  • Decided to make this video in celebration of Federers most recent Grand Slam! One notable point thats missing is the Wimbledon 2008 passing shot. I tried to take the entire point into consideration, not just one shot, which is why that pass is absent. With that being said enjoy the video!

That AO Final point in the 5th may have been the best point of his entire career! And what's different about that point from all the others is that there is no fancy shots, and no laughing and smiling about the point afterwards. He was right in the thick of fighting off a friekin werewolf that wanted to tear his heart out and sit on his chest while eating it up letting all that delicious blood and gore drip down his chin. That's what made this win so great: Federer is not that type of person or player, yet he adapted himself and his game, and *HE* *WON*! He got away from that nightmare fiend, and he is probably going to leave with not just that trophy, but with the G.O.A.T. title - and rightly so. He is perhaps the greatest sportsman of all time, not just tennis player.

Jimmy Jefferson being a Rafa fan, I always considered Roger the GOAT of tennis before the AO title but now he deserves to be considered the GOAT. I don't give a sh*t about the weak era etc. he showed the world that he can play great in all surfaces having great results. Thank god we had these two legends playing against each other and giving the fans those epic matches. Lets hope now for the 10th RG for Rafa ;).

Diego Artazcoz Yeah they have definitely made one another better, especially Nadal making Roger have to get better. I would love to see another Nadal-Federer RG Final this year! Crazy is it may sound, I do think Federer would have a chance. Why? Because Nadal looked tired in the AO Final, which you really don't see with him. And RG requires more energy - unless he shortens the points, rather than choosing to grind down his opponents as a strategy. That's just IMHO.

    • @diegoartazcoz2390
      @diegoartazcoz2390 Před 7 lety +1

Jimmy Jefferson but the recovery in clay is way easier and specially for Rafa than in hard courts. So we cannot compare the AO with RG in terms of physical strength.

The Difference between Federer and a player like Djokovic is that Federer's game is much more spectacular. and elegant. He is a pleasure for the eyes. Unlike Djoko's robotic game that is oftenly big marathons and baseline points, Fed can do anything and his best points don't look like each other because he has so much creativity thanks to his technique and touch. Make no mistake, Djoko is a fantastic player but even if he ends up winning more grand slams than Federer, I will always consider Fed the GOAT.

Fed is amazing to watch. His balance, flexibility and recovery on points where he has to cover long distance to get to the ball is incredible. I’ve been playing 40+ years and realize how difficult it is to send the ball back at an extreme angle from the direction you are moving - never mind doing it multiple times on a single point. Even if you were/are a 5.0+ player, there are times when Fed does stuff that you say “ no way I could do that - no freakin’ way”.

@@molybdaenmornell123hopp5 Thank you Captain Obvious, for missing the point entirely, because nobody was talking about making their father just “satisfied”. The comment was rather about having their father as proud of them to the same extent of pride as Roger Federer’s dad is of his son. I’ll try to make this very easy for you to make up for your lack of imagination. The comment said, “I wish my father would be *this* proud of me”. The “*this*” being the extent of how proud Federer’s dad is of him. Continuing on, thinking rationally, a father isn’t going to be as proud of a son who just got a job as he would be proud of a son who is Roger Federer, a world-class tennis player. When I said “only one Roger Federer”, that is directed to how impressive Roger Federer is, a world-class tennis player. When I said “don’t count on it”, that is the conclusion of all of this, in that the commenter would have to be on the same order of magnitude as the extent of Roger Federer’s accomplishments for his father to reasonably be capable of being “*this*” proud of the commenter.
I made this comment on the spur of the moment 3 years ago, so I must say that it’s hilarious how you would reply after 3 years with such a dull statement. I’m sorry for being oh so condescending to you in this comment, but perhaps you should reread yours first.

Thanks for the incredible compilation of the Maestro's top points. To me, the most amazing is the one against Hewitt (?) in the AO, because his opponent is in a dominant net position and hits him with 4 impossibly difficult shots in a row. In a near tie is the Del Potro exchange, because he not only has to go coast to coast repeatedly to stay alive, but also manages to get off two consecutive impossible cross-court shots with perfect placement. The third best is the Roddick sequence. Nevertheless, I'm sure you could find an incredibly impressive second and third set of ten best points.

Djokovic is the most clutch player in the big moments. They all have so many great qualities. All are UNBELIEVABLE. People need to stop getting caught up in the GOAT debate. Just enjoy and appreciate all of them. What Nadal achieves doesn't diminish the other two. That goes for Federer and Djokovic too. I'm hoping for some more epics between all of them.

The 2017 AO Final point is, in my opinion the greatest point of his career and one of the greatest points of all time in its context. That match, if we can call anyone such, is to me the greatest tennis match ever contested. It had every element that made the 2008 and 2009 Wimbledon finals great, as well as the 2012 AO Final an epic one. Both players deserve all the praise they got for their display and are all time greats in their own merits. I used to not quite like Nadal because his emphasis on physical effort, but he has proved this year that he is much more than outlasting and overpowering other players with everything he has done.
And Federer, well, he's Federer, I knew deep inside that he had something in himself that would propel him back to the top of the game and he didn't prove me wrong and gave me another few years to enjoy watching tennis with his displays. I still get chills on my spine while watching that 5th set point and I'm so glad I got to see it all live on TV, as I did his US Open tweener against Djokovic. From a hardcore Nadal fan, Federer probably deserves the title of GOAT most amongst the big three.

Man, watching that point against Del Potro in the 09 US Final to immediately break and do so with that spectacular point, looking back on it now pains me so much to know he would go on to lose that match. I am sure there wasn't a single person who gave Juan a chance in hell to win that match after witnessing that greatness.

No matter how many titles djokovic will claim, in my humble opinion Roger is still the GOAT! He made tennis look entertaining and artistic, rather than just boring

The beauty you are talking about is superficial.
In terms of vision of the game/geometry of the court/adaptability to conditions and opponents/mental strength/combativity, Djokovic is recognized to be the best of all time.
Djokovic has a tennis IQ of 200+ btw
Also, Djokovic's technique is just exemplary, watching his highlights are worth 100 tennis books&lessons, if you want to have a good look at how should be played modern professional tennis.
This guys is 34 y/o and still rank #1, and able to win even more.

*When Federer held all the records 5 years ago, the records were the only thing his fans stated as the supreme argument on the GOAT topic.* 🗣🗣🗣🏆+🥇+ 📈 *=* 🇨🇭🐐
And now that Djokovic keeps conquering all of his records, suddenly records don't matter anymore. Suddenly it's all about the beauty of the game they present on the court, and who is more likabel as a person. *Tennis is NOT figure skating, nor artistic swimming and will never be, not a popularity contest or Miss Universe either.*
You can love someones personality and the way he plays more then others, but ultimately when they all retire, *accept it or not (it doesn't matter 🤷‍♂️) the GOAT will be the one with the most records, who ever that be!* *NUMBERS DON'T LIE* 🥇🏆📊
