Having used other phones with in display speaker i feel Pixel 5 will probably be the worst.
The best should be Oneplus as , Samsung lot of times I've noticed uses cheap components within their phones to keep costs low for e.g their mid range phones don't even have haptics (or has to be enabled though tweaking n all)
Oneplus needs fan base strong hence puts in all they have got.

I found you were good to do a break down of the ''basic''/more common needs and show the difference (or not difference) of the phones. I found you were pretty neutural too, which I appreciate. I replaced OnePlus One with Moto G6 in 2019, now my Moto G6 started to fail and my OnePlus One still works. Reason I replaced is that One plus signal is not good due to lack of band support for been an international version. Now I am going to give Samsung a try instead. Due to how much I like to have storage expandable which G6 has, I can store there my documents, pictures, audio, videos etc without worrying about phone dying or having it's data corrupted which happened with my one plus one.
Is also easier to transfer files to PC.

It was a really hard choice but I went with the Galaxy s20 FE
Pixel 5 looked so good to me. Stock android is better (update, I really like One UI now), the camera quality is incredible. I don't think the FE even has auto-focus for the selfie cam right now. And I game on a PC/Xbox, not a phone. So the extra processing power wasn't compelling me.
But when I saw the S20 fe for $599, its super-amoled 120hz display, 3 years of updates, versatile rear cameras, great battery, all made a very compelling package for me to preorder.
I've customized the UI to be closer to a Pixel, have noticed great sound quality from the speakers, and I'm very happy with the beautiful display, rear pictures, and fast speeds for my daily tasks.
AND Samsung is giving me $70 to use towards Galaxy Buds. Despite my issues with Samsung in the past, they keep drawing me back in somehow.

Insightful video. I'm in the US and have been using my Note 8 since shortly after it dropped back in 2017. I wouldn't even be looking to replace it, but some issues have come up in the past few months. Random restarts, freezes and has to be manually restarted, battery lasting shorter and shorter between needing charging, etc. It's a nearly four year old phone and has treated me well. Been a Note fan since the Note 3.
Started looking into replacements. Don't use the S-Pen as much as I used to with prior Notes. I get a minimum of 2 years out of phones. I'd say the 8 has lasted me the longest since my Nokia brick in college. The Pixel, OnePlus 8, and S20 FE fit my needs. So thanks for the comparison and it gives me more food for thought as I decide.

1:09: Actually it bothered me when he said that the Galaxy S20 FE's Cloud Navy is the "less interesting" colour of the three. Surely tech reviewers prefer pastel coloured smartphones over the darker ones... I mean Cloud Navy is not a bad colour though it's for classicists people like me who prefers a darker colour which blends very well with any outfit. So personally I would take the Cloud Navy (Blue-Black) colour anytime of the year over an Aquamarine Green or a Sorta Sage Green with a weird cardboard feel on it. Cuz other than the Cloud Navy colour other S20 colours for me are either a bit too flashy or unappealing and "less interesting" such as the Cloud White one and the Cloud Mint one.

im going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Oneplus has had A LOT of changing. Most likely deriving from the change of top management. They want to change the company. OnePlus is often referred to as a small child company. They have got huge parent companies over them that are well aware OnePlus's name is up there especially since 2019 where in the US it has become very popular.
I think it will take time. I agree that OnePlus is trying to become a big company for mobile. Whether they will make changes for the better or not i have no idea but again, ill give them the benefit of the doubt. Idk what people really consider a bad year. But i think this year is ok. The 8T at $750 is still pretty good compared to competition. The S20 FE has some pretty significant flaws imo like the dim display, QA issues related to ghosting, seems samsung's optical FPR isn't quite as good as OnePlus etc etc. But people largely ignore this. So is samsung bad because of the note 20 , Galaxy s20 ultra price focus issues, and FE issues? No... i think they had some up and downs. So did oneplus.
My suggestion is be an informed buyer and post on oneplus subreddit or samsung subreddit or whichever brand. Don't be a karen and post bulllshit. Be informed, do your research, be objective or provide evidence or dont say anything....

Pixel's cameras have always come out on top due to the software. Monthly updates on the Pixel is nice as well. The video and mic does look and sound better on the Pixel 5 although the speakers are crap. The Pixel 4a 5g would be a better choice over the Pixel 5 although it is nice to have water resistance. Too much decisions on this one, but I'd have to say the S20 FE is the winner in my book.

The Google, on the other hand, specs are bad. Camera is good but not exceptional like Pixel cameras used to be. Software is good but not really worth the super bad specs. Screen is only 90hz.
Really if you care about the software and camera that much then get a Pixel 4a, the camera is almost as good and the software is the same and its half the price.

I’ve used an iPhone for the past decade and I’m gonna give an Android phone a try this year - price was no object but I chose the Pixel 5 because all I’ve read and seen indicate that Pixels offer the best Android software experience bar none. The idea of a phone preinstalled with bloat ware is anathema to me.

Hello! I am planning in switching from an old iPhone to a OnePlus 8. I’ve read a lot about the phone and I am generally really excited to switch. However, I have noticed a couple reviews indicating new OnePlus 8 users experienced issues with sending texts, receiving texts, and calls dropping. I figured this was related to their cell carrier but many of these reviewers mentioned they had never experienced issues like this with any other phones. I did want to ask if other people have experienced this issue with their OnePlus 8? Would it be better to order the phone directly from OnePlus’ website instead of buying it in store?

  • @Myk95

For me it would be the Pixel. I got tired of how long it takes Samsung to get updates out. (And that was back then they only did a few phones. Now they do so many I have no idea how they'll keep up with them all.) OnePlus recently announced deep undeleteable integration with Facebook on their phones. That's a big no thank you. So Pixel it is by process of ellimination.

One year later, but here is my take on the two phones I own: I used S20 Fe for an year and switched to 8T about 2 weeks ago:
S20 - very annoying fingerprint sensor as it did not recognize my print most of the time, auto correct was kind of irritating as well, good picture and video quality, frustrating OS at times.
8T- less sharp videos, nice haptics, volume controls, good photos, the fingerprint sensor works 99% of the time, no brutal autocorrect, easier to operate OS.
Overall I am happy switching to 8T.

I also initially had an FE but switched over to the 8T since I got one for free, and I agree with your sentiments. The FE is indeed better on paper and has a better camera, but the 8T is overall a nicer phone to use in the stuff that doesn't show up on the spec sheet. Better haptics, thermals, battery life, touch response, and smoother software.
