well your way. I'm not digging the wizard either. It takes too long to skin a log and the blades are dull now. I've got to sharpen them if I use it this weekend.
I'm going to dig out my drawknives this weekend. I plan to set up logs on sawhorses to save my back. I'm writing a blog now on my thoughts on the Log Wizard. I'll add it here when done.
Take care!
It's been so long since I post a video that I must have click button to disable comments. I believe I fixed that now.
My least favorite part of cabin building but it looks really good.
It is labor intensive, as you well know! Hope you're enjoying your cabin, sir! Thank you.
I think you were getting pretty close to violating 'CZcams community standards' with the UP-KILT view of that last camera angle. 😜 I averted my gaze just in case there might be something I'd want to unsee.
Haha, yeah I edit carefully when I'm sporting my kilt!
