thats a hot scooter! I can't imagine why scooters like this havent caught on more here in the US. If I had a shorter commute Id consider one as a daily driver, especially with all of that storage space... I see a few but never as nice as that one..

Nice bike. If you are keeping it mostly for winter riding, you might want to consider a Tucano Urbano leg cover. They work well for winter riding and don't flap at speed either. Handily, they make the most of the Gilera foot/ankle vents by trapping some of that heat. They might not look too sexy, but they are effective.
Would it possible for you to make a video showing how you use the clutch on your bike? I'm planning on moving on a bigger manual bike and it'd be interesting to have a look before I start my lessons
@187Premises does it drive as bitchin as it looks, i never tryed one yet but like the futuristic design, maybe the seat could be lower but its a cool look
@dbauernf Very true, however the X9 or X8 would of fitted 2 full face helmets under the seat which would of been more practical. Sorry, I just really like my storage :)

I dont think youll have any problems mate. The seat height on this is pretty tall. Taller than most 600cc bikes I've sat on. Also if you have long legs and arms you can scoot back on the massive seat. I have a 32" inseam and I spend most of my time sat on the front half of the seat.
@bank0fengland Wasn't willing to pay the premium. They hold their value too well for what they are. Also I went for the Piaggio engine because OEM replacements are better priced and easier to come across.
@DejaPoo909 Wikipedia mentions 250 Maxi scooter and Google results for 250 Maxi are endless. Fact is there is nothing official that states what a maxiscooter is. Scooter giants Piaggio market their X9 125 as a Maxi.
@DesmosediciAlice I think the North American ones are too small, you can't read the letters/numbers very easily.... but ours look too big, they should be a little smaller. Just a little bit :D. When I went to Greece, the scooters had a smaller size than the M/C ones, which looked like a good idea. Most European M/C plates are as big as in this vid.
Completely agree, and it's blatantly obvious why premises bought this one. Supermoto / Dirt Bikes are awesome for zipping around and they're nimble, but have basically no storage space. Sports bikes / Tourers etc are much more practical and comfy but can be too cumbersome for city traffic, the scooter fits in perfectly. Piece of piss to ride, cheap to run, comfy, practical etc.

BUT, one cannot argue the fact that if you're a London commuter (one of the most congested cities on the planet) the BEST engine based road vehicle IS a scooter/moped. 187 is simply reviewing his to help other london commuters in showing what's on offer.

Hard fact of the matter is with your commuting around London, riding anything more powerful - even the monster (/sarcarm) that is the Bandit 600 that idiot that posted earlier has, lol - is a complete waste of time. You won't get there quicker, you will burn 3x as much fuel and you can't carry feck all. Nice intro :)

Check out the Aprilia Mana 850. Also the Honda NC700X and NC700S are available in geared/automatic versions.

@vAce2010 Yup, it is allowed, according to my copy of the highway code, only motorcycles under 50cc are prohibited from using the motorway.

Don't bother mate. My electricals went bad. Battery wasn't charging, repairs repairs repairs. Ended up selling as a non runner.

+Steve Burrows Fingers crossed you get a good one. One other thing I disliked was the amount of screws you need to undo just to get one panel off.
