I have to pay 268 dollars in student debt each month, 97 of them come form Patreon, help me get the rest (please): / highlyentropicmind
I am a degreed mechanical engineer. I was the sole evening janitor, 3 pm to 11 pm at a 150 bed hospital in the big 12 college town I attended. None of my college profs knew I was working 40 hours a week while completing my engineering degree, it was not relevant.
I felt a lot of closeness to the janitor on scrubs. I rarely told people at work in the hospital I was working on completing an engineering degree, it was not relevant to me being the janitor.
I had a very successful 42 years as an engineer and also appreciate greatly my time as the evening hospital janitor for 4 years to complete the last 2.5 years of my degree.
I never told my engineering company coworkers how I completed my degree because it was not relevant to my engineering career.
the janitors web of lies is the perfect compliment to the unreliable narrator JD is with his fantasies. all the main characters in this show are entirely dysfunctional and only operate well as a team. coming here to learn about phyrexian language analysis and suddenly seeing a dissection of my favorite show ever, janitor is my favorite character only tied with dr. cox. and its because they both hate jd as a person but respect his competence and value as a "sensie" and a doctor. instant subscribe my dude
I remembered I cried when he married his love. I just felt connected to all the hurt he showed when being grateful for just being loved.
Came for the phyrexian language, gained even more interesting stuff, so I worked in hospitals for 7 years and after watching scrubs before the hospital I have build strong relationships with porters, domestic cleaners and anyone else who was not "core staff" at the time I worked there, I had better relationships and great gossips lines, no one gives a f**k about the cleaner just cleaning the ward when something bigger was happening and they were listening. Value your staff at all levels. Like seriously. This was an amazing video! thanks! :)
These comments help me more than therapy
the writers of the show should make a reaction video to that. those are the reaction videos I would watch: artists reacting to people interpreting their work.
Man it makes me feel so good to know others love this series like I do, sometimes I think I'm looking too far into a show that most people just call silly. It's a true classic, and it deserves to be talked about more.
I remember hearing that there was going to be a twist in season 1 where we learn that The Janitor didn't actually exist. He was just another daydream of J.D. that was part of the fantasy he was using to navigate the stresses of his life. But Neil Flynn added so much to the show that they made him a permanent part of it.
Within the context of the show The Janitor plays the part of a jester or trickster. Uplifting the meek and humbling the powerful. One of the scenes I love most was when Cox and Kelso were standing with the patient who had the personality disorder which caused him to mirror the person he perceived as the most important. To see who had the aura of the one in charge. At which point the patient sarcastically dismisses both of them as the scene pans out to reveal The Janitor behind them.
(Disclaimer: it's been a long while since I've watched Scrubs, so the show as it exists in my memory may differ dramatically from how it exists in reality. (Though I like to think I've captured the essence of the scene nonetheless.))
Great vid. Have to go watch some Scrubs now.
Great Show, great Video!
