On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

So in the video when I say we are using the "EQ" variant what I mean is that we are in the Iraqi Mirage F-1 with the Mod that is posted in the video description allowing us to use the super 530 fox-1 missile we've come as close as we can to the 1980s Iraqi Mirage F-1 EQs. Well, to my knowledge, GS is the DCS channel with the most subs. Besides some bigger channels who’ve made a DCS video or two.

Hearing you talk about the primitive radars and the older planes really puts into perspective how much more dangerous and skillful it was to be a pilot back then
Pilots used to be genuine gigachads back in the day. Took real courage to fly those deathtraps.
Not saying that modern pilots aren’t courageous, of course, but they’re not quite the same.
Early WW2 pilots had a life esperancy on the Battlefield of around 10 hours if I am not mistaken.

Great stuff, as always. Request: use the "missile view" sometimes, during track replays. And IIRC there are two types of missile view you can toggle between, or something like that.
Gives a sense of how fast they are moving in the final seconds before the hit.

Hey GS I think you might find it alil easier to dogfight in the Mirage F1 if you used the combat flaps. The combat flaps allow you to pull high aoa without any buffeting. When I use the Combat flaps I can pull 21 degrees aoa.
Would love to see a long range (like 200+nm) engagement between the F-14 and F-15. Like, what tactics would be employed in finding and engaging an enemy fighter that is in an unknown location. Something like clearing the sky of an enemy aircraft patrolling over a ground target so the attack craft coming in would have a clear shot.
I loved your Cat vs Foxhound vid from a few weeks ago and it made me wonder how the Cat would fare against the Eagle
wouldnt really be fair because the tomcat has 2 distinct advantages. 1. It has datalink, and a much more powerful radar + jester to aid with finding bandits. 2. the phoenix missiles have a much further range.

TBF Iraq couldn't really hope for anything better, not until the MiG-29 was cleared in 1988 for export, and even they didn't get R-27T's and R-73's.
Mirages are like the wildcard of the fighter jets, either they are on your side or are from the enemy side

NGL the Mirage F1 looks sick. I like the interior too, has a very star wars kind of vibe to it.
The TF hotas is not bad (I have one myself) ; but is one button short on the throttle (modifiers) of being really good for dcs.

Mirage got ROSE upgrade from Pakistan, it was quite the upgrade for this little jet, still being used for Land attcks
The F-1 reminds me of the F-11 Tiger...or at least what a 5 yr old kid watching the Blue Angels tv program thought a F-11 could do (I was impressed as an adult when I found out an F-11 managed to shoot itself down using it's own gun).

Great battle!! I saw you were using your mouse as well. My cousin let me borrow his VR, and I’m still very new to DCS. To point of I can’t seem to get past the training🤣🤣. I have a very basic thrustmaster(PS4 version) without peddles. Any tips or easier things to do for the mouse or keybinds?

Seems like a good tactic when up against superior radar and electronics is to fly at treetop level and hope to get close enough to nullify his range advantage. Only drawback is you might run into something or get shot down by small-arms fire.
Treetop doesn't really save you from modern radars though. He can just go high and out range you.
At about 10:20 you said you were going to try and find him on radar. He was there if I am reading it right. Unfortunately, it looks like he was right by or even under where the cursor was sitting (if I am understanding the symbology correctly). It's easy for me to look at that, much harder when you're actually trying to not hit the ground, not get killed, and actually track the enemy, LOL.

It's a bid sad that the Mirage 2000C got retired june 23th 2022 in the French Airforce. However they didn't deem the airframe to be able to contain another upgrade in electronics/avionics and weapon systems like e.g the F16 or MiG29 airframe. That delta wing will be missed. Instead it will all be about the Mirage Rafale in the French Airforce.
They still operate the Mirage 2000-5F and Mirage 2000D I believe.

The F1 comes with the Super 530Fs which are smaller than the 530Ds

BVR engagements are always my videos. This one was so different because the ranges were so short that it’s only a volley and we are in fox two range. Please more fox one fights. Staying within the gimbal gives a nice different spin then always fire and forget. Great videos awesome channel thanks man
