And, they would often also have TWO managers, leads in charge. There was a clear hierarchy and displayed leadership, and never bitter negative vibes unlike today.

What caused mcdonald's decline in quality is in my opinion couple things 1 they franchised out all their restaurants and second workforce quality has declined. If you look at employees in these older videos compared to today you can see it its went from clean cut courteous employees to slouchy looking employees who dont give a dern about the customer. Then again society has declined over all since 1990.
McDonald's fries were their competitive advantage and yet they still changed the recipe. They used to be cooked in beef tallow and tasted incredibly delicious. Now their fries taste like the bottom of a shoe.
@@miltonbates6425 u are correct about the beef talon but fries alone isn't their demise its the work force at most mcdonald's. I travel all over America from big cities to small town usa and when u run across a mcd in small rural areas where the employees are just down to earth suburban people the food is usually way better and restaurants way cleaner.
@@miltonbates6425 The problem is that Americans stopped buying tallow and replaced it with Butter also tallow has other issues, it has Trans Fats which people see as unhealthy today and it would need to be cleaned out after every round in the frier or it would stink and smell so bad you have no idea and you can't have that in a restaurant so they switched to Vegetable oil like all restaurants. You can't find a single restaurant that uses tallow anymore, even in grocery stores it is very hard to find mostly in old timer stores or some Asian grocery stores but very rare.

My daughters besty became a manager in the 90"s in Australia after working after school for years. It was a sought after job because the training was so thorough. It was like the best reference you could possibly have for future jobs at the time. It's all apps, touch screens and drive throughs now. No human interaction whatsoever apart from handing a bag through a window. The buzzing family restaurant vibe was killed with the 2021 lockdowns and was never brought back again. RIP family memories.
So much has changed since the lockdowns here in Australia, people have become a lot more irritable. When I was grabbing my daily coffee, someone was throwing a tantrum over nothing. Even just before Covid in very early 2020 the staff at the McDonald's store used to ask how I was most mornings, in the past year it has been very rare, those staff members are now all gone.

PAR cash registers. Very popular in the 80s and 90s at McDonalds. For some locations this would be the second generation of electronic cash registers. In the 70s some locations had GTE Comp-acct registers, while others still used paper and older Sweda mechanical registers. I miss McDonalds of this era. Heck, I miss this era completely, other than the smoking in restaurants. I don’t miss that.
Mental health has declined since then, but it's not just because of cell phones and social media, I think it has to do a lot because of lower salaries and people being unable to afford a house. People today feel stressed and in a neverending rush because they don't really feel confident on affording a normal life. You have to question yourself how come even though we have progressed a lot in industry, processes and such, we effectively can't afford anything. Where is that productivity going? Food for thought.

