2009 was the year I felt I started a new chapter; we had just renovated our house, so I finally had my own room, not having to share with my sister. I began high school, I started watching anime, I had the radio blasting radio music when I sat in my room drawing, so I 100% remember all these hits. I also only had a flip phone, so I was a bookworm instead of surfing the web. 2009 is truly a special year having a place in my heart.
MissAmieHolly It was a new chapter for me too. It's when I started middle school and started going to a school I would end up staying at until I graduated. I made so many friends and memories there and nothing feels the same anymore after I've graduated. It truly changed my life and I'm hoping for another new beginning in 2019.

@@michaelhawkins7389 Yup, the 9th year(really the 10th including 0) of a decade is the transition year into the new decade to be. Fusing culture of what was the late with the upcoming new decade. In this case 09 was setting up for social media, mainstream YT, death of real internet memes and more for the 10s. Culturally I say 00s ended in 2011. By 2012 smartphones and modern social media usage arrived and had taken over 00s culture. 2019 was a similar case but now its 2021 and we are still kinda in the late 10s culturally (like 2011 with 00s or 2001 with 90s) but you can feel things changing for sure. For one, people have an overwhelming sense of negativity towards the internet in GENERAL now because of how shitty the 10s were. I think we're gonna see a anti-internet movement in the 2020s as crazy as that sounds. Also YT is hella mainstream now and getting too corporates and youre seeing alt media rising up. the last year of a decade is really pre-of the next.

he & my grandpa had the same birthday & he wouldve turned 84. he died on march 26 from covid :'( he was in the emergency room & had a really bad cough 4 months & had trouble breathing. then he was in the hospital 4 another month with some kinda disease & lung damage. so they put him on a ventilator. he caught the virus & died at 8:45 in the morning :'( i miss him soooo much & always will. they were both hoosiers too. actually my grandpa was from wyoming but moved here. i didnt know till i saw his prayer cards at his viewing. he was the most religious guy i knew. he had a jesus license plate, a rosary hanging on his rear view mirror, a statue of mary on his porch & a crucifix next 2 a picture of Him in his room. he prayed at a chapel every thursday. when i said my prayers the night he died i asked god 2 give him the warmest welcome He possibly could 2 heaven & He definitely did. i bet my grandpa was ecstatic 2 meet Him. i prayed his first easter, thanksgiving & christmas in heaven would be his best ones ever. michaels probably showing him how 2 moonwalk right now. r.i.p. grandpa & michael :'( i love both of u :'(
2009 was such a good year I miss the 2000s
I was 7 years old in 2009, I miss that year alot. I had so much fun, The Tv shows and the music was way better! I remember having my first phone which was my moms Motorola Razer that she wasn’t using anymore, Playing on my Nintendo DSi ,Learned how to ride a bike, Riding in the car with my mom while I was in the back seat eating chicken nuggets while listening to LMFAO and Pitbull (which were my favorite artists at that time), and coming home from school watching my favorite shows on Cartoon Network such as Chowder, Garfield, Courage the Cowardly dog and etc...
Time went by so fast! It feels just like It was yesterday!

When you were young and carefree in the 70's ( let's say between 15 and 25 ) you are in your late 20's / early 30 a decade later.
In other words your are a adult.
By then you realise your youth is gone and will never come back again, you have to face the adult life while you get older and older.
For me that's a depressing feeling!

I remember everything about 2009 even when Michael died I stay inside the house to watch the news talking about his death and life and my friends came to my house to play outside and I said I'm watching the news dude about Michael good memories.
Yeah I was in the midwest at the time (region MJ is from and it rained that day) was very gloomy. People were bumping MJ down the street all day.
I remember that day that MJ died. My family and I were on vacation at the time and were at Yosemite National Park in California. My uncle got a text from a friend telling him that MJ had died. Later we went to get dinner at a pizza restaurant right outside the park and the TVs inside the restaurant were all playing the news, and of course all they were talking about was his death.
Can you believe ALL OF THIS officially happened 10 YEARS AGO? We're getting old!

I remembered during our High School graduation rehearsal a staff member announced that Michael Jackson passed away. The whole auditorium when completely silence in disbelief and sadness. Wish they would've added more cool films here like; Push , Halloween, Bruno , Astro Boy, Up. Linkin Park's New Divide song and many more.

Personally I liked 2010 more, but 2009 was still a blast for me! I was 10 back then, I remember when Adam Lambert, Lady Gaga, Metro Station, etc. were on the radio, movies like G-Force, Up, and 2012 were released, and I usually went out with my family every Saturday night. Sigh, I miss the old simple days...
I used to watch Disney, Nick, and Cartoon Network back in 2007 and years before that, but my dad took away our cable at the beginning of 2008. But I do remember watching this channel called Okto in 2008-2010 (I lived Singapore at the time), it borrows some shows from Disney, Nick, and CN.

I can’t believe I finished high school at that year. Very dominant memories were too many for me to count at most. Between the snow trips at Bright and Hotham, and everything else, I’m quite surprised how much ten years can be. Loading study podcasts in my iPod classic while waiting for the on-campus bus trip was quite the experience.

i never saw up in theaters cuz i didnt think i’d like it. but i decided 2 watch it in 2014 so i rented it at family video & i loved it. i bought it sometime after that & i really wish i saw it. it made me decide if i ever get a golden retriever im gonna name him dug too. dugs getting his own show on disney+ called dug days & premieres this fall :) im excited!
