List of things I forgot or would like to add:
1) I totally forgot to talk about the casters. The cooker has very good quality casters that lock. It rolls around my bumpy patio beautifully.
2) I know I showed it during the video with b-roll, but didn’t talk about how much storage this thing has. On the right side, over the propane tank, there’s a storage area with a door that lifts (shown in video). No water gets in and there’s lots of space. There’s also the space under the cooker in the center doors.
3) There is a pellet hopper quick release so you can empty your pellets to either change them out for flavor, or remove them for storage.
Great review I've been looking around for a new pit this one is really nice hopefully when my birthday comes around I can get one
Thank you. I enjoyed how thorough you were. I really really appreciate the honesty.
Thank you very much, Robert!
Very nice review Mike. Looks like a good cooker, maybe I can convince my CFO that we need this for the campground!
Lol you’ve heard that whole thing about permission Vs forgiveness, right? 😉
I can always count on you for a detailed, unbiased review. This cooker definitely ticks a lot of boxes👍😊
Thank you for your kind words and support, Bobbi!
Great review. I got one coming. I will be cleaning regularly
Got to love your honest approach to these review videos. Good concept on the cooker. I'm sure they will tweak things overtime to conform to many of the negatives you pointed out. Looks like a solid grill and built out of decent material. Watched all 29 minutes Mike. I was really getting into it brother!
Thank you, brother! I really liked this cooker overall. I just wanted to make sure to be as detailed and specific about my experience as possible. I’m long winded sometimes but I think it’s better to error on that side with these review videos lol. This cooker definitely has its place in the market. Thank you for your support, brother!
Thank you for the thoughtful review
Thank you very much for watching, Chris!
Love it! I love your videos.
Thank you very much!
Great job Great video loved it
Great review !!!
Thank you very much, Mike 🙏
Thanks Mike! Was looking at this, but I just upgraded my Camp Chef last year and bought a weber performer, so looking not buying. Thanks for the detailed review!
Thank you very much as always, Darin!
Great in depth and honest review like always. It's hard to tell on video but that auger tube and burn pot look a lot smaller than a lot of pellet grills I've seen. If that's true then that could be another factor to long heat times and less smoke flavor. If it's smaller it can't allow as many pellets to be dropped into the burn pot as other pellets grills so that means less BTU'S per drop and less smoke.
In real life it doesn’t appear smaller although I didn’t measure it. You could be right but it might just be the way it appears on video.
Great review! Seems like a solid all in 1, looking to get one soon. Where did you find the cover?? I cannot find one anywhere. Thanks
It was part of the package sent to me from Lifetime. Thank you very much for watching!
Awesome Review!
Thanks, Tom. I meant what I said in the video. I hope I didn’t have findings much different from everyone else. I consider you all friends.
I don’t watch a lot of review videos. But if you do one, even though I know I won’t be buying that particular product, I will watch it. Don’t worry about being “scatterbrained“, that’s the best part of your reviews. Great job on this one and it was worth watching the entire thing. I always put out quality videos like I’ve said before. This is just another one of those.
Stan
Thank you, Stan. Means a lot to me. I do my best to give all the information that I’d want of I was looking at the product. This one has a lot of complexity, and there were a number of ups and downs during the entire experience. I wanted to make sure I shared all that with potential buyers.
Oops that should’ve said you always put out quality videos not me. Lol
We just got ours, cant wait to try it. My wife works for Lifetime and they offered a one time only deal for this grill. We were able to get this product with the cover for $563.00 total. Great deal, couldn't be happier. Thanks for the great video.
Thank you very much for watching and for the feedback, Jason!
My son worked there when that deal was offered. He didn’t remember us saying that we wanted one. He quit before we had a chance to buy one through him. 😢
@@angelacrowley7245 bummer, that sucks.
Great job Mike! Watched this twice. I'm thinking about buy this cooker, 2 things you talked about concern me. One, you said it wasn't a smokey as you would like, the other is the time to come to temperature. So my question to you is on the smokey flavor, would it be equal to a Pit Boss (I have the 850 Pro Series)? The other, how long do you think it would take to get to 300 degrees on a 40 degree day? Thanks in advance for you reply.