Yes, 1990 a time when you could go to McDonald's without worrying about a " Karen" turning McDonald's into the WWE and Jerry Springer.
I think you mean a Keisha. Black Karen's are Keisha's. They are quite dangerous in McDonalds.
Yeeeees! Now, McDonald's hires rude employees. A lot of customers are rude too. There are too many "Karen's."
@@AntiMasonic93 It's not gonna be that way forever. "Karen's" and their male counterparts will be eradicated for good.
rip to Springer btw...
@@magamaga1827No it’s old *White* Karen who’s majority of the problems in modern day restaurants, there’s a new upload almost every other minute involving Karen. Now if you would have said *Waffle House* then you would have had a little argument. But you’re just showing your little tendencies that’s really hard for you to hide lol 😂
It's like going back in a time capsule. In the 90's you can see people were alot happier had a smile got along with each other really took pride in their work. Even though the 90's had it's own problems. But the 90's felt happier it was the people in the 90's that made the 90's so great and happier. I wonder where are those people now.
60+ and retired!
Paid $14 dollars for Filet-O-Fish meal and a McChicken the other day...
That's a shame ! It's too expensive now!
Theyre not even whole pieces of fish. I tried one for thr first time the other day. I was shocked at how small the fish wash. I complained and got another sandwich. They were both average. Never again.
Fourteen dollars dollars?!
That's twentyeight bucks!
Good one. It should only be $14, not "$14 dollars." LOL!
7.99 for a happy meal for my kid...the "toy" that came with it was a small book. Wtf lol
Back when you got bigger burgers and portions for way less money.
And it tasted way better than the shit they serve today
@@JohnWick-hl3ir YUP!! I don't even eat McDonald's or Burger King no more
The fish filets were great ! Cherry pies ! In late 70’s my mom could give me 5 bucks and we all got lunch her myself and my sister Good days
I was in 5th grade and remember the yellow and brown labeling on the cups, life was so much better than.
I liked it when you could tell also WHO was the manager, they wore that white shirt with a tie, so if you had a question, suggestion, feedback, etc. you know who to go to instead of asking and then getting vague, evasive, lost... replies. And, they would often also have TWO managers, leads in charge. There was a clear hierarchy and displayed leadership, and never bitter negative vibes unlike today.
I was working at McDonald’s in 1990. Brings back memories. Where’s that McDLT?
I think maybe we didn't realize how good times were
Back when one was excited about mcds!! When mchicken didn't taste like rubber
Most everyone in this McDonald's were thin. Friendly staff and respectful customers. Now literally every time I walk into a McDonald's I see young uncaring rude employees cursing and looking slovenly. I was 15 years old in 1990.
I always had a weight problem. I was 26 in 1990.
@@caroleeb1997 Well that wasn't the case for most people back then like it is now.
Why is this so comforting to watch
I somewhat remember those older Big Mac packagings Man I wish they still used them.
Seeing this brings back so many fond memories! How the food was much cheaper and it seemed like the food tasted better lol. I'll never forget the designs of the packaging . Wow! Thank god for youtube! ❤
Wow! I was only 9 years ago back in 1990. I sure miss those times.
Back when McDonalds had customer service and good food and people were much nicer!
Ponchoman49 Food wasn't poison and didn't make you sick either. Just junk food
Love your videos.. best moments in were in the 90s and 80s
Thank you 😃
Not a debit or tap machine to be seen ...cash was King 🤴
yeah getting mugged was way more fun back then too lol
Absolutely, cash money was king at the time.
WTF Is a tap machine?
No broken or rigged ass card machines In sight
I'm probably in the minority, but I love the big tap debit machine because with having profound hearing loss, I don't have to communicate with anyone and am able to order my food in peace now. For years I avoided fast food places until they brought these machines in and now i'm in heaven! Same with self checkouts in the grocery stores. These self order machines have been God sends for people like us.
Remember how unbelievably good McyDs was in the early 90s and how untouchable their cookies use to be
And cheese danishes in the morning!
@@milfordcivic6755 Cheese Danish???? In all my years and all the McDonalds I ever visited were never went to one that had cheese Danish’s 😂😂 I need to know what McDonald’s you went too
*YYYYASSS.*
You can't find a single restaurant that uses tallow anymore, even in grocery stores it is very hard to find mostly in old timer stores or some Asian grocery stores but very rare.
brings back a lot of memories when I was a kid my mom take me to McDonald's every day after school. Thank you MOM... RIP
Wow Wow Wow it’s really a small world after all 😂 I am in the Philippines and this video popped up in my recommended…I use to work at this Mc Donald’s in 1987 it’s located at 441 and Taft street to be exact! I know all the cashiers and managers in this VIDEO!!!😂😂😂
Hollywood, Florida
I live about 50 mins north, in Palm Beach.. I just googled and don't see any Mcdonalds at that intersection anywhere.. Either it's gone or it's somewhere near there..
I don’t eat mc Donalds, but you can clearly see this was the best packaging and logo and uniform you ever had, which helps sales massively. It’s not just about making your places look sterile v
Remember the lava hot, apple pies? They were deep fried, but not anymore. Speaking of deep fried, the fries were better because they used beef tallow when they cooked them, again, not anymore, the taste is no where near as good.
Julia Child remarked on the fries, she loved them when they were fried with Beef tallow..
They were so good.
The food was so much better back then. I remember those cookies as well.
Now you have to empty your bank account to take your family to McDonald’s
Was so much more organized and friendlier back then. Food was way better too.
Back when u was given a burger that was straight off the grill, and the food was in ur hand before the person on the till had even given ur change, its at least 10 minutes from order to when u get food now ,and its cold as it was cooked and been sitting in a hot tray for up to an hour
McDonald's back when you could get a lot of food 4 less then $10
Wow
The food looked more fresh
Definitely bigger portions. Less expensive
When they actually gave you the drinks
No self filling drinks
And I noticed no debit cards
A few credit cards. Mostly cash
People seemed nicer and more laid back. I miss the 1980s and early 90s
The fries were bigger and fresher! Nothing like today's...
Maybe because this video shows it…………..in reality crimes/depression were at it’s peak in the 1990’s.
Mcdonalds fries tasted way better then. I miss the 90's
Back when McDonald's fries were cooked in beef tallow and tasted incredibly delicious. Now their fries taste like the bottom of a shoe.
When they used real ingredients and the fries were actually good.
Back when McDonald's fries were cooked in beef tallow and tasted incredibly delicious. Now their fries taste like the bottom of a shoe.
Back when they had the McDLT. Wish McDonald's would bring that back.
There are so many awesome things McDonald's should bring back like the Mclobster...
@@vampirerobot I never heard of the McLobster. Must've been something popular in the northeastern region of the US. Now, what I don't mind is the McRib. They can criticize that all they want. I love that formed riblet patty. Yum!
@@MarkMeadows90 I agree with you about the McRib. Although it might be McDonald's one and only venture with a non animal, non plant all human product.

