I bought one this week, and I'm very satisfied.
Although I have a 100 MHz Tektronix analog "old school" o'scope, I'd want try a DSO. I'm really impressed about the specs and performance.

I bought and am using this oscilloscope you reviewed. I use it mainly for measuring power supply waveforms, and I think it is a very good product because it does not accidentally cause ground short. I know that there is no cheap and good product, but if it has such a variety of functions at this price, I recommend buying it. Appreciate your review 😊

They say in the manual that if you use both channels then rhe sampling frequency it's half.
I also think that turning off the function generator will prevent interfering with the measurements. It seems that yours was on during the test as it shows the square wave in the bottom right corner.

    • @TechCornerTV

HI, that happens in every oscilloscope. For example my Rigol MSO2102A has 2GSa/s on one channel and 1GSa/e if you're using both channels. The same happens for my awesome Micsig STO1004 has 1GSa/s on 1 channel, 500MSa/s when using on 2 channels and 250MSa/s if using 3 or 4 channels. I hope that helped to clarify the part of the sampling rate, normally the maximum sampling rate is only for 1 channel. The part of the function generator I didn't know, so I might do some videos in the future to see if that confirms, thanks for the tip, I'll check that out in a future video. Thanks for watching!

Nice review! While I don't think this instrument reaches the promised bandwidth, the manual specifies that for >100Mhz you need to run the oscilloscope in "overclock" mode, which is activated from the" Aux" menu by holding the "UP" key (it can be disabled similarly, with the DOWN) button. That makes the oscilloscope somewhat able to sample the signal, but the attenuation remains pretty bad. Enabling the second channel effectively halves the bandwidth because the sample rate is shared.
Having said that, oscilloscopes of this size normally don't have such a high bandwidth to begin with. Let alone with 2 channels plus function generator and TV output. Considering the features and price, the usable bandwidth (even if not as advertised) is pretty good.

Hi, I normally try to compare oranges with oranges, even if the orange tastes a bit like apple 😁 meaning, compared with the other units in this price range in the market, this one is one of the best, the only competition (in this price range +/-) is the FNIRSI DPOX180H, also a very fine unit. That said, this doesn't mean that the specs will be 100% met, but, comparing the all bunch, is one of the best. Thanks for watching.

Do you think it’s still worth buying the new FNIRSI DPOX180H if you already have this DSO2512G? With this DSO2512G everything seems to be working properly, and I bought it but now I’m wondering if I should upgrade to the new DPOX180H because it includes better bandwidth, better resolution, possibly a better screen, and also color temperature. Hello thanks for the review, I found your channel after I purchased this unit. I am a retired mechanic and service my own cars, being cars are getting crazy difficult to diagnose I figured with CAN and all the electronics like speedometers I can generate a signal to cluster to see if there is function, and at the same time look at the signal that goes to cluster if it is digital and if it looks good. A volt meter I don't think will cut it. I am hoping I made the right choice and some of your testing cast a shadow of doubt on this purchase. While I am going to teach myself on this for future use I hope I really do not have to use it, but at least in my mind I should be able to determine a waveform if it is good or bad. I didn't measure the time to charge the battery, but normally is between 1 and 3 hours, the charger is also important in this. Thanks for watching!

you will wish you had the two channels of the 2512. the battery takes a while to charge but it is a high capacity large flat battery fixed inside the case cover and lasts many hours. also should be easily replaceable if ever needed. charges with phone charger and usb-c. there aren't any bugs that i've found and i've used it a lot. but there are things like measurement functions on 2 will display but not work unless at least one measurement function on chan 1 is enabled. there are one or two other things like that but all can be worked around. very fun to use scope. latest ver has 2nd functions printed on case like a calculator to help remember them

Hi, one fo this days I was watching Dave from EEVBlog and he said something rigth "on the mouche", he was talking about the DSO-TC2 but said that the manufactures should worry about making this works correctly instead of having a lot of functions, I tend to agree with this, a test equipment, first of all should be accurate, because... you're testing stuff! Those small devices tend to be not very reliable. But I see things from another angle, this equipment for me, is for people learning, students, etc, with a limited budget. Professionals, usually spend a few more bucks for something more reliable. For that kind of audience (hobbyist and students) this device is interesting. Owon, for me starts to be more professional. So you get what you pay, want better quality, need to pay more. Even so this a very interesting device. Liked very much. Thanks for watching! 👍

In overclocking mode the DSO2512G can measure up to 120MHz (Hardware:v9.14 / Firmware:v1.2.8C).

However, is there a chance you know why I can't test a negative half wave rectifier? The FNIRSI DPOX180H simply costs $50 to $60 more than the DSO2512G. That's quite a difference in this price range.
Personally, I would hold off on the DPOX180H.

@@paolotestarelli2768 Really appreciate your reply, thanks for that. I am looking for a the best cost/benefit solution and that is still not prohibitively expensive (for me). The price of DPOX180H (at face value) seems to bring the best bang for the buck and it is on the limit I am willing to pay. I don't mind bugs now, as long as I can patch them later. However, I do agree that I may not be the best candidate for early adoption, but I do want something sooner rather than later, and I do not want to buy any other oscilloscope for the foreseeable future. What attracted my attention to it was:
1 - High range (although I don't have independent validation, they seem to deliver what they promise)
      2 - Portable
      3 - Dual channel
      4 - Signal generation
Spec-wise my only point of attention, which I am not savvy enough to determine, is whether the sampling rate may be too low. I suspect it may be the case.
Nevertheless, I appreciate your recommendation and will not buy this one yet. So I either wait more (which I hope not too long) or I manage to find something that fulfill my requirements above and is a safer alternate at similar price range.

I can set up a 23m path difference but haven't done it yet because I'm not sure exactly what circuit will give the best possible signal (after triggering, etc). @@user-io3yy9vp9nThe device comes with two P6100, which is OK for the price. However, it is also clear that 100MHz probes are not sufficient to test the limits of a 120MHz oscilloscope. By definition, 100MHz probes already have -3dB at 100MHz. I ordered a 250MHz probe for this reason. This also makes a difference with a 40MHz square-wave signal, which can hardly be distinguished from a sine wave with the standard probes. A ground spring can also be helpful.

This review was useless for me. I was interested to see square waveforms in different frequency ranges (MHz).☹

Hello! Sorry for late reply, house move and vacations. I'll try to keep in mind to test the new devices with the square wave also. Spoiler alert, I have a new Zeeweii oscilloscope to be delivered in the next days, so you can count with a new Zeeweii device review pretty soon. Thanks for your comment and for watching!

With 500ms it's not able to digitize 100 Mhz. DSO for 100Mhz have a sample rate about 1 GS .

Hi, don't agree with you. For me those screens are quite small, the idea of the AV is also giving you the chance of better using the oscilloscope in a desktop environment. Not perfect, but it is an option. Thanks for watching!