On the smoke flavor, I have never used a Pit Boss but I’d simply say I’d rank this on the lower end of pellet grills. For the pre-heat, I didn’t perform any timed tests but it was noticeably longer than other pellet cookers I’ve used.
I've been eyeing this grill for a little bit. Just decided to look up some reviews. Thanks for taking the time.
Just at I thought, not really for me. I only cook on cast iron. The temp gage is needed, I don't need my phone to notify me how my food is going
My pleasure. Hope it helps.
Thanks Mike for the review. Let me start by saying I love lifetime products. I have their basketball hoop, multiple tables and chairs, kayaks, and I even had one of their sheds at my old house. (I live just a few miles from their Clearfield distribution center) That said it looks like Lifetime needs to rethink a lot things about this grill!!
Come on Lifetime, you can do better at that price point!!!!!
I think they did a great job overall and what issues there are I believe can be resolved without much hassle.
Great video - I’m trying to figure out if there is a water tray or if it requires to be spritzed every few hours- can you clarify? Thanks!
No water tray. Spritzing is optional.
Hello Mike 😃👋 I do not have one but I will watch !!
I really appreciate your support, Candy!
You know if you can change the nozzles from propane to natural gas? Thanks for the review good job!
I don’t remember. Check their website, it will surely answer that question. I believe there’s a link right to their product page in the video description.
Nice review
Thank you, Gary!
This is a really good honest review. I got this cooker about a year ago and have been mostly happy with it. I did have an issue with the internal temperature sensor going bad after a few months. Lifetime sent me a new one but it was a pita to replace. My grease drip tray doesn't work as well. The grease just seems to sit there and not funnel down into the bucket. I don't know if my deck surface is not level or what but it does mean I have to clean it a lot more often. Totally 1000% agree that the grill grates should be cast iron especially at this price point. Also totally agree that there should be non-electric temp gauge. All in all it's a decent pellet grill option but not sure I'd buy it again especially with other brands coming out with these hybrid pellet/propane grills.
I haven’t seen a lot of hybrid models except for the Camp Chef. Pit Boss makes one but the grilling units are separate. Would love some recommendations!
What other hybrids are out there?
Hi Mike, enjoyed the review - it's a year old, and do you know of any changes that have been made on the grill or app since you reviewed the product? The BigBox store is selling the grill for $1300 this week. So to repeat as I often do, I wonder if you had any intel on any product changes made?
No changes that I’m aware of 👍🏼
Thanks for the review! What are the dimensions of the main grilling surface? Then the dimensions of the warming rack?
Robert, I haven’t measured them but if you click on the link for their product page, the information should be there. If not, let me know and I’ll go outside and measure.
@@EverydayBBQ thanks! Site says grill footprint is 24.5 L by 32.5 W. Which is 796 sq inches. But it had said only 742 sq inches in another place. So was trying to find out actual. I can post on their site for clarity.
I’m not in the market for a cooker right now but I always enjoy watching Mike’s review videos they’re honest they’re very accurate and very trustworthy what he tells you is what The product will actually perform like. Well done and I didn’t feel that it was a scatterbrained review at all
Thank you very much, brother!
@@EverydayBBQ my pleasure! anytime brother!
Good morning. It’s been a while since you posted this video. After living with it for the summer season, what’s your impression now? Have any updates been made by Lifetime?
I had a good Weber grill for 5-6 years and it was still in good shape when I sold it to a neighbor. Replaced it with a Camp Chef woodwind 24 with sear box. Within 6 months the unit was rusting inside and out along with the rods for the dampers etc. Camp Chef did me a solid and sent me an entire brand new cooker. It’s still in the box as I further evaluate the current one. It is just decaying before my eyes. As a disclaimer, it’s uncovered outdoors (no roof) and as irony would have it I seem to always use it when rain is in the forecast, so the rain cover may not be put back on for a day to so.
I’m sure you’ve reviewed or used both. Before I purchase this and spend another $$ will it last like my Weber did which was treated the same way.
You’re advice is welcome. So many companies have great reviews, but they are usually first impressions.
I have not used it more than a couple times. There have been no changes on my end and I have not heard of any from Lifetime, although there may have been.
