Brilliant movie. Blow my mind. Best western since Unforgiven and Costner's own Dances with Wolves. He actually DOES manage to paint a magnificent picture of the West from different viewpoints. And the characters ARE all compelling. Loved it. Can't wait for the next chapter.

The movie is excellent it is just too big and too long for Gen Z and Millennials. It is very authentic I agree and for certain viewers I am sure it is great. He should have made this into a TV miniseries like Lonesome Dove on a smaller budget.

I went into the theater knowing that this was supposed to be a four part story, and so I went only expecting the first chunk. So I watched with the intent of learning what the characters are about. I was not surprised that no big baddie was bested at the end of this installment. I left the theater wanting to know more and was happy in the knowledge that it was only a month and a bit away. This is a high quality western. My assumption is that It ends at the intermission point of part one and two, as the forthcoming release so soon after suggests chapter one and two would likely be a 6 hour movie split in two so audiences can handle the run time. I like everything I got from the viewing and wouldn't want any less.

How about seeing the West thru a young-man's eyes!!! The Keeper's Gift, The Keepers's Gift??? A young-man's eyes!!! Seeing the West thru his eyes!!!

Kevin Costner is not "trying". He's doing, and very well thank you. This movie is (close to) a masterpiece. Sorry, but if you don't appreciate to see all the characters being on their way to (the) Horizon and that it is a historical tale as seen through the eyes of various different people and that it is an amazing thing to witness even if you don't have the stories completed by the end (because history never ends...), then I can only be sad that you did not see it the way I did. To me this movie a 9/10. It's not a complicated movie to follow. The characters are great, their paths in life are interesting. The pacing was great to me. 3 hours? Felt like 2h15. .

I left the theatre pretty upset because in the end, I still didn't care about any of the characters, it was just too many of them and many scenes were very confusing to me. I actually never wanted to watch it again. But I love Costner and I watched couple interviews with him to understand his vision and watched it again now when it was released. I wasn't angry anymore at it, but I'm still not in love with it. I can't understand that with all of his experience he couldn't make a movie that works. I watched Dances with Wolves again and somehow every scene works. Also music is on another level. I'm not saying that music in Horizon is bad, but if it's supposed to be a classic epic western, the music should be on Dances with Wolves level, but it's not. I still hope he'll finish the whole thing and I will watch it, but I don't hold high expectation anymore.

This movie sucked and Kevin Costner failed in what he tried to do, he did not pull it off, should have been a miniseries on Hulu.👎👎👎💩

The first installment should capture the audience and draw them in. It failed do that and that's why Chapter 2 is Cancelled. Put a fork in it.
