I really loved this show as a kid. Really wish it succeeded so we got more seasons and especially toys. It was basically a hybrid of power rangers, the mummy and that one animated mighty ducks tv show that also failed quickly.
I never watched this show but, a couple of my favorites as a kid also had only a single short season. Battletech and Wing Commander Academy. Battletech ended on a cliffhanger so it would be nice to have seen more seasons made.
I've always liked this show as a kid, but sadly never got to watch most of it. Now as an adult, I can't believe how good this show was back then. The characters, the lore, the animation quality... Everything is amazing! Thank you so much for uploading this! Now I have the time and resources to watch all of the episodes.
@@DiggitySlice Go away, racist. Use your brain before saying something so stupid next time. It's a show based in Egypt. Therefore, Egyptian actors would make sense. Armon is the only one who didnt had a love interest during his life Ja-kal had Tia Rath had Chantra And Nefertina had that boy from eye of the beholder episode
Technically, Nefertina and Qena were only described as friends. And while we dont have a direct name for Armon's love interest, he did say in episode 6 that his had girlfriends "like Anubis has fleas", which implies he had at least a couple
The way I Head cannoned it... he would have turned out have been a decedent of Ja-Kal (through his son) as well as the Pharaoh. he always treated Presley in a fatherly way and it would tie things together Nicely.
I haven't seen this show in a long time. The animation style is surprisingly on the level of GI Joe: The Movie. Yeah, I could easily tell that this show was outsourced to a Japanese animation studio, but that doesn't really matter. In fact, it adds a specific quality to it that a lot of shows lack. I kind of miss character designs and animation like this.
I never caught this when I originally watched this show; but when Arakh gets involved with the battle to execute the prince he already has his scorpion armor. I pretty much guessed that Scarab somehow hooked him up with it to make dealing with the 4 guardians an easier task considering otherwise it'd just be Arakh and an army of Shabti. What I don't get is; why is his skin gray like he's already been mummified for however long it was in the series? Is it an animation error or is this implying that the gray effect comes with the magical transformation?
Nothing has been confirmed. I personally believe it was an animation error, due to the model sheet having the same colors. However, I like to think that Scarab had to mummify Arakh, so that he gained access to his powers. In "Another Mummy in Town", when Nefertina and Armon find out Kimas is a mummy too, they find it obvious that he also has armor, therefore it cam be assumed that being a mummy = having armor. It also makes Arakh's and Scarab's partnership all the more unique, as Arakh literally trusted Scarab to kill him, and then bring him back to life.
@@mummiesalivefanaccount1525 Animation error would be the simplest answer, I agree. That said; I do like your theory. I could easily see Arakh being depraved and obsessed enough to die for the sake of gaining the power to finally beat Ja-Kal; though that would then open up the question of why Amenhotep even bothered having him put in a sarcophagus and didn't just burn Arakh's body to avenge the loss of his son and his guardians. They clearly wanted to forget about him by denying him a name in death, he was presumably dead and his soul cursed, did his body really need/deserve to stick around? Especially with Amenhotep knowing that Scarab was still alive within his own tomb.

I'm curious. What year was this cartoon released as opposed to Yugi-Oh: King Of Games, a manga that deals with Egyptian history and intrigue as well? I wonder if somebody ripped off the other?
It was released in 1997, and started production in 96. It was created after a head of DiC entertainment saw the recent fascination kids had with mummies and Egyptian mythology (it was the 90s) when he visited a museum

Actually, women in ancient Egypt can divorce, work, own land and even run their own businesses to name a few. So I doubt Nefertina would be barred to be chariot driver. If that was a real job. Also chariots had no wheels. They had skids because sand. Ancient Egyptians never used wheels. Not much use with all the sand
i always thought this cartoon was cool... BUT STILL TO THIS DAY I ASK: "Why are the characters WHITE?" this isn't historically accurate at all. we all know that at the VERY LEAST, the hot sahara sun would have everybody's skin TANNED. even as a kid, this urked me seriously. 🤔🤐
They are not white, especially compared to actual white characters in the show, they are tanned. Ancient Egyptian themselves werent either completely white, neither completely black. Seth Kearlsey, the producer of the series, actually wanted to make that very clear. According to him, the bigger executives at DiC originally wanted to make the main protagonist, Presley, white, but he fought to make him AT LEAST half Egyptian, as it made most sense, something he managed to do in the end. The only REAL white Egyptian here, could be Scarab and Nefertina. Scarab I dont have much of an explanation on, outside of simply "evil old man" but Nefertina had to cover her body in order to not reveal that she was a woman, something her design mirrors in comparison to other characters, thus providing an explanation for her lighter skin color.
If you watch the episode _Sleepwalk like an Eygption_ all the mummies had tan,/olive skin when they were alive. Only Scarub and Ja-kal's son Padjet are shown white ( I don't get it who Ja-Kal and Tia have a white baby with light brown hair 😅)

As a child of the late 80s and early 90s, I always wondered if Scarab and Mum-Ra ever crossed paths.😅
That is the crossover I've wanted since they rebooted he-man (1st one not Kevin Smith's) and introduced that snake god villain.
