  • Since fear is a HUGE component to pain becoming chronic and staying persistent, learning how to lower fear is a critical step in ending chronic pain.

    I've said it before and will again, Dan to do these videos so often and without seeing nothing but dollar signs to help people, shows your true character and desire to help people, and that is amazing so thank you. Of course tailored or one on one help is still a good part of what you offer and that also is amazing, but what you do in these videos had helped me more than any book or video I have watched in over a year and I've read them all. Thank you...

    Yes, this is the pure gold for me. The whole fear thing. Don't berate yourself for feeling the fear, that's an automatic reaction that happens too quickly for you to stop. BUT!!! once the fear is there you DO have some ability to not add to it. Just kind of take note of it, then get on with your day, even a false smile can help.
    I had a NASTY upper back flare-up on Saturday & did the above & it ramped down WAAAY quicker than it ever has done in 25yrs.

      Fantastic Anthony. Amazing how when we stop freaking out about the pain, the brain gets the message that there's no danger and can turn the pain down quickly. Keep at it. You're on the right track.

    My husband insisted I get an MRI for my back pain. I was afraid of that they would say I was broken. I’m glad I did get the test because it was better than I thought! I am now more convinced I am not broken! I am doing graded exposure with more confidence.

So I’m glad I did . 8 miles later , he was surprised I kept up . I told him I’m trying to rewire my brain. Pain was less after riding.

    Just last night I experienced the power of fear! Ever since having strep throat years ago, my throat is very sensitive to a lot of talking or yelling. Last night I started feeling a sore throat come on and internally I began to panic - thinking could it be Covid? Am I getting sick? What am I gonna do? And then it occurred to me that in the morning, I spent about 10-15 minutes talking really loud because of some noise and that was probably what caused it. But in those few minutes the fear was real and then when the accurate knowledge kicked in, I was fine. The mind is SO powerful! Another great video, Dan!

    My pain began after my nephew died of cot death. I went through some real health issues a few days after and then the pain never left even after I was physically better.
    I notice that when I’m under pressure my pain intensifies. I’ve always suffered from the occasional back niggle after waking. I used to laugh at it, use my massage chair and be fine a day or 2 later. But now I catastrophise everything and every ache and pain creates fear.
    After listening to you for a few days my back got better but then I had a couple of stresses and it came back so watching again and not going to give up. Thank you for all your videos you really are life saver for many people.

    What would you say about Lyme Disease? I am in the beginning of treatment for Lyme/parasites/mold. I know on some level all my symptoms get triggered by stress but at the same time, all the symptoms are part of the Lyme/parasite/mold symptomology. The Pain Free techniques do resonate in many way with anxiety- which is something else I struggle with. BUT then it has been states that certain tick-borne illnesses cause anxiety???
    Here is a story- a teenage girl with severe anorexia who could not get better, hospitalized in patient - turns out had Lyme and once treated was 100% better!.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před 2 lety +2

      Her experience does not need to be your experience. You are being treated. You should recover fine. One point about this thing called "chronic lyme". I spoke to someone in veterinary medicine and they said dogs don't get chronic lyme. They get sick from the tick bite, they get antibiotics and get well. What's the difference? No fear or belief systems learned from hearing other peoples Lyme horror stories. Trust the antibiotics to hand the infection. Trust your body to do the rest. The less fear and attention you give the symptoms, the faster you should recover.

    For many people going to a shop or the dentist or a walk around the town is completely normal, does not instil a feeling of it being daunting or fearful, to the point that it can elicit panic attacks. why for gods sakes.

    Yeah, I can't keep the the Sarno books straight either. I think you might have been thinking of The Divided Mind? That one is less backpain-centric. It wouldn't really matter except Dr. Sarno himself recommended *not* reading his first book because he had yet to develop a lot of the TMS concepts. Because I can never remember which is which I always recommend HBP or DM. Those two I have committed to memory....sort of...for now :)

    Hi Dan thank you so much for all that you do 🙏🦄
    I have a burning question about fear I was really hoping u could help me with and I'm sorry if the question is long 😅:
    I recently have come accross tms and u channel and yesterday i did th pain test on ur website,I scored 31, and on the PPD test I scored 33/37 so veryyyyyyy convinced I have tms. (I've officially been diagnosed with me/cfs and potentially fibromyalgia but it's the Severe cfs that's the worst for me and the huge array of symptoms I have, housebound but lately been driving 2 minutes for tiny trips to the park and stuff with ur videos !🙏)
    So anyway, with cfs a huge issue is this "post exertional malaise " and sometimes it kicks in later that day or even 2 days after the activity or thing you have done, hard to explain quickly 😅 but this is the fear that's keeping me stuck-never knowing if any tiny little thing or bit more that I do might set it off and sometimes not knowing for a day or so. I know it means I'm still basically really fearful of the symptoms. I know it's tms and so I'm not afraid of there being anything structural wrong now, but I'm afraid of my brains automatic response to increase in any activity (this even includes talking to ppl for longer than 10 min 😅 because of how bad I got in the recent past just doing these things 😅 ) do u have any advice on how to tackle this anxiety or fear of the so called "post exertional malaise "? Thank you SOOO much 🦄🙏🙌🌞

    Morning Dan, any advice on how to deal with other people being fearful for you? People who have been along on this crazy ride and have seen me in so much pain are afraid when I want to get moving again and get back to life. They express doubt and concern of flare ups etc. thanks

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před 3 lety

      Yes, simply coach them to not be so over-protective of you. Explain that you know they love you and are just wanting the best for you. But it's important for them to support you and not tell you how limited you are. A loving, honest conversation can do wonders.
