  • Chris Downey takes us on a trip to work from the perspective of a man who recently lost his sight and relates his non-visual senses to the world of architecture.
    Chris is an architect, planner, and consultant who lost his sight in 2008. Today, he is dedicated to creating more helpful and enriching environments for the blind and visually impaired. His 20-year career has encompassed a broad range of award-winning projects from custom residences to Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth, MN, and the MIT's Rotch Architectural Library.

    In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event.

    Mariam Al Ameri- I don't know how you are really comparing him to Steve? He's a total different kind of a person that work's for the disabled people. He's reaching more to benefit everybody. However Steve as we know might be famous because of his customer groups. But Steve nevertheless did anything to improve the lifestyles of the disabled ones. Don't ever compare Chris with Steve. He is steps way higher than Steve in the stairs of humanity.
