QANTAS A380 QF12 Economy Class - Los Angeles to Sydney, Row 88 All To Myself (Feb 2024) (4K)

- After a whirlwind trip over 6-7 days flying to DFW, then ATL, back to DFW, up to SEA, then SFO & back to LAX it was time to head home.
This QF12 A380-800 flight was operated by VH-OQH.
After returning my rental car, check in was quick, security quicker than normal before spending some time in the Qantas First Lounge (access via OneWorld Emerald Status).
Normally I would opt for the Steak or Burger after the Salt & Pepper Squid, however this time I tried the Grilled Pork, and it was amazing.
Boarding was via Gate 148, and we were underway on time.
It was another case of scoring all 4 seats in Row 88... Poor Mans Business Class when lying across all seats with a few blankets for extra cushioning.
All 3 meals served were tasty, and I managed to get plenty of sleep.
As per usual, I try and get the operating crew a box, or bag of chocolates, or something similar (always individually wrapped items), the crew as always are very appreciative of this.
Arrived into Sydney close to the scheduled time, as usual for morning arrivals it is a little chaotic, especially accessing the SmartGate machines, but once through, my bag was already on the belt, and customs was very quick before heading out through the car park to the Express Pick Up area.

I fly that route fairly often and have never seen the plane that empty 😢 it's always packed to the gunnells. Thanks for the excellent vid.
As I have priority boarding I am usually one of the first on the plane which I use to video the seating without imposing on other people. I believe that flight ended up being around 2/3rds full, which for a Sunday Night was a light load (I normally try and fly on Tuesdays and Thursdays as I find these are usually the quieter days to fly).

Thought the same. Did not look like a profit maker unless high-cost pax on board or the belly load freight( not always a lot on 380.s) nice video LAX is a blardy nightmare at times with security bedlam other days not so bad . But not been on USA roughts in last 24 months Ahain good report thank you without all the fluff and ego just straight data liked it

Thank you, I like keeping busy, but at the same time this flight was 4 weeks ago, and I haven't flown anywhere for that time... until yesterday... Expect to see a Qantas/Finnair Sydney to Singapore flight in the next week.

Thank you. A lot of people do like to see the airport and where to check in etc, especially if they have been to that airport before. I try to cover a bit of everything.
QF has been shockingly unreliable on hk-melb . 4 hours late, a few days ago. I wonder if this reputation is affecting their US flight sales.
Overall the on time performance is high, unfortunately you were on the wrong end of this, but in the big picture, international delays are not an issue. I choose to fly on quieter days, plus my status normally gets me an empty seat next to me. That said there have been plenty of packed flights that I don’t video out of respect for the people close to me. I just flew from Sydney to Singapore, and aside from the seat next to me, I think there was only 1-2 other empty seats across the aircraft.
