      Besides there's no market for Dex as you'd be better off with a laptop anyway (like a Chromebook). The ability to connect your phone to a TV is super niche when most people are just going to prefer taking a thin and light laptop.
      It's nice to have I suppose but ignored by most. I wouldn't add it as a deciding factor.
      Oxygen OS is more like the Pixel Launcher than OneUI. Oxygen OS is now the major reason someone would pick a OnePlus.

      @RoadRage810 Před 3 lety

      If you get it through T-Mobile in the US it has the IP68 rating. It is essentially the same phone, T-Mobile just decided the certification would help them sell more units. Not sure if the unlocked retail version comes with the typical OnePlus clear case but the T-Mobile version does not. Maybe that is where they made up the cost difference to keep it at $749.

      I'm not sure of their unlock procedure if you buy it outright from them. However according to inside sources, absolutely nothing is different with the unlocked and T-Mobile version other than T-Mobile wanted the certification. They are sealed the same. I have been a multi manufacturer certified repair tech for 24:years and honestly, the certification is meaningless. If you bring in a phone for repair and it has been wet, regardless of whether it is IP68 certified or not, your options are to buy a new one or file an insurance claim. No carrier or manufacturer will cover it under warranty for liquid damage anyway. As long as they tried to make it water resistant to some extent, then certified or not, you are getting the same answer if it gets liquid inside.

    I looked at both of these phones to see which one I should buy for a family member. They were previously on a OnePlus One (not a typo!) and was long due an upgrade. The Samsung S20 FE seemed to be the winner in my eyes (due to the support for SD card), but the price was too high for the 5G model (£699.99GBP (around $905USD)) and the ring around the front-camera looked distracting.
    The OnePlus 8T is sold in the United Kingdom for £549GBP, which is roughly $710USD. I opted to import the phone from China (via Oppomart) for $549USD (£424GBP), for a saving of £125GBP or around $162USD. That saving alone is enough to easily swing my purchase behaviour towards OnePlus even though I am not a fan of their new pricing structure.

    Who prefers wireless charging over "normal" charging? I can understand that wireless charging is somehow impressive but for me it is not practical.
    It is much slower and during wireless charging you can do nearly nothing besides hearing music or stuff like that. So the only scenario where I could imagine using it is when I'm sitting at my desk and using my computer. Because then I do not use my phone. When I "game" on my phone I use the cable and when I need battery life quickly I can get 60% in 10 minutes by using the cable.

Samsung is popular because they have a phone for every budget and their hardware is top notch. I recently made the jump to T-mobile from At&t where I could get the S20 FE for FREE, or 50% off the OnePlus 8T. I'm coming from using a Samsung S7 since launch 4yrs ago and I can quite honestly say, the Samsung UI experience is the reason why I am going to OnePlus. I was able to try some newer phones thanks to some friends with a OnePlus 7 and a Samsung S20, and overall I just hate how Samsung bloats the UI. It's littered with things that constantly need to be disabled. I don't use wireless charging so that doesn't matter to me. The 6gb of RAM vs 12gb of RAM was also a deciding factor. Coming from 4gb of RAM and for whatever reason, using up all of it thanks to Samsung's bloatware, (disabled as much as I could, still has issues) it was still flooded with nonsense causing my phone to be cripplingly slow. Multiple system restores and wipes didn't change a thing. Literally looks brand new and performs well up until a month or so where it all reoccurs again. I didn't experience a single problem with a OnePlus phone. It's incredibly smooth and there isn't some dumb notification or bloatware app that is annoying me every time I use the phone. I really am disappointed that the camera will not be a strong suit, but I don't intend to use my phone camera as my main photo/video source like many others do. The last thing is software updates and Android support. Samsung will eventually stop supporting updates and essentially force you to upgrade, whereas OnePlus phones to my knowledge support much newer versions of Android even older phones from 4+ yrs ago.

    I`m buying a new phone. This is why I`m here. I`m watching different reviews and trying to find out what phone is worth buying. I really don`t give a sh** about the good looking package (why would someone review a package that you THROW AWAY?). I need the phone to make tons of phone calls, emails, use special apps, it has to charge super fast, the brightness of the display must be superfine while using it outside, it shouldn`t freeze at ANY TIME, the phone is an extension of me. If I would want to make great photos I would buy a CAMERA and while working I always have it with me, because it ALWAYS makes better pictures than the phone! When I read your comments and when I see some really stupid reviews, my brain cells die.
    Thank you for being frank and super informative under 10 minutes. You brought some sense into this mess (releasing 100 phones per year and which one to choose). THANK YOU!

      The 256 GB Oneplus 8T costs £649 in the UK and the 128 GB Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G costs £699. I'd rather get the Galaxy S20 FE 5G and a 128 GB microsdcard for £15. Total cost £714. £64 extra for microsd card support, wireless charging and IP rating is definitely worth it IMO. Not to mention the better camera on the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. @@MrFelixDavies There's nothing wrong with Gorilla Glass 3. It's what I have on my Samsung Galaxy S8, and I've had no problems. Also, only the back is plastic, and plastic is more durable than gorilla glass.