Weber grills are almost all porcelain coated and therefore will withstand the outdoors much better than other brands that are not porcelain coated, which is almost all other brands. A cover will go a long way. Without that, most grills you purchase will deteriorate quickly.
Have you done a review or used a Meatstick thermometer yet? I got one about a month ago and haven't used it yet, its set up but sitting on the counter waiting to be used.
I have not. I don’t think they’ve sent me one but I recently heard about it.
I haven't used my pellet cooker in any outside temperature lower than 40 F. These pellet grills will run at low outside temperature, but it makes sense it will burn more pellets. In order to make up that delta in cold weather temperatures, the burn pot has to burn hotter. I'm wondering if that made a difference in the amount of smoke you got on these cooks. Plus, you said the fan ran constantly, so that's a lot of cold air you're pumping into the grill as well. With my pellet cooker, I do not get a lot of smoke when I'm cooking 325 F or higher. I'll be interested to see how it does in warmer temperatures.
I actually said the fans did not run constantly. However they do in other pellet cookers. I’ve also used pellet cookers before in lower temperatures, this wasn’t the first time. It is noticeable that this one takes longer to preheat and also provides less smoke flavor. I believe these are easy things to cure and wouldn’t require a whole new cooker to do so. Reprogramming the firmware to have more temperature swings would help with smoke. Possible redesigning the removable tray could help with heat circulation and smoke flavor also. You can also add a small pellet smoke tube inside the cooker for added smoke flavor. Easy fixes I think but I’m not an engineer. Overall great job on the cooker and quality parts/feel as well.
@@EverydayBBQ Thanks for the clarification. My Traeger Timberline fan doesn't run constantly either on low and slow cooks, but it seems to at higher temperature set points. I've used a pellet tube at higher temperature cooks for the reason you point out. On Grilla Grills pellet smokers you can select control modes between analog or PID. The analog mode will give you more smoke, but wider temperature fluctuations, whereas the PID control will maintain the temperature closer to the set point, but will produce less smoke. I agree on your assessment of the grill/smoker. If you didn't have either, this would be the way to go. I sincerely enjoy your reviews. You are very honest giving us viewers a high level of trust in your opinion. No grill will be perfect, but based on my experience with Lifetime products, I believe they will do what they can to address some of the shortcomings.
Good video, little slow play 1.5. That it a me problem, no patience.
I get grease fires if I don’t clean it after the maybe second time after using after I clean it.
i typically clean my firepot out every 40lbs of usage. never have any problems
I believe you but I go about 10 lbs. I’ve seen too many major fires on Facebook to test it. Do what works for you.
Any idea yet as to how this stands up to outdoor moisture and rusting?
It was fine here up until spring when I donated it to a veteran. As far as I know he has no issues. It’s built really well and it’s heavy duty.
Hay Mike hope you and your family are well
Thank you and you as well, Richard!
@@EverydayBBQ me and my eldest boy have covid I'm on my 3rd time of having it my boy is 6 and it's really hit him hard
Wow I hope you all get well fast. It sucks.
@@EverydayBBQ I'm not to bad I just feel like ive got a really bad head cold but my boys has slept for the last 2 days finger cross he should be feeling better soon
@@richardsarcheryreviews I’ll pray for him. I hate when kids are sick.
No one can say that you won't thorough. Definitely hard for a cooker to have so many features and get it all perfect
Agreed. They did a great Job overall.
1400 is a ton of money. I just don't see the need to spend that much to get a good grilling result. If you have a propane cooker buy a few smoke boxes put in some wood chips of your choice and enjoy the flavor while at the same time looking at your wallet and the fact that it still has something green in it that is not lettuce :)
Of course there are lots of ways to make good food. It doesn’t have to be this cooker or any other for that matter. It’s all about what someone wants, can afford and what they like to cook.
What pellets have been used in this grill?
Lumberjack
Wow the fact you got low smoke with lumberjack definitely says alot about this product. I’ve been ordered by the boss at home to have 1 outside cooker. So it’s between this or the masterbuilt gravity 800/1050. Which would you choose?
I’ve never used the Masterbuilt so I cannot give you an honest answer unfortunately.
holy holy holy, 4:21 seconds and he was still blowing smoke. see ya.
Bye ✌️
