Some people make it with coconut yes, as I said in the video the choice of nuts is yours but it definitely has no cardamom or cinnamon, but again if you like to add them go ahead it will still taste delicious but not very Egyptian 😊 I hope you enjoyed your stay in Egypt 🙏🏻
I have tasted this dish in a five star hotel, we were looking for desert n I read this name above the dish, a lady told that it is very delicious as well as very healthy food health wise, I tasted it and it was really very delicious even I told to my colleagues there to try this desert it’s very tasty....
For those who can't find the bread and don't feel like baking, you can also make it with store puff pastry sheets, I'd even argue it's more delicious because it's thinner.
Thanks Yuzan for your help and comment, I mentioned in the video that people can always use croissants which is puff pastry but without the hassle of baking it 😊, I’m not sure if you tried it with rokak or not, but if not I would suggest you do, with rokak Is another level as you get the bite of the bread with you never get with puff pastry ❤️
@@culturewhisk6019 I've never tried it with rokak actually, I'll try to make it one day. My mother had always made it with puff pastry, the result is different from croissants because we bake the puff pastry to be thin and crispy (rokak like).
Puff pastry is the same dough that’s shaped to make croissants, it’s just instead of getting the dough bake it then cut it in small pieces you can just get some croissants and again cut it and continue with the recipe Please do try it with rokak it’s pretty simple and straight forward recipe and the outcome is outstanding, thank you so much for your time and feedback 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
I had this dessert at a hotel I was staying in Doha, one of the staff was showing me the dessert table and was very passionate about this particular one, as it was very traditional and comforting, he even told me the historic background and meaning behind the name of the dessert… I was worried when I decided to try it out, because I feared I wouldn’t like it, as Im a picky eater, unfortunately… but it is honestly one of the best things I tasted in my life! it was so good and I understood why the staff member was so passionate about this dish. It marked my stay in Doha and it’s why I ended up in this video, because now I know how it’s made and I can make it 🥰 thank you so much for such a great video
@@culturewhisk6019 in India, part of a large population’s staple diet is “roti”, which is basically a flat bread made with whole wheat kneaded with water and cooked on the stovetop, which would be a little similar to what you have made. Rabri is a sweet, thickened milk that you can make by cooking full cream milk for an extended period of time and then sweeten it with whatever sugars you want (and any additional flavours like cardamom, saffron etc) They basically mean they can make a shortcut version of this recipe by using roti instead rokak and the rabri instead of the milky mixture :)

Truly you madame you r so clever because you have baked the ميلفيه by yourself. Very well you have put some warm cow milk at the wheat flour then you have added Baking powder with a little bit of sugar to allow dough to be fermented
I love this dessert ate in Riyadh during a meeting. The story I heard was though different. About mother of Ali a poor family ..Ali brought his friends home. She had nothing to offer them ..then she cooked this dish which was very tasty and was named after her. Thanks for sharing. .my favourite dish. .yummy

Make this with some dried out left ovet croissants or left over brioche bread. Very easy and very similar to English bread and butter pudding.
