My childhood without this is nothing 💜still miss this time with my siblings playing after school and all day long on the weekends😌MORTAL KOMBAT should be included in the list, one of the iconic games of 90's era and my fav.
Mortal Kombat II is on the list, which is far superior to the original Mortal Kombat.

Best game for me: Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure, i used to play as kid... those were the happiest moments of my life !!!

Paul Tincher playing with them is not the same thing. The d-pad sucks when it comes to Sefa games. And with button placement it’s as awkward as hell to play on nes or SNES mini
I can remember playing many of these games for hours and hours back in the day. I always remember how they were so colourful and vibrant. They didn’t have much to work with in comparison with modern technology, so they tended to go more for fun and unique characters and colourful art styles.

Aladdin, Comix Zone and Earthworm Jim are good, but Ecco? Couldn't get past the first level. But I'm sure the game has its fans and actually like the game. More power to them.
@@jamiecletheroe2593 both Ecco games are a masterpiece. The one you are refering is probably the first one since is hard for people to figure what to do in the first level. "How high you can fly in the sky" means you have to jump out of the water. And the real game begins.
@@milesr4609 What I meant was I didn't play it past the first level. I hear it's a bit of a tough game unless someone has the patience. Btw, am I the only one who thinks Ecco should get a new game as well as his own possible movie/TV show? If they could do it with their most famous and popular character Sonic the Hedgehog, why not this along with other Sega characters/franchises?
@@jamiecletheroe2593 i wasnt being mean. Just explaining how to pass that first level 😂 The game is a lttle bit like a puzzle/rpg besides being an adventure (an epic one if you manage to finish both games), indeed it require patience, but is very rewarding for those who have it.
About a new game, a big yes, or at least a remaster of Defender of the future, ill preorder it day 1.
A movie, i dont know, it could be dificult to make, because if it is animated (live action is out of the question) it would have to be "toned down" for mainstream audiences and kids, with moronic jokes and all, otherwise i dont think people would understand it since Ecco story is more like a Michael Crichton novel (with elements from Alien and Sci fi) than a kids game.
@@milesr4609 Of course, they would "tone it down" and make Ecco more kid-friendly. But hey, if done right, it could have some great shots of the sea above and under. Maybe they'll try to have little dialogue and have Ecco and his pod just use their expressions (but knowing movie studios, they would get certain celebrities to voice the characters). I couldn't choose whether to make it live action or animated (leaning towards animated).

The fact that Herzog Zwei is so high on this list makes me happy.
I played or at least I know a lot of this 100. There are a lot of games and, even if I never completed a lot of them -i never was very good at videogames tbh, and less when I was a children-, it was nice to see them again. I really love that my favourite games are in the TOP 3! I missed Home Alone.

love watching these vids hoping to recognize something about the 5 seconds or so per game and then looking it up.
I played at least 30 of these games. My life consisted of late 80's early 90's Cartoons, Hip-Hop, BBQ's, and a whole lot of Sega.
I remember playing sonic, shinobi, street fighter, streets of rage, contra & road rash on sega genesis. There are games i also played missing here: jurassic park, terminator & michael jackson's moonwalker.
I loved seen Cruzader of Centry made it on this list. So underrated game. But still think that there are way to many shoot em up games on this lists, and a lot of classics and gems that didn't made it.
I remember putting HOURS into ToeJam and Earl and never really knowing what I was doing

Found an old Sega Genesis at a freaking Dollar Store. Obviously bought it; obviously played it because we never got rid of our games; obviously lost, a lot. Some of those games were way harder than I remember...

@Seno rac Sonic 3 is the best, but 2 has aged better than 1 in many ways. 1 doesn’t have the charged spindash, and Labyrinth and Marble zone are both really slow. Sonic 2 has more zones and better special stages, along with Tails and multiplayer. The level design in 2 is arguably the best of all 3 games, hence why some people actually like it more than Sonic 3. Sonic 1 was revolutionary for its time, but 2 did what a proper sequel is supposed to do, expand on it in every way

@@danielcogan8205 Sure Sonic 3 & Knuckles is my favourite, but I agree Sonic 2 is a great sequel to the original game. Sonic 1 laid the groundwork, Sonic 2 made improvements with just a few tweaks to the gameplay.

Bonanza Brothers, Altered Beast and Cannon Fodder I would add. A good few games in there I've not heard of but also a few that feature on the SNES and are arguably better versions. Gotta love the sound of the Genesis though. Dirty stabby 90's dance goodness.

I was worried when Marvel Land showed up on this list, but having Landstalker in the top 5 makes this a top 100 list akin to my own. 'Stalker is the most underrated Genesis title of all time and one I spent months on as a kid before the internet was a household utility. Damn that Greenmaze!!!

Played a few Mega Drive games via compilations on the PS2. Love the Sonic the Hedgehog games (Sonic 3 & Knuckles is my fave) as well as Streets of Rage 1 and 2, Shinobi 3, Comix Zone and Vectorman 1 and 2. Pretty good list of the best Mega Drive games.
Always surprised to Herzog Zwei on anyone's list. It will always be my favorite Genesis game. Far ahead of its time, I was so lucky a friend had it back in '89 because I probably would have never seen or played it.

Man I absolutely loved my Genesis system. I would spend countless hours enjoying the many great wonderful video games that Sega had offered us. High quality and more expensive than other games at the time. Buying a Genesis game was an investment in enjoyment. As I recall their games were also extremely challenging and strategic. Hail to the good ol days. Long live Genesis!
We used to visit a rented shop for playing games every Sunday at the cost of INR 10 ! We used to play WWF and Mortal Combat the most. Most Indians in Tier 3 cities couldn't afford SEGA games. Good old days.

As a kid, I had Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Aladdin, Mortal Kombat 2, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ecco: The Tides of Time, Streets of Rage 2, Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition, and Sonic 3 and Knuckles, among other games. How could you leave out Super Street Fighter 2? It was my favorite Genesis game ever.

@@Jason_Van_Stone No. It was originally Arcade, And the NES version is different, it has more levels. It's not a direct port of the arcade port contrary to the Genesis / Megadrive version.
Daniel DeVito I love your comment . I just bought a SEGA MEGADRIVE/GENESIS Flashback. And it’s amazing. 2 wireless controllers and 85 games. We’ve been playing Altered Beast on 2 player mode every night lol. You only get 3 credits each tho.
I played hundreds of games on Sega. I had a huge box full of them and the fact that AB was left out while half this list gets in is a joke. Same with Alien Storm

Buy a Mega Everdrive X3, X5 or X7 and you're set for life! Go for an original from Krikzz and ignore the chinese clones, they break down very easily... I have a X5 and it's the best purchase I ever made!

Sega is the best, truly folk console, better than snes. Inexpensive games, understandable architecture, fast fps, amazing sound, a huge library of games, all known genres, the presence of serious adult projects and, of course, a corporate logo that no one else has!
