this is a really weird place to say this but am i the only that thinks that while joey has improved so much since avpm, he wasn't actually THAT bad of a singer? yes, he's improved a whole lot, but it isn't as bad as a lot of people imply lol.
I don't see it as implying that he was bad in the early days, but that he's improved/grown so much as a performer since then that's it's genuinely impressive. At least, that's my take on it. Some of my favorite vocals of his are from Starship (I have listened to Status Quo more times than is probably healthy).
@@sanityisrelative oh, yeah! i'm sorry for the late reply, but anyways, here goes. i don't really think saying someone improves means they were horrible at first, but i just meant that i've also seen people straight up say he was bad haha. or some that also just imply it. of course, i respect their opinions, but imo he wasn't terrible, just not as good as he is now. also, i love him on starship too!

No, you're not the only one. I see that all the time too and I... don't really get it? Okay, so I haven't actually seen AVPM yet, except for a few clips, but I have seen MAMD and his voice is, in my opinion, absolutely fantastic there. Maybe I am more forgiving of things like voice cracks because of how well they fit that character, (that is probably true), and maybe my love for him is blinding me just a bit, (that also could be true), but his voice is full of emotion and characterization, and has real beauty of tone in the early recordings. I definitely do think his voice has improved, but also it's hard to judge because a. the recording quality and "instrumentals to vocals ratio"/mixing is much better now and b. the way he sings in most of the early roles is very different than a lot of the newer songs like, say, Made in America. His voice as Joey (MAMD) or Bug is much softer, and a bit higher-ranged, so it's difficult to make a comparison. I suppose it could be compared to Grunt, but Grunt has a very distinct voice, sort of "spread" (and I don't mean that in a bad way, I'm just not sure what word to use.) But that's the thing with Starkid, all of them are so good at inhabiting a variety of characters with distinct voices, Joey, Lauren, and Joe especially, in my opinion, thoroughly melt into their roles, and it's one of the most fun things about listening to/watching them; it can just make comparison difficult is all.
To people pointing out the lack of Owen: Joey has had an insane amount of characters throughout the years and there are so many that aren’t in this. I’m planning on making a part 2 eventually but I just couldn’t fit everything into one video (I couldn’t even fit all of Brian into one video and he’s barely had any characters at all). Just because a character isn’t in this doesn’t mean I forgot about them. (Just wanted to clear that up)

Okay I'm gonna go on a rant about the amazing human being that is Joey Richter and some of the amazing characters he plays cause yes.
Ron was always my least favourite of the golden trio, especially movie Ron, but Joey's portrayal (especially ~that~ scene in AVPSY) made me like him more and relate more

Before I stop my ranting I want to mention him in Choose our destiny because he (as well as the others) is always amazing there (the 'fuck you bethany' lives in my head rent free along with the no pets on the moon song)