Back when their food was decent, cashiers were friendly and service was fast and accurate.

In 1990 I was 18. Wow. ...

I wasn't born yet. I was born 4 years later😆
I was 23 years old in 1990.
What I would give to go back to 1990.
I was 12. I miss the 1990's and I've always loved McDonald's 😊
Back when people put their heart in everything. Take me back starting at the year 1969, Woodstock festival.
I like this packaging of the food way better.good times.miss this era
It is funny how I forget about the packaging and seeing this brings it all back. I remember clearly the lawsuit about the hot spilled coffee. That is why we have warnings on the cups now.
Back when McDonald’s was a good place to work as a first job. You’ll learn to smile and good customer service.
Man those fries look good!!! I was 8 years old btw😊😊😊😊😊
YUP!!! Born ‘82 I’m Guessing?
Why does it bring such peace watching these?
The 90's we're glorious. Feed a family of 4 at McDonald's for $15 or less depending on the day of the week.
I don't know if it was everywhere but I have a strong memory of McDonald's back in the 90s when I was tiny doing a thing on like Tuesdays with cheeseburgers for 35 cents for like their basic b**** cheeseburger and Thursdays were like 35 cent hamburger day or something like (it was still dirt cheap regularly they were less than than dollar)
Idk if it was the times, or because I was so much younger back then, everything seemed so exciting lol. Great time capsule!
Dude got change back paying with 3 dollars for a meal .. you can’t even get a apple pie today for three dollars.. smh 😂😂
😂😂
😂😂 ON GOD $3 Would Get u A McChicken $1.49 or Barely Medium Sz 🍟 Both Items without *Taxes* GEEZ!!
The year, I was pregnant with my son who was a Halloween baby and loved McDonald’s Happy Meals why he loved cheese burgers, his sister who was born 5 yrs later a few days right before Easter, so, sometimes her birthday falls on Easter grew up loving McNuggets with barbecue sauce! I love mostly their Double Cheeseburgers but, then, again, I grew upon Burger Chef and, their double cheeseburgers were my favorite! I liked McDonald’s McNuggets with Hot Mustard but, once, I seen how their made, I about can’t do them no more! Back in the 90s McDonald’s ice cream machines were always working not like the constant issue of today! 2 things McDonalds needs to bring back is the Artic Shakes/ Orange from the 70s, Coke Floats from the early 90s and, Caramel Milk Shakes 2011, The Daily Double was still from around that time, and, that’s one sandwich they could bring back!
I worked at McDonald’s from 90 to 92. Same exact setup as this McDonald’s in the video. I was 17 years old and just moved to America. WoW.
Yea
Old is Gold.
People were more cool n respectful with each other
In reality Humanity has lost since 2000.
Flashback in the early 2020's
The head cashier lady is nice looking.
5:25 I remember that Happy Meal toy. It was King Louie from The Jungle Book. His arms rotated 360 degrees above his head and below his feet to propel him forward, after winding him up.
If the cashier is wearing gold, you know your economy is doing well.
This was a time of pure simplicity ❤ i remember those long spoons that you would stir your soda but somehow people used it for other purposes and removed them😳
These jobs deserve more pay. I worked in fast food in the 80s as a teen and remember being so exhausted after 8 hr shift. But Seeing others enjoying themselves made me happy
