"You're not going to kill one of your own people for a Bajoran woman. "
"How little you understand me."
Dukat would also kill him for a Bajoran woman
That scream “FOR CARDASSIA” is so memorable. What an arc…
Unfortunately for some of us this and BABYLON 5 is life imitating art. FOR UKRAINE!
It was a little disappointing to be honest.
(Spoilers)
I Mean if they were gonna kill Damar anyway why didn't they give his arc to Dukat?
They wanted a Prophet Vs Prophet end fight for The Sisko. It should been Kai Wynn, but a black man beating up a white woman might not have been all that well received, I think.
But ya, Dukat should have stayed a half good guy, and sacrificed himself to save Sisko & Bajor.
@@tatianalyulkin410 Well, I don't like to draw parallels between art and real life (when they are not intended by the author), but I'd say it's not a good one. Cardassia is a militaristic agressor that invaded and occupied other worlds, that looks more like russia in our example. If we are to compare DS9 world to our own, I'd say Bajor looks more like Ukraine
Odo: you´d shoot a man in the back?
Garak: "well..it´s the safest way, isn´t it?"
Odo: "..and now u regeret it that u didn´t do it"
Garak: "my dear Constable Odo... in the next hour we will all regret that"
The "all", being the characters in DS9 did live to regret it.
For example Worf stops Garak from using the quantum torpedoes of the Defiant to vaporise the Changeling home world. He lived to regret that because in stopping him, the Dominion invaded, swept up the Cardassians into the war, inflated Dukats sense of ego that lead to DS9 being retaken, Dukat losing his mind and turning to the PahWraith and then killing his beloved wife Jadzia Dax.
And that's just one example.
That would have start war earlier before the Federation could prepare. They barely won against a vanguard force station at Cardassins empire while the bulk of the Dominion might was trapped in the gamma quadrant.
I love the shot at Earl Grey Tea.
I do love EG...Don't get me wrong... But that was funny
Garak: "I've noticed everyone seems to trust me. It's quite unnerving. I am still trying to get used to it. Next thing I know people will be inviting me to their homes to dinner."
Chief O'Brien: "Well, if it makes you feel any better, I promise I will never have you over."
Just simple genius dialogue.
I love the look on his face when he says “I’m not a tailor”
But he's just a simple tailor. 😂
Andy Robinson's Garak .... without his character and masterful portrayal of Garak, Star Trek DS9 would have been immeasurably diminished.
Garak was my favorite character on the show for sure.
all Startrek even all SciFi
Same here
He never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
"We live in uncertain times" - I'd like to think Garak still thrived even on post-war Cardassia. I hope some future show will make him return.
STO made him the leader of New Cardassia.
Garrak is my favorite character in all forms of fiction. He’s so 50/50 on the spectrum of love or hate, and that is something I love about him.
Without a doubt he was the best written character in the show.
2:05 "You'd shoot a man in the back?"
Yes of course, it's a pity he's awake!
I got to admit that Garak was perhaps my favorite character in the series. He could definitely put the element of intrigue in every episode he was featured. His cool comedic moments were also a treat.
4:38 Garak stepping partially into the light, but not fully, is perfect.
"Computer agrees with Julian."
"Of course it does, they think alike."
i sometimes felt like the whole series was around a story ark about a cardasian taylor :) i don't know who had the idea of Garak and his story but it was amazing , one of the best in Star Trek universe. top 3 story arks for sure.
Spy, tailor, exile, revolutionary, what an awesome character
"Giving me a name tag that read 'Elam Garak, former Cardassion Oppressor' was hardly polite." That always has me rolling.
I think Garak's most underrated pairing is with Kira.
My dungeon awaits.
That was a sick episode.
1:07 they still sing songs of the Tailor; Plain, Simple, Garak...
As a Trek fan, I love me some Garak He is cunning, mysterious, and often funny.
Got to amend he is 1 of my favorite characters on all the Star Trek series
2:40 "Hope for the best, but expect the worst." I wonder if this saying originated from Garak. Would make perfect sense.
Nah the earliest mention of this was in The Tragedie of Gorbuduc by Thomas Norton and Thomas Sackville (1561)
It's actually a Jewish aphorism.
Isn't that also a song in Mel Brooks movie "The Twelve Chairs"?
o god i just found a saying for my "negativity" as every one calls it.
Bashir: He can't help being negative, it's in his nature.
Garak: On the contrary, I always hope for the best, experience unfortunately has taught me how to expect the worse.
Plain and simple John DiMarco, former Carogan oppressor. 🙂
I thought they would be grateful to hear someone provide them with an opposing philosophical view...
@@JohnDiMarco Don't let our God Emperor the almighty Bird hear you using phrases like "...an opposing philosophical view..." because you know what will happen next! You'll be taking a little trip to the Uranium Mines. 🙂
I really wish they'd brought Garak back Picard
We live in INTERESTING times.
"There is a curse. They say: may you live in interesting times."
Best character in all of Star Trek; hell, I probably wouldve hugged him in that last scene after the final line
My favorite star trek characters : Garak & Jean Luc .
we live in uncertain times.
Garak filled in all the gaps.😮
The Lord is near.
Awesome Bible quote at the end friend. Praise God
The target audience dude's have no idea yet
For Kardasia!
That call
Just how many fascist aliens were on that station?
All good until the religious propaganda at the end ... Sad.
This isn't propaganda, you big crybaby
whats with the pitiful bible propaganda text at the end of these `?
The bible quote was both disappointing and hilarious. Much like the entire bible itself.
Thanks for watching.
