When Nelly Miricioiu fled the repressive regime of her native Romania in 1981 to settle in Britain, it launched an international career that has seen her acclaimed as one of the greatest exponents of bel canto singing in our time. In this masterclass, she works with students from the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Nelly rocks...she knows her stuff...and rightfully so...Opera singers have to give so much more than we realize. Fascinating.

What an amazing coach....so extraordinarily musical and how she pulls it out of the young singers!

What an absolutely riveting class. It starts with music for a grand dame, and Nelly Miricioiu nearly manages to turn her marvellous student Georgia Mae Ellis into the grand dame she herself is.

The young soprano who sang Gilda seemed a little miscast for that aria and perhaps role. It seems as if she sang correctly that she'd be a fuller lyric voice or more and that Gilda would fatigue her. She has a lovely voice, though. 😊 the Romanian soprano had the most beautiful and exciting voice. Just gorgeous

Poor Gilda has no clue what she is singing about. She doesn't speak Italian and she has not bothered to look up every single word. Musically... oy vey.
