As someone who also uses their yarn/embroidery scissors to cut their fringe, I justify our decision through the fact that human hair and yarn fibres are technically the same material…
ahaha I never thought of that!! but it makes total sense
Haha. I went on a holiday with my friend and one piece of hair would not sit properly, so I cut it short to a better length using my knitting scissors and my friend looked at me like I was insane😂
Your podcast is delightful! The sock blocker recreation was my favourite bit, something my family and I would do (especially whilst on a budget). Keep being awesome. :)
That skirt is exactly what I have been looking for for so long! I can't wait until you release the pattern!
I clicked this video so fast when I saw the skorts in the thumbnail. I have saved one of your posts of them on Instagram. Love them! Love seeing a knitting podacast from someone my age too!
Just want to say that you should be proud of your work. It is awesome! And complicated! And really cute! 🌻
Love all the patterns you're making. I want to make all of them!
Lovely episode! I'm really looking forward to the skirt pattern, it's totally my style! ❤️
Lovely Florence!!! Nice to see you again!!!
I love your podcast! I can't wait for your skirt pattern to drop. Now I just have to decide which color I want to knit :)
Love your podcast! I really need inspiration for neutral knits because I love knitting with bright colors but most of my purchased wardrobe is neutral, so seeing your finished pieces is inspiring!
Florence, I love your videos and you are so talented
everything you made is so gorgeous! I'm beyond excited for the skort pattern, although I'm still not sure what color I'll be making mine in... I'm *usually* a bright color knitter (so kind of the opposite of your usual vibe), but I think I would definitely get more wear out of a more neutral colored skort. I'm interested to see all of the testers' FOs :)
I really like the sock blocker
those skorts look amazing and so impressive! I was stalking your ravelry at the beginning of the video and they immediately caught my eye, so I was very happy that you talked more about them in this podcast hahah -- I'm nervous about knitting bottoms thought, because I'm scared of how much they will wear from the friction of sitting... do you find that to be a problem? (I'm a beginner, so I don't know much, but is yarn choice the determining factor here in how it will wear?)
I'm listening to your older podcasts as I work on the Step by Step sweater as my first knit project (thank you!) and I just got to (42:35) and I did the German short rows. :) I think on the free pattern on Page 5, under Option 2, after "Repeat Rows 3 and 4 a total of 1 (2, 2, 2) (2, 2,2) times." it should say, "k to BOR marker". I drew a picture to try and visualize and watched the Short Row shaping section and watched where your yarn tail was to see if you had gone back to BOR. Again, thank you for this pattern, I'm so excited to knit now!
yes that’s true! I was planning to fix it with the new sizes update but it looks like that won’t be coming for a while so i’ll go ahead and fix that error soon
Have you considered pastel/light colored yarn for socks? That way they align better with your beige aesthetic, but are colorful enough to be fun? They can also be knit in colors that complement other knitted garments you've made, like making socks in a pink that matches your Karelia, for example. Just a thought on the beige sock conundrum!
I've been really enjoying your podcast and I'm so excited for the release of your skort pattern!
that’s a good idea! I have a pastel green sock yarn which is very pretty, and I was considering stripes with a white to make it even cuter and more wearable too
I think that sweater looks beautiful on you & I think a short sleeve would look great!
thank you! I really hope it works out ok
aaaa I watched your knitting video on your main channel, I had no idea you had a knitting channel!
Your sock blocker is genius. I have plenty of cardboard, tape, and plastic wrap. Why not just make my own?!
I have the same problem with the tight sleeves and short body. With a drop shoulder sweater I usually follow the instructions for the sleeves width of the biggest size while knitting a size S for the rest of the pattern, if the sleeves look like they would be too tight. If the sweater has a circular yoke it is very easy to just split for the sleeves at a different point so the sleeves are a bit bigger!
that’s all really good advice! the only issue is it requires noticing the sleeves are going to be too fitted before I knit the body which …. I have realised I am not very good at lol
@@handmadebyflorence hahaha yeah that would be difficult then. Btw I think you would like the ppopposweater from aegyoknit. It has a very deep yoke with big sleeves :)
Alice and I are both planning a sweater no. 15 for the beginning of michaelmas - if we all finish them we could be like that picture! if you don't finish before then it could be a little knit-a-long (not to encourage you to let it sit for any longer!)
that would be the cutest thing ever!! such good motivation to get through it
Im so happy you talked about the tight sleeve and oversized body problem with your jumpers. Especially with the my favorite knitwear patterns. I'm about to cast on sweater no 19 and was worried about this exact problem. Any suggestions for how to adjust for this? I couldn't find any tips on Ravelry.
I haven't knitted that jumper but I assume you can just knit the armhole deeper and then pick up more stitches for the sleeves. It definitely doesn't go for every MFTK jumper - I have a few more of their patterns with no fit issues at all for me! but I agree it's the thing that puts me off no. 19 a little
I feel the same way about the wide body+skinny sleeves situation!! I feel like a lot of midori hirose's patterns are written with that fit (I made ranunculus and it was... kind of the same) and I don't really enjoy wearing them :(
i’m happy to know i’m not alone!! and I see why people like them, but it just looks so uncomfortable on me somehow :’)
i love the fit of the karelia sweater on you! lol but it’s not your taste. currently knitting your skort 😌 i also understand the flora white fog sentiment bc i’m particular about colors as well and it’s such a nice shade of white with a grey undertone. reminds me of clouds thats about to rain
That's kinda funny how we are the same height and shoe size, at least I now know I can trust your sock recommendations
Hey Florence, other knitters have Kofi pages and you can buy them a 'coffee' aka yarn to make another little skirt. I'd be happy to donate if you set one up xxx
🌟For your knitted skort, is it possible to increase the skirt length to knee lenth?🌟
It’s knitted top down, so you can really just keep going until it reaches a length you like! It would be a very time consuming project though
What needle size (length) of the Seeknits do you have?😊
There is a paperback version of 52 Weeks of Socks? 😮
Florence, you inspire me to no end! I now want to knit a pouch/pencil case. Yours looks absolutely amazing and polished and so “romantic” almost. 🤍
I’m actually binge-watching all your videos while knitting on my Hemingway Shorts by The Knitting Booth 👌🏼 ✨
aaah thank you so much!! I really enjoy your channel too
